  1. Yeah i've been looking through that and I can't see anything so far that states it would not cover that... but I was under the impression hardly any insurance companys would
  2. Hi everyone, Looking into getting insurance for Marley and was looking in particular at Petplan. Has anyone had any experience with this insurance company or any others? Also wondering about conditions like MVD and if any insursance would cover that? Seeing Marley is a CKCS it is something that may happen down the track even though his parents etc were screened for it... knowing our luck he'll develope it! Anyway any help would be appriciated! Thanks
  3. How terrible, RIP Benjamin bunny
  4. that would be fantastic! thanks for all the help everyone!
  5. hadn't thought about turkey, good idea! I was wondering the same thing.. is it hard to cut up roo tail?
  6. hahahahaha thats a good idea.... especially when he's in a naughty stealing mood!
  7. Marley always loved munching on raw bones however since his stomach problems we can no longer give him chicken or beef, what other bones would be appropriate for him? He eats raw kangaroo and i was told to get him roo tail but so far the ones ive found look way to large for his silly mouth! What other types of bones would be ok for a sensitive stomach?
  8. Thanks for the reply, where abouts is the canine dogshop?
  9. Anyone know of a place to get a snood from in Perth? Atm Marley is wearing a headband at dinner time but as his ears get longer its not working to well. I would make one myself if I wasn't totally untalented when it comes to sewing etc... I wouldnt know where to start!!!
  10. Wow..... i totally suck at photos now!!!! how on earth did you people do all that stuff?? and where did you learn? I want to make a signature but have no idea how to do or what program to use? Any advise for a dumba.. like me?
  11. I do haircuts, groom outs, bath and blowdrys and dye! Marley had a dye recently i'll upload photos soon, he had foils put in his tail purple, blue and green The kids at the park love it hehe, so does Marley he loves the attention he gets from it!
  12. Marley had bad staining, but it was because of eye problems (distichiasis). He's had surgery and it fixed it up. However he is now having problems again, staining and his chops are pink ... after running tests and all of that he's either allergic to something he's eating or its a contact allergy. With Cavaliers its not that its 'normal' for them to have staining they are just far more prone to these sorts of problems, its just finding out what's causing it that can be difficult! Goodluck!
  13. I know its so scary to think they sleep on their beds!!! I had one dog that when i clipped it back it was COVERED in fleas!! You could smell the dog when it walked into the clinic and the dog was an indoor dog that slept on the guys pillow... I dont even want to know what state his house must be in! SCARY!
  14. I feel your pain! I've just started at a new place where the last groomer had upset many clients and now I have to cop it from them. Then when they get their dogs they are really pleased and suddenly nice to me, never mind how they spoke to me at drop off! I make sure i speak to every owner about what they want and go from feet to face making sure they have explained in detail what they want done. That way I don't have to worry about any misunderstandings. What really upsets me though are people who come in with dogs that are totally matted and expect a long haircut...for starters the fact they arn't even embarrassed by the condition of their pets coat is alarming and secondly they then abuse me when I tell them it had to be clipped off. Get a clue! "I hate when people insist on things that look silly like that as you know as soon as the dog steps onto the street there will be people (and other groomers) looking at it saying "OMG, look how terrible that dog is groomed. That groomer cant be any good" SAME HERE ARUGH I feel like telling me to not tell anyone that I did it... for example this guy who hand drew this picture of how he wanted his maltxshihtzu .... with a massive beard like a schnauser a fringe, clean shaven feet and a lion tail it looked so silly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Well ever since Marley was desexed he's turned into a little b*****d! I doubt it had anything to do with being desexed more just a coincidence... He has always been happy go lucky mad Marley. OBSESSED with other dogs, always ready to play... However this change in behaviour is very undesirable and has left us embarrassed on more then one occasion. Each time its been a puppy not an adult dog that has unknowingly upset him and each time his reaction has been the same, he starts growling ferociously and stands over the other dog in a very dominating manor.... !!!! Why would he suddenly start bullying other dogs?!?! And the puppies aren’t always little the latest incident was at the vet clinic today and it was a 6month old Samoyed puppy... I don’t know how to stop him from doing this or why he would do it in the first place.... Any help would be appreciated!! Here are his statistics: Marley is just over 1 years old, Male, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He was desexed about a month ago. Well socialised with all size dogs and animals! Never shown any aggression, been attacked or had any other bad experiences! Always loved playing with dogs of all sized, colours, sex, age etc!!

    Chocky

So beautifullySo beautifully written… I’m all teary you captured his character so well it made me feel like I knew him. What a wonderful dog he was and how lucky you both were to have had each other. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling right now but your in my thoughts. Hope your doing ok RIP Chocky
  17. My cav boy is 6months now and ever since we brought him home at 9 weeks he's humped the toy the breeder gave us.... must smell good or something
  18. Nothing wrong with washing your dog once a week. Unless its drying your dogs skin out then I would either change brands of shampoo/condition, add something like fish oil to diet or wash once a fortnight
  19. Yeah thats what i thought I'm not really sure what he meant by that, maybe he's just trying to cover his A$$ if after 2 weeks it hasn't improved? I dunno
  20. Hello everyone, Well Marley our 6month on CKCS pup has a sore back leg. After seeing a vet at tafe (I’m a vet nurse student) she recommended we have x-rays done, so i took him to our regular vet and had x-rays. No visible breaks, fractures, anything like that. However his knee is slightly clicky. It's not a luxating patella either. The vet’s conclusion being he's either torn his meniscus (hopefully not) or done some damage or muscle/tendon. So for 2 weeks he's on anti-inflammatory and strict rest. If after this period of time things aren’t better he's recommended either going to a specialist to have a scope put into the joint to see what’s going on or opening it at their clinic and having a looked. I'm inclined to go to a specialist if need be with him being a pup. Anyone had something like this happen with a pup? My other question being... how do we keep a very active 6 month old pup entertained for two weeks when he's not allowed to act like the maniac he is?!!? He's already fed up and being very naughty, I’ve tried giving him things to chew on, Pigs ears, Kong’s, chicken wings etc He really wants to play with his best friend next door (which is how we think he did this injury...) It’s only been 4 days ... ARUHGHHHHHHHH
  21. she looked just beautiful, i'm very sorry for you loss
  22. Ok then, I guess we'll just have to wait and see I don't mind either way. Its amazing how different their coats can be, I know a cav girl who has never developed hairy feet they look like they've been trimmed short, really strange. Where as Marley has had really hairy feet since he was 9 weeks. One other question seeming it was over 14 years since we had a puppy, at what age approximatly do cavs get their adult coat? I can remember my last cav Jakey went through a really 'teen' phase and we thought he was never going to grow long hair (we were VERY wrong!) I think it wasnt until he was about 2 that he had his full coat... does that sound about right?
  23. My old cavs coat went wooley after we has him castrated... has anyone else found that? I ask as Marley will be reaching 6months soon so we'll be getting that letter from the vet, I had read on another cav forum that some people had found that their coats had changed after castration. However my cav was older (I think 6) when he was castrated so its not like I can compare him to a young dog thats castrated. Anyhow jsut seeing the word wooley reminded me, any opinions on that?
  24. We were told by our breeder to feed: Breakfast: raw chicken mince(with the whole carcass ground up) and tucker time Lunch: Puppy biscuits (we chose natural balance) Dinner: same as breakfast They said to add in table scraps such as left over veggies, rice, pasta from 16weeks onwards, feed raw lamb shanks, chickens wings etc... I'm not sure if thats an ok diet, i'm still figuring it out
