F*** So there is in fact no need at all to get $369 every 3 years from every 'breeder' because compliance with the Code of Practice is already legally enforceable. So what's a good idea now?? Point out that incredibly salient fact hasn't escaped everyone's notice to: Poor Joy, who's bravely/stupidly put her phone numbers up??? Or GCCC? But part of the compliance is you pay the permit

Have you looked in the section where it says that you can't sell to pet shops if they are not the PIAA type of pet shops ? Or have I got the wrong state .... http://www.dogsqueensland.org.au/Member-Forms.aspx NSW and Queensland allow sales to pet shops and agents who are PIAA registered

Are you saying that part of the laws for getting the 'breeder's number', will also include a law banning you from owning an entire dog without a 'breeder's number'? Or is there such a law already in place? And obviously I am probably using law, instead of by-law, but I'm easily confused about that Im unsure as to exactly what they have in mind state wide but there has been a pilot program running on the gold coast which is being pushed pretty hard to go into affect state wide. It has lots of support from the RSPCA and AWL. There is an exemption if you have the dog entire for showing or if its old or sick and wont be used for breeding but our member isnt intending to show any more and does intend to breed. http://www.awlqld.com.au/files/Breeders%20...ion%20Sheet.pdf

Mita why is dogs queensland registering puppies and allowing people to be members who are not up to scratch. If they are not all following the law and the basics why are they allowing them to remain members? Why should a law make more business for a dog group? Considering the MDBA code of conduct for breeders is harder and now we have a registry its has more restrictions on registrations with mandatory and recommended testing should any members of the MDBA also be given exemption? Its harder to get into the MDBA than it is to comply with the NSW and Queensland accredited breeder programs! Would it be O.K. for a stste law to drum up more members for us?

Ahhh, ok :D I also see that any expensive regulations would do this. I was hoping if it is just a matter of applying for a breeder's number, that it should be a fairly inexpensive exercise. Annoying, yes, expensive, no. And those registered with the council simply provide their dog/s rego number & voila!! Here's your breeder's number. And then go from there when Breeder A's number comes up in conjunction with 500 pups/year. Yes, probably too simple We have one member who owns two dogs - one of which is the only champion bitch of her kind in the country - the other is old. The breeders property doesnt pass for her to be able to breed so she has to wait until she moves to different premises to do that - in around 2 years. The owner is happy to do this. However, you cant own an entire dog without a breeders permit.

Do you? http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...redited+breeder And in the mean time any registered breeder who opts not to join this accredited breeder scheme and pay the extra money is scum. All thats doing is showing what we have been saying for years there needs to be a way of telling the good from the bad but if thats the best they can come up with - not much hope. Tell me where in that accredited breeder program where its says you cant own 400 dogs, breed cross breds as well as registered or you cant sell to pet shops.

As far as Im aware and considering what is happening in the "pilot" program on the gold coast you will be inspected before the issue of the number. So what - move more than 2 dogs out for the inspection and when it's done bring em home again.

In NSW a breeder has to register their puppies in their own name and sign the back of the pedigrees to transfer ownership when the puppy goes home. I usually allow the owners to name them though. Very few limited register owners ever transfer the registration over to their names - its an expense which isnt needed unless you want to do agility etc.

Im certainly not going to give a tick to everything the RSPCA do but the inspectorate and powers given to them via state laws are a mile away from the shelters. I doubt very much that anyone could seriously be having a personal go at Michael who has never shown anything other than genuine care for the animals. Give credit where its due - He has done a good job and much of what he has introduced is innovative and working. Its impossible to sit on a forum and decide you know better on what policies will and wont work because there are so many variables and issues - including thise which are relavant in one area which isnt in another. To bring up crap about where donated food goes whether it was years ago or yesterday or several other things being said here serves no purpose and very few on this forum have much concept of what is needed to co ordinate or manage the things they do anyway. However, I do find it a little that this call for more funding comes around the same time as calls for more laws. If the more funding is to go to the shelter then I hope they get all they need and then some.

As it gets hotter and he gets bigger so less growing to do he will eat less. Put the food down and anything he doesnt eat in 10 mins take away. If you give him dry food as well as the raw it digests differently. So raw food given on its own moves through pretty quickly so the bacteria etc which is in it doesnt affect them .When you add the dry at the same time it can make the raw food stay in there longer than it normally would. There is absolutely definitely nothing what ever which would suggest that the problem might be coming from chicken - it's possible but his ancestors have been eating raw chicken as the main part of their diet for at least 15 generations that Im aware of and it would be the last thing on my list of trying to work out whats happening. There are a couple of clues in your post - he was itchy and when you took him to the vet and treated the fleas he was better for a few days would seem to imply the problem is fleas - if it wasnt then why did it get better? The area around the top of his tail is nice and warm so any bugs are going to settle in there first. If it were contact allergens such as grass etc you would see it on his feet and legs and if it were wandering jew etc you would see it on his face. To test whether he is too thin clench your fist and bend your wrist toward the inside of your arm. Rub your hand over the skin and feel it - that how his ribs should feel. Regardless of the cause if he is reacting as badly as you describe its an immune system issue so you need to approach it by trying to look at him holistically and not just one bit at a time. You can add a capful of apple cidar vinegar to every 2 litres of water for him to drink and you can rinse him in a laundry tub x 1 cup of apple cidar vinegar after he is bathed, you can also add 20 mils of Aloe Vera Juice per day and put aloe on any where he is itchy. The first two things I would try is a spot on for fleas and take out the dry food. You know where I am if you need me and that letter you are waiting on is being posted on Tuesday. Julie

Please direct me to the laws which say it is illegal to register A Pit bull in Australia. Bit difficult to pull that one when the councils want them all registered with them. There is no suggestion that pit bull puppies would be bred and registered in Australia - the people who were enquiring were asking if they could add their dogs which already have a registered pedigree with another registry.

Anyone Want A Free Home Stay In Sydney?
Steve replied to MadWoofter's topic in General Dog Discussion
This breaks my heart - you have helped so many other people and now I really hope that someone can come and stay with you for a little while to give you a bit of a hand now you need it. If you can think of anything we can do to help please please say so. Julie -
The law says they cant be bred but they are still obviously being bred and some of them are pedigreed and registered as pittys .
-
We have been contacted by two people since we opened our new registry to ask if we would accept US papered Pit bulls on our main stud registry.
-
How does a non ANKC registered breed aquire papers Because the ANKC is only ONE of hundreds of registries - some breeds decide they dont want ANKC recognition . Its a huge mistake to assume that breeds recognised by the ANKC are the only ones which are recognised breeds or that can provide bonefide registered pedigrees. Just because the ANKC dont issue the pedigree certificates doesnt mean the pedigrees are any less authentic.
