  1. Hi, thanks for sharing Firestone, what you describe is what i hear of quite often. Pleased you have a litter now Silverhaze, does your vet do the prog tests routinely during pregnancy to check their levels?
  2. That's about as much as i know too There are a few different opinions on this. Some say supplement and some say don't, because they don't believe it is a problem. If anyone can share their experience/s with their girls levels dropping during pregnancy and how you treated it that would be great.
  3. Well they are in and on ice, hahaha! I hope you've got some helpful info
  4. It wont hurt to Titre first and if the level is low then vaccinate if you have to :D
  5. I found Jessica to be very efficiant and very communicative which really helps when you need to know what's going on with your stuff!
  6. Puppy buyers will tell you anything, and even when you think you know them really well, sometimes you really don't. Limited register is great, but they can still breed the dog/bitch if they want, you would never know about it. At least if they're desexed before they leave you know for a fact they can't breed from them. It's the breeders decision to do what they think is best for their pups and for their breed.
  7. I haven't used it but i would be interested in learning more about it for future reference. What size litter is she from? Have her previous offspring had any litters, what numbers have come from them?
  8. Hi, sorry i should have made it more clear, my bitch is ok. I have talked to a few people who have had problems with their girls, so i am interested in learning more about this so i am prepared for if/when it happens to any of my own girls during pregnancy. My vets here are not reproductive specialists and it is quite hard to get anyone to talk to you if you are not a client of theirs, so i thought i'd bring the subject here to learn more
  9. Hello, i am wondering what the progesterone levels are supposed to be throughout a bitch's pregnancy. What is a safe level and when is it time to supplement them if they need it?
  10. All my puppies were suckers, the boys and girls! I had seperate tubs for them all, a heat lamp over one end and hung a sheet over the other end of the box to keep the warmth in. I think at about 4 weeks or so when they were going for it with the food properly and their eyes were open and they were getting around well they stopped sucking and could go back in together....all 11 of them! p.s. for your one boy though i like the idea of wrapping him up
  11. I'm sure there is an injection to give them because when i asked about it for my girl *( she got extremely ill from Mastitis, and kept producing milk) they said there was something you could give them...cannot remember the name of it, but will be looking into it for next time for sure. I wasn't told about it until afterwards and found the info from another vet!
  12. Avon Valley are good. Contact Phill and see what he can do for you
  13. Sometimes ya just never can tell! But my guess is Mastiff x Ridgie and or Dane. Cute dogs, love the hand shakes The young one reminds me of my pup
  14. It can work both ways, under the right agreement. The buyer gets a quality dog of which they may not be able to get otherwise and the breeder can continue with the line if they wish However, i do think that It is only fair if the breeder wants to use this dog that they must pay for all the health testing and any costs associated with any breedings done, after all you are not interested in breeding him and only want him for a pet. Co-owning the dog under an agreement is a wise idea, that way you both have your names on the dog. It needs to be reasonable, and i kept my agreements reasonable with my puppy buyers, i would not put them through anything i would not be happy doing myself.
  15. I use them for walking and training, but never ever leave them on any other time, it is so easy for them to get caught up on something!! Have heard of a few dogs choking to death, eg. if the ring gets hooked through ther decking, no way out for them.

    Mastiff

Hi, there are a few breeders in QLD, check out the Dogzonline breeders page and have a look and contact a few people. Don't just limit yourself to your own state though, it doesn't cost much to fly puppies around Aus It depends what you like, how you get on with the breeder and if they're breeding good dogs! Feel free to Pm me or ring me if you need any advice
  17. That's who i used aswell, they were quite good, i hope everything goes smoothly now for you!
  18. Wow wouldn't that be nice, only 5 days in quarantine! I brought my boy in from Sweden and yes i had to apply for my permit and book a space in quarantine myself. It is quite easy, as long as the pup is microchipped away you go! Who are you using for transport? I sent the info from the AQIS site to my breeder over there so they knew what to do in order for the pup to fly out. She worked in with her vet and the transport company and everything went quite smoothly

    Mastiff

Great pic, he looks like his dad, but more handsome can you post your pic in the Mastiff thread on the breeds sub forum too? People will miss it if it just stays here Great place to take the dogs by the looks, i know mine love the beach!
  20. Don't be disheartened by the few breeders you have contacted, do keep trying and contact every breeder you can find and talk talk talk, something will come along....and patience is a virtue! I was in the same boat a few years back when looking for a Mastiff...so i understand where you're coming from. Is this puppy you are looking for just going to be a pet or do you want to possibly show or breed? It is expensive importing, put away 10 k for something from the U.S....dear to buy plus the flight cost and quarantine. But if that is what you really want to do, go for it, and i really mean that because i have two import dogs here myself Would be much easier to find something in Aus though, i'm sure there is a breeder out there for you that will have something available sometime. All the best Hannah

    Mastiff

We aren't allowed those here! Although i do like alot of the Mastiff breeds ;) Sharna's puppy wasn't from a 'reputable' breeder and it can't be known if the pup is actually a 'purebred' or not, but he sure is cute! His weight looked fine from the photos she sent me, his condition was good.
  22. Can we maybe pin a thread that has all the regulations and worldwide agents for importing dogs/pups to Australia?
  23. Oh no, hope you get better soon Fi, hugs.
  24. My girl got Mastitis, so i had to feed, plus you can't leave the mums in with them anyway (squishing of pups) so it's always 24/7 hour care wether you bottle feed or let them feed off mum. Toileting them yourself is a good idea, you can see what's coming out. Definitely get them checked out, from experience with my own litter yukky green poos are not good! AB's may be in order for them.
  25. We had 11 beautiful Mastiff babies, although it was the hardest thing i have ever done in my life mothering those babies, no way in heck was i culling any of them, wether they were going to be placed as pets or used for showing/breeding all of them were very valuable. We have three main colours, all can be shown and bred, so no faults there, and there were no obvious health problems so there was no reason to cull any of them. I did have to bottle feed them and had to watch them 24/7, i was their mother and it was hard work, but that was no reason to kill any of them off just so i could have it easy. I found all of mine great homes, for a resonable price, what i wanted. But they are good quality dogs, so that was not a problem there. Other breeders at the moment though cannot give their pups away. What breed do you have?
