O.K. Sending you off to Troy Now

There is already a bit done on this but from what I can see none of them really cover it as far as how you can prepare your pet rather than how you can be prepared . Id like us to have a go at this - with pike. Not just for natural disasters but for personal ones too Anyone intersted in coming in and having a go at brainstorming and a bit of movement to address it ? I will take names of those interested over the next week and Troy will then give us a private area to chat about it and get to work.
-
Come on guys you cant make us do this one on our own - its so important and we will be using what comes out of this in several different areas . It will form a big part of what we are doing with tenants with pets, preparation for a disaster, promoting responsible dog ownership and stack of others. Any takers? We need you!
-
It not up to what is always the right or wrong thing - you cant just decide you are going to keep a dog without making sure the owner is the owner and has signed over ownership. The pound process is in place to prevent people making assumptions about whether the dog is homeless or abandoned or not. thats FULL STOP. Its against the law and no matter what your personal views are you can not advise someone on a public forum to break the law.

If the dog has no chip its not legally owned by anyone???? Wrong.

This is my understanding also. This working party is about purebred dogs - there has been enough already for promotion of cross breds and we are working on most every other area of dog ownership to help all dog owners. This one is about purebreds only so if anyone who has said they are interested is not passionate about this - promoting purebreds - then it would be best if you looked at one of the other working parties. Hello Steve, Just wondering - is this working party working yet ? If so I can't seem to find it. Thanks. No not yet - Just want to be sure Ive collected you all first.
-
Yep - the aim is to start working on it all individually and then tie in what needs to fit together to bring it all to a nice ending. It should be mostly done by the time Uni goes back
-
You can be involved a lot or a little. Even just being involved in a bit of the brainstorming is good. No one will expect you to put your hand up for something you dont feel comfortable with. The other working party has taken some time to have a chat and begin to work out what actions can be taken - then some have volunteered to have a go at starting each.
-
You cant just keep a dog like that you need to go through the pound system - you can ask for her to come to you if the owners are not found. What you are doing is against the law.
-
Thats what Im holding my breath over too.

Where did you adopt the dog from? How far pregnant is she?

We have a call for help from a single Mum with 4 kids - 2 dogs. They have been evicted and the sherriff is expected any day to throw them out. They have been told housing cant help and nor can Fairtrading. She may have no option but to go into a shelter if she is unable to get somewhere to live - turning out to be difficult finding somewhere to live. What ever happens she doesnt want tohave to give up her dogs. She is prepared to pay for all expenses etc. She is in Seven Hills NSW one female dog [shephard is vaccinated, and desexed - good with kids and cats and other dogs The other is a cattle cross boy also desexed chipped and vaccinated also good with cats and other dogs. She would like them to go into a foster situation together but I have already explained this will be a hard ask. Can anyone help out?

Same as the others - We already have one working party involved in the issue of tenants with pets - this one will look at other issues which can be addressed in this regard . Anyone interested in putting up their hand will be able to see a private area which Troy will set up specifically to bring those of you together who want to be involved in having a crack at it.
-
O.K. Everyone has been great and come in on all kinds of topics we might be able to active in to make a difference to our dogs and we already have some working parties coming together and one at work. Is there anything else you think we might do well to take a long look at ?
-
Right - why the hell dont they just stand their ground and tell them to piss off? By giving in a little it puts the focus on what is going on and for the KC to be asking for vets to be dobbing in their members is bloody outrageous ! - Why cant they get it? If they want to promote registered breeders as doing the right thing , loving dogs and doing whats best for the breed then why the hell do they need to bring in crap stuff like this? Why not say - dont be stupid our breeders rarely if ever do this and make em get what they want the hard way rather than just falling over everytime and quietly educating the breeders to be aware of it and why? It just goes on and on - they put together their advisory boards and load it up with people who are against purebreds . They put one or max two people at the table who are pro purebred and call it an advisory board - its more like a bloody bully board - They may as well sit 2 sheep down with 10 wolves to vote on whats for dinner. Australia is just following in like lot of limb wristed nuffies too. Its a disgrace!
-
This is a big one and there is much work to do and already being done with the MDBA to try to have a go at some of the issues registered breeders need to fix and lift the image of what we do and the dogs we breed. Anyone who comes in on this one will be tested and really put to work - but withthe right people - those who are honest and passionate about dogs and the rights and responsibilities of purebred breeders we can do it. I will collect names for the next week or so here of anyone interested in coming in on this and Troy will set us up a private area to get to work. Julie
