  1. It won't happen in our life time but we can always dream !
  2. Well perhaps I should have said "OTHER that the USA". I am also NOT talking about organizations (Kennel Clubs or registry's if you prefer) that only register specific types of dogs, such as working sheep dogs for example...or a specific group of dogs , or specific types of sport such as schutzhund etc. I am talking about organizations which are the 'main' organizations for the country...organizations that are responsible for registration of puppies , pedigrees, all breeds dog shows, restricted to breed shows, obedience trials/schutzhund trials(?), Agility plus other dog activities recognised and under the umbrella of the country's chosen KC. Other than the US .........the greater majority of other countries have one "main" controlling body. 3. Tapferhund, I took your post as recommending to ask Dogsvic if the ANKC are members of the FCI That's right....OR DogsSA if you live in SA...and the same for Q'ld, NSW,WA etc. for those who live there. where personally I would prefer to hear it from the FCI themselves if the the ANKC are members or not. ;) But why....when you will get exactly the same answer from DogsSA if you were to email them. Any of the State bodies, including their representatives who make up the ANKC, are not going to tell you 'porkies' one way or another on the issue. If we are members they will say so and if we are not they will say so. If the ANKC are not members of the FCI, they can virtually do as they please, but if they are members and breaching FCI protocol, it adds a further dimension into the debate with added pressure applied for why they shouldn't be removing working titles from a dog's pedigree. The ANKC can do as they please anyway....UNLESS they get huge member reaction over an issue. To belong to the FCI does not automatically give the FCI over ruling power over a country's official dog organization. (If anyone is out there who can correct me on that..please do!) The FCI as far as I am aware, permit only one organisation from each country to be a member. If the ANKC are not members, it leaves it open for another organisation to apply for Australian FCI membership ........and the ONLY organization in Australia is the ANKC. No different to any other country as each country has , as far as I am aware, ONLY one Canine Control governing over all in their particular country. So it can't leave it open to 'another' organization...because there isn't one. (Again......if someone knows differently....please enlighten us all) I would imagine which is up to the FCI if it's accepted or not. I am a member of DogsSA which I have already written to them regarding this situation as both my dogs have Schutzhund/IPO working titles in their ancestory. ;)
  4. Optimistic. That's me Optimistic??? Is that what you call it . Okay.....I'll believe it ;) I am writing on this forum and others to bring it to the attention of people........so that's helping the cause too !
  5. With respect Tapferhund, Dogsvic could tell you anything. It's best coming from the FCI regarding membership status IMHO Another organisation can easily be formed to take up the FCI membership status for Australia if the ANKC isn't Malsrock, I am lost for words ;) May I ask..are you a member of a controlling body?? And....what do you mean by your second sentence?????
  6. I wasn't expecting that you would (although was hoping, seeing as you are encouraging others to write). Not sure what your "not born yesterday" comment was about. But not to worry. ;) Thanks to Greg for helping out . No, I am not going to put my letters up Erny. Apart from the fact people on this forum are capable enough to write their own letters, you will just have to take my word that mine are done, sent and i have replies to all bar one...the FCI letter. ;) This is one delish latte!!
  7. That wasn't called for. Why not! I am sitting here with a coffee reading about writing to the FCI when it makes more sense to write to 'the source' Dogs Victoria.
  8. Tapf .... it would probably be helpful if you are able to put up a copy of your letter, if you would? People would be able to read, gain some writing inspiration and form their own letter/s from there. believe it or not I wasn't born yesterday Erny. I really don't think people need 'my help' ;) on how to write letters. The CEO's email address I gave you (previous post) is from the reply I received to my letter to Dogs Vic. The other email address you need you will find in other pages in this topic. ;)
  9. *sigh* ...wouldn't it be easier to email Dogs Vic for the information you want on whether we are FCI members or not? If nothing else the reply would be would be quick and in english! Here is the CEO's , Mrs E. White email address [email protected] And if ANKC is not, apart from anything else it means the door is open for another org to perhaps take up the option ??? I don't think so! What 'other' organization is out there to 'take up the option?'
  10. IMO it doesn't matter if your breed doesn't have "National" body ...as long as your breeds club/s , along with as many individual members you can rally, put down on paper their opinions on the matter and send it in to their States controlling body as well as the President of the ANKC. The more individual letters and emails they get , regardless of whether you own a German Shepherd or a Belgian Shepherd, Rottweiler , Boxer or Dobe......it ALL goes toward having this stupid directive overturned. MalsRock, Australia is not even an associate member of the FCI. I know it has it up on the FCI website but I can asure you we are not a member. I too thought we were but I have seen written evidence that clearly states we are not. The reasons being we , probably due to our quarantine regulations amongst other things , cannot hold CACIB shows ...and it also has something to do with recognition of FCI standards.
  11. Yes Pam, that's where the directive was first noticed....on the Dogs Victoria web site.
  12. The Vet and Associates who were there prior to the change of hands.....were fantastic Vets. I was not only a 'client' of theirs for 30 years ..I also worked there, they were the BEST! Then when she retired and sold the practice.........the new ones.....well..I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot barge pole. I took one of my dogs there to the new Vet/s.........BIG MISTAKE !!!! I would not recommend them AT ALL! The Vet up in Toorak Road ...heading towards Hartwell from Burke Road..have been there for years and I believe are very good Vets. Do you mean Waterson's vet clinic? When I was growing up we lived in Camberwell and used him for a number of years, but found it rather expensive, and changed to Burke Rd vets for a number of reasons. Bit OT, but I've since moved out of home across the other side of town, and now found I have David and Phillipa from Burke Rd as my local vets here Yep, they're the ones......I have always heard Waterson Vets are very good ! The Blackburn Vets sound good too !
  13. 14. Gypsy !!! Love your beautiful blue eyes !!!
  15. The Malinois people have said that very rarely does one of their breed come in with Working titles so they are not fussed about the removal of the titles because it is not a point of breed worthiness with them and never has been. what the? Who told you that?! Nekhbet, It was said ....but on another major forum. The person who said it is involved with WL and heavily involved with Schutzhund. They basically said the Mal clubs wouldn't care as mal imports are rarely titled anyway....and as there are very few mal WL breeders in Aust. the chances of them being able to make some noise is limited. This affects so many dogs, why doesn't everyone just put the 'breed' aside, and stand united. I think I read somewhere that about 4,000 dogs were affected by this ruling, therefore it should be a strong voice to the ANKC if everyone just pulls together. Absolutely agree with you wednesday
  16. Well - I don't want to get a Shepherd, join the GSDCA nor get on its committee. But that shouldn't stop someone being able to explain it so that it CAN be understood. Unless there is skulduggery going on that prevents it from being clearly explained on a public forum and that the only way to find things out is to go 'underground' . Erny, we have had our differences in the past but you never cease to surprise me on how low your thinking/mind is and I wonder is it really to 'learn' or is it to 'stir the pot'.......and unfortunately I think it's the latter. Shhhh but guess what..... There is no 'skulduggery' going on ....only whats in your mind to even think of such a thing. Everything has been explained to you over and over and over and over again in OH so many topics about GSDs and clubs.........but I guess there is none so blind as those who DON'T want to see (as the old saying goes) As to the rest of the trouble makers on here........write letters or don't ! I don't really care...because there are HUNDREDS of us left in the dog world who do care and they are the ones who matter. Bye!
  17. Erny, get a Shepherd, join the club, get on committee, get involved ! Then you will understand ALL ! :D so I think being a member of AnKC (or NZKC) makes you as much a member of FCI as anyone is. Staranais, Only if the ANKC and NZKC are members . I know I have ben saying 'yes we are' 'no we're not' members.......but I found out the facts today.....Australia is not a full member or an associate member of the FCI. NZKC......I have no idea.
  18. Erny, if you are a member of the ANKC and would like to write a letter to them voicing your concerns ...then do. Page 1 of this topic has the ANKC directive...its self explanatory...and its a load of rubbish and why they came up with it nobody knows....as no one was consulted over it.
  19. Erny, It's simple....... The ANKC directive was on the Dogs Vic website......and it was brought to the attention of GSD people . I have written to the FCI, DogsVic, WUSV and the GSDCA and so far I have heard back from DogsVic and the GSDCA and they (GSDCA) have taken and are taking action by getting in contact with other breed clubs. That's all any of us know at the moment .
  20. If the working breed clubs in Australia can't work together, I'd say you are all sunk. It is sad to see. Couldn't have said it better myself and I agree with you.
  21. Mine does too, but the KNPV titles are not listed on her AnKC pedigree - I assumed the AnKC had already deleted KNPV titles from our pedigrees, or that they had never been on there? And, if the breed clubs don't stop sniping at each other & start working together, I'd say the AnKC has already practically won. Staranais, why don't you, while you are voicing your opinions on removing of schutzhund titles, ask the ANKC about KNPV and where that stands etc? I agree with you about the sniping too.....but leave the GSD folk out of that as all we did was bring the ANKC directive to the attention of all ....and for our pains, once again, have been set on by the usual bashers from other breed clubs.
  22. "I would join a full FCI member association in a heartbeat." Me too. I think a lot would actually! Interesting stuff the KNVP!!!!!
  23. I wonder when everyone will stop bickering amongst themselves when at the end of the day they all have the same purpose. What is done, is done, and lets just move on to see how we can all come together to rectify this. Couldn't agree more wednesday !
  24. Hi Erny, All I can say to you and SharpShep is many , over decades, have been speaking up for/fighting for Schutzhund and the GSD and the closest we ever came to recognition and acceptance by the clubs and the ANKC was back in the early 1990's.......but it all fell through. Now the DPI is involved (Vic) we can kiss the sport goodbye for ever as Govt's NEVER see reason, nor do they listen to us (as you yourself found out over the PC issue ) who they see as plebs and they DEFINITELY do not overturn the idiotic decisions they make on behalf of US. We all know we all should be doing Schutzhund for ALL the reasons mentioned in this thread and others.........but it's not going to happen......at least here in Victoria anyway . SharpShep, if you want answers to your questions, the best place for answers is the GSDCA. You will find contact details on their website.
  25. Well take your dog there for a run and if the club is there...go and have a chat. As for somewhere for your flyball club......you might need to talk to the council . The other thing too....the dogs in Eagle Heights are well trained , well behaved and quiet...they don't upset the neighbours with constant barking ...whereas Flyball dogs are the opposite...very noisy.....so you might not be welcome by the neighbours which could result in complaints to the council.
