  1. I'm really getting into this! Lol!
  2. Well I was told of isnt allowed, but am going to try both! I checked the ANKC rulings last week regarding names and there isn't anything about not using the word of. Isaak is Twist of Fate, had they not accepted of he would have had a completely different name because there was no way he was being Twist ov Fate.
  3. A shot of pure gold could be Midas.
  4. Caught red handed could be Bandit. Or Sneak.
  5. Use of instead of ov. Ov looks ridiculous.
  6. It was a lovely evening, once the sun started to go down the temperature was near perfect. Grp 5, OES, and I think the runner up was the Border Collie. The hound group was won by a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and a whippet was runner up.
  7. Why would you need to? Shouldn't that be a discussion with the prospective buyer? A simple "registered ANKC breeder" should be enough to imply that some of your pups may be destined for the show ring.
  8. I agree with Sheridan, the way the term "pet quality" is used on DOL it makes it sound like the pet puppies are the rejects.
  9. They are only around $100. One where it is hooked up to the internet and we can all view the current temp and rainfall? I don't know but the one I bought my husband is pretty damn flash for $100. It has an outside thing that looks like an alien catcher, which has a wireless feed into a touch screen which displays all the data, which is hooked up to his computer where it logs all the data in the software. It probably wouldn't take much to take it one step further to have it display on the internet.
  10. Shae was rehomed the first time because she barked and howled a lot, dug holes, ripped washing off the line and displayed a whole slew of bad behaviours. But then she'd been put in a backyard and ignored and her owners were surprised that she'd turned out so bad. The second time she was rehomed, her owners went to live in Dubai and didn't want to take her. Dubai is one of the easiest countries to take a dog into, they have no quarantine restrictions and not a lot of difficult rules about bringing a dog in from another country. So we are her third home. And her last. She is a delightful little dog, pretty and sweet and loving. She has learned a new "trade"....herding sheep, and now has 2 herding titles. She's about to start her show career next week with her debut into the neuter classes at the grand old age of 6. But mostly, I love her to the moon and back, I have promised her the best life a dog could ever have....and in return she loves me back, you can see it in her eyes.
  11. 30 isn't too bad. My husband got a weather station for Xmas and he keeps giving me temperature updates from the rumpus room........I really didn't need to know it was 36, I was feeling not too hot til he told me that.
  12. How hot is it there? It's over 36 here.
  13. Defence force housing is pet friendly, my son is in the army and he has two dogs. Wherever he moves to, the dogs move too. He was stationed in Afghanistan last year, his girlfriend looked after the dogs while he was away. He's moving from Brisbane to Canberra in a few weeks, so are the dogs.
  14. The dogs can sleep in the car if need be. I'd be bringing Isaak and Shae if I come, seeing as there are neuter classes (and pending her first show next week, that she doesn't bite the judge or something to get herself banned for life).
  15. No, I definitely won't be camping, but if they have cabins that allow dogs inside, that would be cool. Looking at the map, Bright is fairly close, would there be many pet friendly places there?
  16. That sounds like a nice weekend of shows, and Trisvens cuddly Fauve babies would be an added bonus. What's around that area in the way of dog friendly accommodation?
  17. After she's rolled in the grass, could you use a diluted leave-in conditioner and give her a wipe over with a damp towel dipped in it? If she stinks from rolling in the grass, it should be relatively easy to remove the stinky stuff by cleaning it off. Kelpies aren't very big so it shouldn't take very long. Maybe keep some made up in a spray bottle, give her a spritz then a rub down with a cloth before she comes in the house.
  18. I've got a couple here who bolt their food and the small size of the kibble has never been a problem. Mine get a chicken drumstick for breakfast every day for their oral health, then the kibble in the evening as their main meal.
  19. Just out of curiosity, how do you appeal if they've given you no reason for the rejection? My first choice was rejected and I was granted my second choice. I had searched far and wide to see if anyone had anything close to my first choice as it was part of my dogs registered name, and I wanted to honour him as he was the first (and in light of his death, I really do wish I'd got that prefix). To lodge an appeal though.......and I deal with legislative appeals at work daily.....you need to have a reason for appealing the decision, just as they have to have a reason for the rejection. But they don't make it known.
  20. No idea. I have a prefix, although I haven't decided if or when to breed yet (but my boy is shaping up to possibly be a stud dog) but I'm not sure that I will qualify to be a "member" of the breeders forum.
  21. No, you can't anymore. You used to be able to, but since the upgrade, you can only start threads there if you're a "member".
  22. I think this is one of the reasons why Joe Public are wary of 'show people'. If you see a dog with beautiful temperament, multiple sports titles or a great working ability yet are dismissed as not worthy of breeding because they have floppy ears or a white blaze on their chest, people are going to question the value of the standard. +1 Also please read the 'born to suffer' thread in the News Discussion . . . in breeds where show conformation has serious health consequences, it may be better to breed from a 'pet quality' dog than a 'show quality' dog. I think the point of difference here is pet quality vs breeding quality, not pet quality vs show quality. If the dogs are bred to the standard, with an eye to moderation, not extremity, the resulting pups should be of good quality with some of them good enough to breed from and carry on the line.
