  1. they say, patience is a virtue...and it is with toilet training with pups. Good luck. Just keep with the advice already told. ed: for spell check
  2. Thank you PW cause benji does the same when we get home. Pees omg.....anyway..will take your advice...cause he's 5 months old now.
  3. wow...outback.....good luck.....lol fleas just love the outback...dirt etc.
  4. I think all pups scratch, benji does and he dont have fleas...yet lol Will treat with advantage next week anyway..cause tis flea time.
  5. Benji would only eat chicken at first..but we did the same.....put food down...and then took away. Now he eats anything we give him. But i always add a chicken neck at nite, whatever else he has.
  6. Benji was given 2 vaccinations. Next is the booster next year.
  7. He's doing ok for his age. He will have accidents for awhile yet. Just praise him when he goes where u want...and growl at him when he does it where u dont want..be his mother lol
  8. Praise when she does well,,,try and iggy bad behaviour for awhile. never sook her and tell her sorry you are scared..try to tell her...hey...life is great!!! Im not a dogy trainer.so hope u get some good help for her. Poor dog, i feel her also and glad she has you to love her. Welcome to DOL
  9. Benji is my toy poodle, and we left him in a pen the first 2 nites..he peed on his bedding also. Anyway, we then let him in the bedroom..but not on the bed, He kept waking me up at 3.30...to go outside. Then someone on DOL here told me, take his water away at nite..earlier. We now take his water away bout 8pm.......and he now lets us sleep til 5.15AM, and yes, think he has an alarm clock hidden somewhere..always the same time..5.15am.!!! He's now almost 5 months old, toilet trained.but never barks to go outside..just comes to us and wont settle..so we know...outside. He sorta grabs our fingers, not biting..just getting attention..he wants out. I've edited this to add::: We had to stand outside with him while he did his pee or poo. I know we used to stand there for ages sometimes, but we had to do that so we could praise him and make him learn...only outside for toilet. He still wont stay outside though without us, so we still stand there til he does it, least now, he's much quicker. Everytime we go outside..to water plants, hang out washing etc, we take him. Anyway..he would cry at the door if we didnt
  10. I'd never heard of Aloveen, must look out for it. Do you purchase it from the Vet??
  11. I find Benji is fine with chicken necks, but then he's a small dog. I know when I had a GSD some time ago, he just swolled them whole, so i bought him chicken carcess instead.
  12. Thank you Blossom, I went and made a chocolate cake instead lol...will try tomorrow. I had a poodle some years ago..she was just so easy to do..but I never clipped her body, just around the face, feet and tail, then used the sissors on her body. But Benji is another poodle, and I know he would never sit long enough for the sissors, I have #4 blade, and will try that over his body...and yes will put in pics after lol
  13. I got up today to fully clip Benji....but of course i came in here and found this thread...leaving it now lol Blossom, you did very well..congradulations!!!
  14. Well Mark..you sure have your hands full....2 babies!!!! I cant add anymore that has already been said. Toilet training is the worst job i know. We had to stay outside for ages, waiting for Benji to wee. But stay we did..til he did it..then he was praised. When he did a wee inside..i caught him...and scolded him..never spanked or rub noses in it. He's good now. Finally can relax and watch TV instead of watching Benji in case he dropped to do a wee ....lol It will be all fine once they learn..most dogs just love to please you. And they dont like been scolded. I find that when we say NO..he knows we really mean NO now. Hope all goes well. Cant u put a pen up outside?? Large enough for them both.
  15. I remember a vet on TV saying...put the pup beside your bed..when he cries just pat him..dont let the pup on bed if you dont wish to have him/her there for him/her life ...lol But since i've been a member on this forum...i think crating is a great idea. I like the option of putting the crate in the bedroom...take him/her out when they wake to wee. We had to take Benji out around 3.30am....but now he sleeps til around 5am...my BF has always got up around 5am...so Benji goes to his side of bed....wd Benji lol good luck with the pups....and pics from you both please. Everyone loves to see the puppy pics.
  16. Benji also get the hiccups.....ta for this thread also. He usually hiccups while trying to sleep..tis funny to see him doing it lol
  17. I was told by my vet the pup had to be older before giving him the heartworm injection,,,anyway the vet should let u know that...good luck....
  18. thank you for the info Stormie...no wonder I've never heard of them
  19. I dont know what Greenies are either....cept the human variety. Never seen them in Qld, nor at vets etc...but thank you ...cause my eyes are seeing the words....Greenie not good for dogs, makes them sick...etc etc lol lol lol ;) :D ;)
  20. LOL and here was i thinking of the tree hugging greenies .......lol
  21. Your not alone, I just found another poo on the carpet, if benji keeps doing it, he will be put downstairs, it's all enclosed etc so warm. I take him outside so much, and I always say 'good boy' when he does wee or poo. I have to wait for him anyway, cause if i come back inside, he follows me and doesnt do anything. He can hold on all nite now also, so why wont he hold on til i take him downstairs?? I take him downstairs bout every 1 1/2 hours, and yes, i've lost weight going up and down the 14 stairs lol Not happy
  22. I agree with Warley, Benji just hated to be brushed also He always tried to get the brush etc, and was just so hard to do him, but I held his jaws shut and now he lets me brush him. Edited to add:- He still loves us...doesnt hurt him
  23. When we bought Benji...he was used to using the grass to pee and poo on......so wasnt that hard to train him....anyway, my parnter left for melb last friday and since then i've had the most naught puppy ever. He's gone back to poo on the carpet and chew leads, wakes me up at 3am etc etc etc, dont know if he's missing my partner or just his age, he's almost 16 weeks old now. As to training, back I go to retrain him. Im going to work in the morning and will confine him to the bathroom with blanket food, water and bones and toys. I hope this is the last puppy for me and he lives for a long time also lol Love is great, but at times they just stress you out. Stella will settle, takes time. Benji wont stay in the yard without me there, so I still have to stay til he wee's etc. Least i know when he goes to other side of yard..tis poo time also ..lol We've had him now for almost 5 weeks and im starting to feel very tired. But saying all that..he's worth all the trouble, he WILL grow up and we love him.
