  1. Thanks guys will definately try the frozen bones.
  2. I do find that when I freeze chicken wings in broth they really enjoy them and take ages to eat. but I hadn't thought of freezing the breakfast bones. will give it a go. thanks
  3. My bullmastiff puppy 4 months old loves her bones. I give her chicken wings and lamb brisket bones, but I think she is swallowing them almost whole. should I get her larger bones that she has to chew up more or is this ok?
  4. I started Nala at Pine Rivers puppy school last night and I found them very good.
  5. yes this sounds just like KC, we have just been through it with caesar. we tried to give him Benadryl dry cough mix but I wore more then he took. It did help a little though. it is much like a human cold and Caesar has recovered fine. As long as the dog is not a puppy or older dog, I would just keep and eye on them for temp or if they beginto get worse then straight to the vet. the vet may want to come out to you as KC is very contagious. honey from the health food store cant remember its name starts with an M may also help sooth the throat it takes a week or two to fully get rid of the cough
  6. not sure how well this works but I was alking with a naturopath today and she recommended penny royal oil. just rub a few drops on your hands and then wipe it over the coat not into the skin though. also put epsom salts into a blender and turn into a fine dust , add a few drops of the penny royal oil and shake well then store over night in a glass jar. this can then be sprinkled in the bedding and under the house. I will be trying it out tomorrow so will let you know how it goes. good luck http://www.sunspirit.com.au/webcontent41.htm
  7. it was the normal needle that she had. also can you tell me how long KC lasts as Caesar is still coughing, but other wise well and eating and playing.
  8. I had Nala vaccinated 8 days ago with C4 or C5 now Caesar is coughing. the dogs have not been out of the yard and we have no dogs in any neighbouring yards. my question is can the vaccination cause other dogs to get canine cough? my daughter has had the same reaction from her older dog 300 klms away when she vaccinated her pup.
  9. Louie are you planning on showing him or is he a pet and so cute its not funny
  10. my vet treated my 9 week old puppy with frontline spray as we are having a bad time with fleas at the moment and he said it is safe for puppies from 2 days old. the only reason that flea products are all classified as 12 weeks and up these days is because they are not allowed to trail the products on pups under that age. but frontline spray has been around prior to these rules apparently according to my vet and is deemed safe. this is my vets advise so no flaming just passing on information and the fact that Nala has had no adverse reaction from the frontline except that the flea problem has improved.
  11. yes there have been a couple of threads of late on here of older dogs killing the new puppys. so if you do get a puppy pen it really does need to be very secure if you are going out. I would highly recommend that the pup be locked inside if you have to go out and leave them until you are absolutley sure.
  12. I have just been through this process of bringing home a new puppy and having a 5 year old dog at home (boxer adult and Bullmastiff pup) . I have been really lucky with them and he just loves her to bits and lets her get away with everything from chewing on him, sleeping on him and eating out of his bowl. As you have said it is a good idea not to leave them unsupervised together until they have bonded, but IMO and there a those on here with much more knowledge then me, they should spend as much time together as you can supervise while the pup is young so that they can bond. be very careful at meal times and with treats as this can be a time when problems arise and I would feed them apart. good luck with your new puppy

    Vomiting?

I wouldn't be worried if it was a one off and the pup is otherwise well. Puppies and even older dogs occassionally will vomit for various reasons, to clear there throat, or over eaten. However if it persist or puppy is lethargic or there is blood in the vomit I would go straight to the vet. good luck with your new baby we want pics
  14. IMO you would be well within your rights to ask for a refund. this breeder was irresponsible to sell a puppy to such a young family. One of the first questions I would as when I used to breed many years ago was if the had children and there ages. And when I bought a puppy recently it was the first question the breeder asked me.
  15. My boy was the same as you discribed. Brought up white phlem and wouldn't eat his dinner. It had been a really hot day. the next morning he was back to his usual self and hungry as always. But as advised if no better by morning see a vet for piece of mind. good luck
  16. Hi I dont profess to be an expert on this topic but my boy Caesar had skin problems when he was young and I fed him a diet of home made dog food, rice, pasat veges and raw chicken mince (from the butcher, pet quality $1 kg) and I use a Science Diet dry dog food from the vet or good pet shops. hope this helps, my boy can know eat anything, but I usually stick to the home cooked wet food and a good quality dry food. best of luck
