  1. we use Virkon S at the animal shelter, as someone said earlier, very expensive, but we tried other things and had more parvo outbreaks when we were not using it.
  2. Yay, best breed in the World won Crufts, go the Flat Coats!
  3. Flat Coat is a lovely dog, had lots of big wins, well deserved.
  4. you can enter Minor puppy until you puppy turns 9 months old, then Puppy from 9 - 12 months, yes, you could enter both shows, good practice.
  5. so proud of him, some good wins along the way.
  6. Ch Fetchitup Man Of The Hour (Rebus) 15 months old, also won BEST AUST BRED IN GROUP!
  7. Congratulations! And titled in style!
  8. I agree with you, I will have strict condition on people using my dogs, and I feel no guilt for it, when they will be used, I will be making sure they are not getting into the wrong hands as best as I can, that is doing good for the breed, not the harm that some seem to think it does. IF the owner of the bitch earns my trust than they will be able to keep the pick puppy out of my dog to go on with, the rest will go the good pet homes and live a great life, I am happy with that. If I am not conviced that they will stick to my conditions or even believe in what I am doing, they won't be using them and my concence is clear that they will not get into the wrong hands.
  9. only when at away dog shows, I only will use Natures Gift.
  10. As far as I'm concerned I have every right to restrict what happens with pups from my dogs, if they don't agree, happy for them not to use them. If they agree to the terms they better stick to it, or they will never get anything from me again, if I am in doubt they will stick to agreement I will not agree to let them be used. Might right Who uses MY DOGs! Letting them out to anyone (if they think they are a good breeder or not) is not doing the breed any favores. I have only let 2 people use my dogs and they have stuck to agreement, they both have pick puppy others are in loving pet homes on limited register.
  11. I used them on last Flat Coat litter, they were great, never got them off, like other ones I tried.
  12. Very few people would be allowed to use my dogs, I have to trust them 100% and be confident the puppies aren't going out to people I wouldn't let use my dogs or sell a puppy to myself. I look at what may happen with the next geration too not just that litter. If I approve of the bitch and the owner of the bitch, Generally i say you keep the best pup and all others are to go on limited register unless I approve of who's buying, if they can't agree to that then they aren't using my dogs.
  13. Get frontline or one of the other similar products for flees, shampoo only very short fix.
  14. pure bred, registered dogs? In 10 years of working in a shelter I can tell you very few dogs that came in were registered purebreds. Very few dogs came in that even looked purebred. Most larger cross breed's that came in are not a cross between 2 purebreeds but a heinze 57. People like to say their mutt is a cross between this breed and that but the reality is they are just mutt's, their sire was a mutt, their dam was a mutt. People just label their dogs to what they look like. My mutt is registered as a beagle cross foxie cause that is what she most's looks like and if she got lost someone might recognise her form that description but the truth is she is a mutt, a pure bred mongrel. I have been working in a shelter for 17 years, and temp test dogs 3 days a week, deciding if the Live or Die, I also often get the task of Putting many of them to sleep too, deal with the hand overs and excuses (moving, no time, having a baby yada yada yada) heard it all, a few genuine, but mostly just week couldn't be bothered excuses. Chances are at least some of these pups will end up in a shelter at some stage, possible producing more puppies themselves. Majority of dogs that get Put to sleep are because their slack and lazy owners didn't give a shit and didn't socialize or teach the dog any basic manners to make it possible for us to pass them on to someone else.
  15. actually this is not correct ... I have it in writing from VicDogs that with imports, once the paperwork is "lodged" with the office the exhibit can be entered in your name. Dogs SA, said I could show my last import as soon as I lodged paperwork too, didn't have to wait for pedigree to come back to me, they checked thorougly that all was correct.
  16. Just recieved a lovely trophy for Fetchitup Man Of The Hour (Rebus) S.A.'s number 1 rising star Gundog. Finished the year with a RU Best In Group and multiple Class in shows and Class in Groups.
  17. Interested if people think Pet insurance is worth it and if so who the have used, good and bad experiences?
  18. that sucks!!! It was sooo squishy and hot with us all crammed onto the soccer pitch the other week. I know the change is coming in early (temperature already dropped here at my place) but still... Why do we have to be squished? And that was 6 rings last time, not 7 - how they going to fit that all in. grrrrrrr Great and I won't be able to set up until about 6 as have to bath dogs when get home from work.
  19. Minimum 27 so won't be coming in too soon, and the sun doesn't go down from well after the 6.30 starting time, I 'm not going. minimum will be 20 degrees actually - so yes - change will be coming in earlier... BOM says will be arriving in the late afternoon - are you entered? If you are a later breed - see what the weather is doing and then decide. I am entered, I only live 10 minutes away, will be on early though have Flat Coats. Will see what the weather like when get home from work at 4.30 if better with have to bath them very quickly and get there before it starts incase not much in front.

  21. C-Crates for sure, had aluminium one lasted 6 months, C-crate heavier but had one 8 years and one 2 years and no sign of any problems at all.
  22. Chris Girling (Noahs Crossing), Lewsiton, he is a breeding specialist, only 30 minutes from Adelaide.
  23. I am currently looking for a home for an 8 month old bitch. One email I received starts with " is she on the main register" Why are you selling her? I replied she is now but won't be when I sell her and I am selling her because she is smaller and finer than I would like. She replies, can I ask if she has had a litter before! Would her being small cause her problems with breeding! I replied, OF COUSE SHE HASN'T HAD A LITTER BEFORE, SHE IS 8 MONTHS OLD!! And she is getting sold a pet not a breeding dog, if she was good enough to breed with, than I would be keeping her!!
