  1. You're not having a lend of us are you Kashing? Not Trolling are we??? The reason I ask is you have all this information which you must have got from someone or somewhere and yet you don't know the meaning of any of it. Surely those who gave you the info on these dogs and puppies, told you what it all meant at the time? You also supposedly don't know where to go to find information. If thats the case, then how is it you have names of dogs and want to know about hip/elbow scores, survey meanings etc?? You must have been "looking" in the :right" direction for this info. If you are genuine, then I apologize .......but going on what you have written and are asking so far, there is no way I would sell you a puppy.
  2. Get real FFaK. WHERE in my post did I say "should just be ignore"????????? I am not saying such instances should be ignored but they should also not be treated in the way they are.......in pure over reaction and overkill....treating people like criminals. Instances such as these are accidents and the dogs owners do not set out to deliberately have their dogs attack or rush at another. Their dogs ARE under control , but , for whatever reason, these things on occasion do happen....and its just as horrifying for the dogs owner as it is for the other party...but as you said , dogs are dogs and IMO this should be taken into account . Dogs have been having shots at other dogs since time began ...and up until recently, the two human parties , one would apologize to the other, both would tell their dogs off and that would be that.....done and dusted ...all over and done with. But not today. Today we expect our dogs to behave like humans at ALL times in getting on with each other, even if they don't like each other...and if they don't.......the carry on that goes on over it by the idiot humans is ridiculous. But why I am trying to explain this to you I don't know ...especially after reading that last sentence of yours. No understanding whatsoever imo.
  3. Is that all of the states canine associations gone to hell? licences, registrations, memberships - thats looking after their members alright. Look after their members?....now that makes me laugh . IMO these associations have TURNED on their own . The Canine Associations have 'crossed over to the dark side' in that they support , by their very own actions, any laws brought in by any authorities. For example , if a dog dares act ONCE like a dog , for whatever reason , in having a snap or go at another dog while on CC hallowed ground....all HELL breaks loose for the owner/s! The owner/s of the dog are treated like they have just committed some sort of capital offense and their dog is treated like it has some dreaded disease . Its never allowed on CC hallowed ground again and that includes ALL dog clubs around the State, until it has been 'tested' at some time down the track. (bloody ridiculous and overkill/over reaction to the extreme imo..........AND by our very own) The thing is, if we can't rely on 'our own' to look after ' our own' with help and support in all situations .....then what's the point ?
  4. While it's not good to be bitten under those circumstances .....I tend to agree with the comments made by the dogs owner. Joggers , as do bike riders, give no warning they are approaching and it can frighten the living daylights out of you !
  5. I keep reading these kinds of statements but have never seen evidence of there being a number of strains and the vaccine only covering a certain number. Can you provide a source for this? Ask your Vets Anne, they will tell you the vaccine only covers a certain amount of strains. IMO, and even though Canine Cough does only cover a few strains, it is wise to have it done. The dogs may still contract CC but they don't seem to suffer as badly with it .(in most cases)
  6. Christie, always use human consumption foods (meat) such as the chicken necks etc. Minced bone (necks) should be okay to feed....but as with anything you feed......add a little at a time to the diet until the pups system is used to it. (Usually takes a couple of days) Also, just a little tip about Vets. Most like to recommend the foods they sell...its all about the 'bottom line' and profits. Look up Dr. Ian Billinghurst on the internet. He has written many books and has a book out called "Grow your Pup With Bones"
  7. I wouldn't be feeding the shell as the shell could do a lot of damage if it cut the dogs mouth while it was chewing on it. As to feeding whole mussels.........I would make sure they were super fresh so as to avoid food poisoning. I would think feeding powder or capsules would be better as they would be a higher concentrate in the nutrients you want. ??
  8. I love both dogs and bitches and have both...but I have to say I do love my bitches as I have always found them more reliable, they're more protective and they make better house dogs.
  9. I wouldn't be putting boiling water on the Eukanuba as it could destroy nutients within the food, Why don't you put some of the cooled chicken juice on it instead from the boiled chicken you do? There is another excellent dry food on the market.....Artemis dry foods and their puppy dry is a terrific one if you like dry foods. The other thing is you can feed fresh raw meaty bones to pups ! Bones such as brisket bones, veal bones or beef and even pork bones such as hocks with the meat as well. Chicken necks are good or thighs with the meat on them. You can also ask your butcher to mince the chicken necks if you are worried about him chewing on bones.......although...chewing is good for his teeth and gums...his whole body actually. To the RAW minced chicken necks you can add Vets All Natural complete mix which you have to soak down before adding to the meaty minced bones or whole bones. Other things you can feed are a little offal such as liver, hearts and kidneys once a week....or sardines once a week. Egg once or twice a week and other things such as yoghurt. Its up to you...but there are a lot of good nourishing foods out there but just remember if you feed natural.......it must be fresh and raw and not cooked as cooked is not natural for dogs and its not good as the cooking destroys a lot of nutrients. Do some research on natural feeding and look up Artemis Australia as well as Vets All Natural.
  10. I am very sorry that you were attacked , its just dreadful ...but you did do something to provoke the attack. Before you judge my comments as offensive just re read the highlighted section of your comments. To the dogs.....you were very near or too close to their territory .........and to dogs ...they don't see that just the other side of the fence is a "no go zone" and that they are only allowed to protect 'their' side of the fence. As bad as any attacks are .....like I said....there is always a reason. You just gotta look for it.
  11. :D ;) I haven't read the whole thread. But I have to ask you: have you ever been set upon by three very large dogs? I am getting quite dismayed by all the dog bite threads in which people show very little sympathy for the people who are attached. To start with the guy wasn't set upon by "three" large dogs , he was bitten by ONE of the three large dogs (his words on the news) Try to imagine what it would be like to be an innocent bystander suddenly being set upon by three very large dogs. I wonder whether you'd be calling it laughable then when people/police came to your aid and then pursued the dogs by whatever means possible. Oh paleeez ! Innocent (?) bystander??? You don't know that and neither do I. For all we know the dog approached him and he kicked it in the head causing it to retaliate.?? Which is probably what did happen ...but did anyone ask him or question him over it?? Dogs do not wander the streets looking for "innocent bystanders" to attack. They also don't bite for NO reason. There is always a reason !!! What annoys me are folk like yourself who never think,"what happened that caused the dog to bite in the first place?' It's always the 'poor innocent bystander' mentality instead! More than two years after the incident, I still have the scars from being bitten THROUGH A FLEECY by an SWF. I hate to think what I'd look like if I'd had a few puncture wounds from dog/s the size of a Ridgeback. *Shock horror* Don't tell me..........another "innocent" bystander ???? :D
  12. Regardless of breed or temperament, EVERY dog needs to have a safe and secure living environment, particularly when the owners are not home. :p Spot on !!!!!
  13. Well when I start to see many a little old lady walking these big tough dogs, then I'll become less judgmental of the typical tough dog owning bogans. :p
  14. Tapferhund, I didn't see any PitBull in these dogs so please dont make judgements such as that and also not all Bull breed owners are bogans and bad owners dont buy into the media hype with such generalisations smile.gif Robby, apart from the dogs looking very pit bullish, it was said on the news (radio) that they looked very PB'ish. The dogs were larger and imo looked PB X Ridgeback. ...and I am sorry but the greater majority of people who have these dogs ARE bogans such as the owner of those dogs. Most are men and are between the age of 18 and 30 and their dogs are some sort of 'status' symbol for these mens shortcomings (LOL) Only the other day , while out the front of my place, two very large very muscley American Bulldogs appeared in my driveway. Initially I thought they were roaming until I saw their owners . The owners, a man and a woman, were built like the dogs......both were body builders and looked like "Arnie" in his hey day of competition. Both looked as rough as bags and tough with arms sticking out while they walked along. He had nothing on but shorts .He was very obviously wanting to show of his muscles as well as his tough muscley dogs...who were both off lead and with no collars. Its sights like these that makes people like me make judgements and generalizations. When you see these sort of bogans all the time with dogs like Pitties or AmBulldogs.....how can you not !!????????
  15. Its not a case of them not being tracked down........but a case of the way it was done....by sheer terrorising and cruelty. As to the dogs biting children.....one had its chance when it brushed past a small child . The dog was at its heoght of terror and did it bite? NO!!!!! And I for one am sick to death of fearful people jumping on the band wagon of "But what if it had been a child?" I would also like to know what happened to the two puppies that big brave policeman captured when at the dogs house? He had one under each arm as he stormed past the camera ..with conquest written all over his face. The pups did nothing and were at home when ONE of the three roaming dogs bite a guy.......and yet ALL dogs, including pups, have suffered inhumanly for it. I too am so over dog attacks and the fools who own these dogs...but I am also over the knee jerk OVER REACTION by the authorities and media !!
  16. The owner might be a knob.......but its still no excuse to run down dogs.. terrify them..or to shoot them either. Even the damned ranger who got one on 'the pole' ...picked the dog up and chucked it , like it was a piece of dirt, into his van. If the dogs hadn't done anything and had been treated that way........everyone would be yelling cruelty and get the rspca. The dogs have the right to be treated humanely .......regardless of what they have done.
  17. TOTALLY AGREE Steve !!!!!
  18. Well I am about to have one of my Shepherds done (hips/elbows) and I was quoted nearly $500 which is disgusting......especially as I have found out from two friends who paid nowhere near that price. They paid (at two different Vets) $170 and the other $200 . So doG knows where my Vet gets $500 from. I think its about time Vets were held accountable in what they charge . They seem to be a law unto themselves and charge whatever they like. IMO they need to be regulated. I think you should shop around for a better price that the rip off price you were quoted by your own vet.
  19. Well just saw the news and the young guy bitten did have a few nasty bites on his legs. The dogs looked like PB's X Ridgebacks. I did feel for the dogs though....running terrified from police and others. The police even tried to run down one of the dogs which is bloody cruel imo. The mongrel could have injured the dog and if it had got away could have suffered terribly or died in agony somewhere. Just awful. My understanding ...ONE dog did the attacking and the others didn't and yet they were hunted and chased too to the point of being terrified. The police went to the owners house and shot two dogs and took two puppies away. The owner was that typical yobbo type that seems to always have tough bull breed type dogs. IMO he should have been the one to get shot...not his poor dogs. It is not their fault they were owned by a 'd*ckhead. Anyway the whole situation is very sad with once again the poor dogs suffering the consequences.
  20. According to the news it wasn't that serious an attack but the guy did get a bad scare (as you would)........but its just the whole carry on over sensationalism over loose dogs or dog bites etc that I get fed up with PF. The way people and the media carry on ......you would think the dogs were deliberately rampaging the streets of Melbourne planning their attacks and escape routes and that the public were in GRAVE danger . Sorry...but if it weren't so serious it would be laughable. The seriousness is that it reflects on ALL dogs and ALL we dog owners and in some way down the track.....we will suffer for it in further legislation AGAINST dogs. :D
  21. Tapferhund

    *sigh*

At this rate , with all these dog attacks lately, it won't be long before dogs are banned completely. Watch the Nine News tonight. There was another dog attack ..somewhere in Melton today. Three large dogs (Ridgebacks??) supposedly attacked some guy on a train station before taking off. The guy wasn't injured very badly but the Police chased the dogs (helicopter involved) and shot one of the dogs. The other two have not been found as yet. Now I am not supporting dogs who attack...but REALLY ...talk about over reaction ! They're dogs for gosh sakes......they're not hardened escaped criminals or rapists ......but with all the carry on by cops and media...you would think they were. If the police were as on the ball in giving chase to human criminals as they are to three poor bloody dogs........we would all be better off. :D ridiculous !
  22. What it DOES do is give authorities much more power to take short cuts (which they will, given the lack of funding truly available to animal control); dog breed profiling, owner profiling, the ability for authorities to deem some owners as unworthy of pet ownership... based not on their behaviour, or any problems they may be experiencing, but a set of undetermined arbitrary rules set by a government agency under advice by national animal welfare groups. This is what worries me . IMO Councils will abuse their powers by saying 'no' to everybody within their municipalities. It will end up that no one will be allowed to have a dog ..ridding dogs from all areas. So be careful in what you support. In theory licencing sounds great but in reality it would sign the death warrant in dog ownership for us all .
  23. If people were not dishonest & puppy farms did not flourish maybe it wouldn't be needed. I do not think I am a disgrace & should get out of dogs. I think I would be a disgrace if I let them go without protecting them & this is the only way. Sorry Christina but that's a crock ! Or am I to conclude that , as a breeder , you don't screen your puppy buyers , sell with contracts and just sell to anyone who turns up wanting a puppy? And what happens if someone who buys one of your puppies..ends up with a little stunner and wants to learn ...become more involved and show or trial their dog? By castrating/speying..you are denying new puppy people from entering into your own hobby..the hobby of dogs. We all started this way..even you (?) and yet you deny anyone that same chance. Personally I think it is a very selfish attitude and one that doesn't protect puppies from all sorts of other problems when desexed too early. But hey ...as long as they never have a litter of pups ...... :D why worry......
