  1. So glad to hear your little boy is feeling much better Menty.
  2. I know the breed you are speaking of, and it makes my blood boil. I guess if PP handed them over to rescue if they don't sell, at least they won't have to fork out $$ for a vet bill. Although I'd imagine a discount would be given to them. That is provided they actually get euthed rather than drowned in a bucket. I guess dropping off some info wouldn't hurt. If a new owner wants to research the breed though, there is loads of info out there on the net etc. They just need to research it before buying the dog, rather than when they reach 8mths old and things are getting out of control. :D
  3. I don't really think a Pharoah Hound is the right choice at all for a first time hound owner. More of a specialised breed imo. I'm thinking Whippet or Greyhound would be more suitable.
  4. Sorry I haven't read the whole thread (just the OP) but first thought for me was meningitis. Age is right, fever, and sounds like painful muscles esp. neck muscles. Hope your little boy is well again soon.
  5. She looks great! And look at her shiny coat. PS. Whippets aren't meant to be skinny. They're lean :D
  6. I know all breeds need training and any breed can be boistrous, but there's a huge difference between owning a labrador pup and a whippet pup, esp when it comes to children in the household. I'd be more inclined to wait until the youngest child is at least 4yo. Preferalby older though. Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  7. Thinking about it now though, the kennel looks too heavy. Not to mention trying to move it with all that growth around and the chance of losing a finger on the rusty tin. Will put my thinking cap back on.
  8. This gave me the idea of relocating the kennel if that's possible? Is there a more desirable section of his area that would make it easier to catch him. I'd say he'd still make use of it if it's moved to a more accessable area. Just a thought anyway. Good luck to you all with the next attempt.
  9. Where I work we use the LA Metacam for dogs over 10kg. At a dose rate of 0.1ml/10kg The reason for this according to the bosses is to save $$. So 0.25ml for a 25kg dog is just right.
  10. Glad to hear it spottychick I have had mine zipped shut all day. We are currently living in a swamp, and I don't want their little paws dirtying the sheepskin stuff. Each time they all come inside, they zoom to the crate wanting to get in, and have a look of utter disappointment when they realise it's closed. :D Some of the glares I've copped are hilarious!
  11. I read this too quickly. I read the me as my.
  12. I think the Top Buy people owe Secretkei a free crate or something similar. Without this thread, they'd still have a warehouse full.
  13. When my husband saw us all in there together, he said "Oh good, you can all sleep in there tonight" ;)
  14. Um.....no I'd never let a dog lick a wound. That's gross! I hate it when mine try and lick the water off my legs when I've just jumped out of the shower, let alone a wound. The amount of bacteria even in a healthy dogs mouth that doesn't appear to have dental problems, is still more than I'd like near any open wound of mine.
  15. I ordered mine Tuesday arvo and it came today. Totally awesome. Thanks again to the OP for posting this thread. It's so light too! Four whippets and me can sit in it! They love it already. They're alternating between the crate and the couch, and Whiz has stolen Daphnes toy and doesn't want to come out. I think he's trying to claim it as his own.
  16. Are you talking your tooth brush, or your dogs? I couldn't make my own toothbrush last for 3mths! I do the same Kirislin. Only one not quite every three months yet is Daphne.
  17. :p What a sad world we live in. What on earth is happening to people? Makes me so angry to see something like this. She was tossing them in there like she had not a care in the world.
  18. By the way, thanks SecretKei for this thread.
  19. I just ordered the super large one for the whippets! Was attempting to discuss with OH which size etc, he just shrugged and went meh, that's your department. Get whatever you want! Hmmm.............tempting!
  20. What size would people suggest for 4 Whippets? They add up to about 53kg! They usually curl up so small when huddled together on the couch, yet can take up a queen size bed too.
  21. They do, but you pay a premium - there's a footnote to that effect. Glad my dogs don't read DoL, they'd be expecting that level of service here Oops, I missed that bit. From the website* Chateau Poochie will accept unneutered male dogs and unsprayed female dogs at an additional fee. This fee is incurred due to the ‘specialized care’ and extra time that will be needed to see to their proper care and well being. Everyone make sure you spray your dog before you take her there, otherwise you'll incur extra costs!
  22. Interesting that they don't take any entire dogs over 1yo too.
  23. Nothing can quite pull it off like a whippet! Looks like Toby had himself some fun!
