  1. Did you get your pup from a registered breeder? If so, talk to them to let them know what is going on. They may be able to provide some support. I would suggest you take the dog to a chiro before jumping into surgery also. They know bones, muscles and joints far better than the average vet. I took a lame dog to a chiro a few weeks ago and a quick manipulation fixed the problem straightaway. I would never see a GP vet in regard to lameness, as a first option now, unless of course there was an obvious wound or similar.. Was the dog x-rayed? Or did I miss that. Also be very careful with the polished floors and provide lots of rubber backed mats for the dog to get a grip on.
  2. Chicken and rice on it's own would not provide necessary fats, vitamins and minerals. Adding these things may make the food unpalatable and defeat the purpose of finding a diet your dog actually likes. Petark has a liver flavoured supplement which I am trying and dogs like it, or you could try Greenpet or Missing Link, as well as an oil supplement. Suggest you try to include RMB's in the dog's normal diet as the benefits are enormous. Dogs are NOT scientific instruments but they DO need a balanced diet including viatmins and minerals to function and be healthy.
  3. What's to stop it turning and perforating the bowel? Please do not feed Bobby wings for a few more weeks. he is obviously not able to digest them yet, and no digestive powder will make a difference. Why risk it?
  4. old mattress protectors, with the sides pulled under and trapped by the edges of the pen.
  5. Do you think it is Ok that the pup is pooping 2cm pieces of bone?
  6. Well he seems to chew on it for a long time (about 30mins). and he seems to poop okay at the moment, but I actually don't' know how to tell if he is pooping abnormally.... except for the 2cm pieces of bone??? That is a concern. I would go very easy for a while as I said, and reintroduce the wings later.
  7. I think 10 weeks is too young to tolerate wings properly. I'd be feeding this pup chopped chicken necks for a couple of weeks, then try to reintroduce the wings
  8. Is her anatomy normal? Not inverted? How old was she when she was desexed?
  9. Mmmm and getting a real "grilling" there
  10. Shame the OP did not ask these questions before purchasing the pup.
  11. Those comments are mainly in relation the breed chosen and the obvious lack of preparation, not the fact that the dog will be living outside. The OP NEEDS to know the potential issues related to owning a restricted breed.
  12. No, I can't see any grilling, just legitimate questions from people who are concerned re a baby puppy being left outside alone
  13. Who did that? Can you quote that bit please, cos I must have missed it.
  14. Nah, dogs that are not properly looked after may be smelly, but the only people who say dogs smell, are not doggy people.
  15. Revolution is fine, in fact, one of the safest ones to use in pregnancy.

    Hates His Food

He's bored. I would be too if I was fed the same dry stuff for every meal. Chop up some nice juicy chicken necks and mix them through the food, or some tinned sardines in oil. Give the pup some real food - ie gradually switch him over to BARF
  17. How come you let your dog annoy other people trying to enjoy their holiday? I get the impression the owners of the Chi found the behaviour amusing, not annoying. Don't give in to his demands re the food.
  18. OK, it should NOT be this difficult. You need to settle down, stop trying so hard, and stop trying to analyse your dog. Their needs are pretty basic at this stage... food, water, toilet, play, and sleep. They also need a secure environment, a routine, and a FIRM hand. I really don't believe this pup is capable of the thought processes you are crediting him with. The quotes above sort of yell out to me that this pup is in charge here. You need to change that ASAP. Whether you take advice from here, or invest in a good puppy training book, or better still, some one on one training with somebody reputable. You need to get right back to basics, and also consider a crate if you have not got one already.
  19. Umm, no she has not missed out on "antibodies", not if she got colostrum from her Mum in the first couple of days after whelping. Pups can be weaned earlier than four weeks also. She has missed out on important interaction with mum and littermates. This is the time that bite inhibition is learnt. Munch on Mum or another pup too hard, and you soon get a correction that you understand! The only way you would know for sure is if you have a registered pedigree for her.
  20. You would be silly to not cover your furniture, or confine bitches to areas where floors can be easily cleaned if they drip a lot. There are also bitch pants available to use if so desired. Common sense really..
  21. Thanks for the lecture :D but I don't need it thanks. My attitude is not cavalier, it's realistic. If the pup is from a good breeder, is healthy, and started life out with Mum's antibodies and has one vaccination under it's belt, it should be reasonably well protected. Parvo is everywhere at this time of year and unless you want to wrap the pup in cotton wool and stay home with it for 3-4 months, for fear of bringing parvo home to infect it... how realistic is that? Unless there was KNOWN Parvo in this yard, like I said, I would not be concerned.
  22. Is the yard enclosed? I would not be too concerned. Just don't take the pup out in public places. Can you check with the agent re past tenants and if they had dogs?
  23. It has been discussed many many times, often with your involvement, Have you forgotten?
