  1. Beardie was Intermediate. BIG was Junior and RUBIG was Open Nice to see 3 Beardies go up!!!
  2. I think you missed the point. Separate powderpuff/ hiarless as in short and log coated chi's Yes other breeds should be separted as in Europe. 4 different coloured cavs, 2 different coated Griffons. I disagree I don't believe there should be seperation of any breed based on coat/colour if the variation can be produced in a single litter. I agree Delcara but it would be nice to see some consistency in the ruling, particularly in breeds that produce both in a litter but are shown separately such as smooth and rough coated Griffons or smooth and long hairs Chihuahuas. Although I dare say numbers are what have dictated the seperate or non seperate classes in these cases??? I can see both sides of all these arguments. There are always going to be throwbacks, no matter how hard you try to eliminate them. Schipperkes are a good example. The standard states: preferred colour is black and there are some who try to breed to that part of the standard by always putting black to black. A friend recently had a litter that produced a cream and we looked long and hard through the pedigrees of both dogs to find a cream in there, 8 generations back!!!
  3. Tom Couchman closes shows he is the cataloguer for 10 days before the show. He is then able to put together a catalogue, do numbers and stuff them all in an envelope, then post them. We ALWAYS get a breed breakdown when Tom is the cataloguer...
  4. [/quote name=cowanbree' timestamp='1325990511' post='5667013] Markings and colour and sex is about all you can tell at one day old. I usually pick my puppies at birth and seldom change my mind unless something like temperment becomes a factor ditto in my opinion, what appears to be asthetically correct at birth, rarely (if ever) changes
  5. Pam Young and friends run this and it is more about socialization with some show training thrown in. They do a great job and will help you with any areas that you feel need working on... e.g. your dog has a problem with the table, ok, let's do some extra table work. Cost is $5 per dog, at least it was last time I went. I'm sure someone will let us know if the price has increased.
  6. Yes, Luci can be tough and I find she can be a bit heavy handed with some of the dogs...
  7. They did have a double show earlier in the year so perhaps that's where it went... remember, the red & blue shows?
  8. What a fantastic way to get your GR. Congratulations!!!
  9. Aloysha we were going to try to do a show between the breed and group at The Roayl in Canberra but sadly I cant find one, I am hoping that we may be lucky enough to get to a few NSW shows this year. The breed and Group Specials are on the same day at Canberra Royal. If you don't get through to General Specials you can do the Wollongong Shows on Saturday and Sunday http://ozentries.com.au/schedule/0312wollongong.pdf
  10. When I was showing my bearded collie he had just gone into minor and still behaved like a baby, of course. I was told by a Judge that this was NOT acceptable behaviour and he should be well behaved by now... just depends on the Judge really. We would like our dogs to behave a bit better when they go out of baby but who cares really, it's all about them having a good time so they ENJOY showing and don't become little robots. Just my 2 cents worth...
  11. Thankfully I only live 5 minutes away and no shows for me today, though Morisset is on again today...

  14. Thanks for the results mandimoore. Just wondering which show this was? I would think it was Morisset & the black & white terrier would be Bowe's smooth fox terrier, but I could be wrong LOL
  15. I believe it's only Groups 5 & 6 who have a change of Judge ;)
  16. there is in Victoria ... I have always got a BOB Certificate (with the Breed points) & a BIG Certificate (with 25pts on it) when I've been fortunate to win the Group In NSW we just cross out the points and make it 25 points instead and put Best In Group under the points on the BOB certificate... cheapskates ... tell them to buy the Group cards I have suggested it and was shot down in flames...
  17. I don't see that as being correct, though I might have missed something.... BOB Challenge is the total of dogs and bitches, therefore if the bitch gets BOB she gets the challenge points for the dogs as well as herself, making it a 14 point Challenge (BOB) and 13 point Dog Challenge

  20. I have made enquiries in regard this question and have been told that if you are in NSW, until this clause is amended in the Dogs NSW Regulations, the original clause is still in place. The amended clause will be put before the Dogs NSW Directors meeting on Wednesday, 14th December and Champion titles can be applied for under the new clause after that date. Hope this helps...
  21. our 6 month old gets its hard earned points if it beats the 6 year old!!!
  22. Sorry Dellcara I did apologise earlier I just saw red when I was accused of using my child to toilet my dog in the ring I don't think I have ever heard something so ludicrous I only entered the conversation when it was mentioned that changing the points system was to encourage more entries and new people to showing. Mho is that the point system has very little to do with dwindling numbers and that we have more pressing issues as highlighted above but.................... I am very lucky I have a very numerically strong breed, the average entry is 25+. A quality example of my breed should have no problem acquiring 4 25 points ccs or 4 BIGS or 1 BIS. While I can sympathise with those in rare breeds who would find it impossible to acquire any 25 point cc, surely the grand title should only be given to the best of the best and a dog (or bitch) worthy of a grand champion title should (imho only) have no problem getting 4 BIGS, regardless of whether it is a rare breed or not. I don't believe it is right to award the Grand Champion to title to a dog simply because it has been to 167 shows and never, even beaten another dog (same breed or another). All that proves is the how dedicated the owner is. Hell Tralee lets just shove a cork up their bums and ban them popping full stop while at a show and while we're at lets ban bait because that can be rooly annoying when it is left all over the ground with food driven dogs, and those squeaky toys that terrier people love to throw around because my dogs would just love to destroy them, and then little old ladies carrying their toy dogs around because my big dogs just don't get that dogs don't have four legs and while we are at it seeing as I have four dogs and one bitch maybe we could do just dogs one day and then disenfect the ground the next day so my dogs don't put their heads down. Then can we ban newbies and kids because they are sure to do something innocently wrong which could be construed as immoral or unethical. And the wind don't start on the wind because mine go stupid in the wind, give me mud and rain anyday even with coated dogs. Maybe then we could ban the dogs and get some robots instead And then we can't work out why numbers are dropping and instead of dealing with the real problems we tinker with a system that probably wasn't broken?? oh boy
  23. so they can get points then, I thought they couldn't or have I got it all wrong can't get points!!!
