Techniques do work but you have to be patient, seriously it is doing what pups do & i often can't figure why people get so feed up with little puppies for being normal . Reverse the scenario as if it was you at work & someone was getting feed up with you & how you would feel I would also avoid telling him off & placing in the crate .The crate should be a place he fells comfy to get in not be a punishment den,if you do wish to use it for time out then you need to place pup in there in a calm/quiet manner not angry. Being scared is a serious over reaction & if you feel that way then you will not connect with the dog. You have no reason to be scared nor do you have any reason to be demotivated for something the pup has no idea. Your body language during this time would seriously affect how your dog interacts with you & the dog will either play up more or become less inclined to want to be around you after all who wants to be around another person that would treat you the same way for no good reason at all. Often the techniques don't work because people give up,are boring ,speak like a mouse or have no substance to the voice tone ,they are boring so why should a pup want to listen . Many people say no 10 times ,the dogs name 10 times & after awhile the cue words mean bugger all because when said nothing happens they just part of the normal vocabulary used every day & often around the dog. What have you started to teach him?? Generally you will see the signs of getting to excited so be prepared to stop the game before the dog losses focus. If certain toys/games get it over excited then don't encourged it until you have some control. It really is seasy but most people have an issue when it goes pear shaped & there was plenty of warning, just like toddlers

We spent an hour plus at the emergency vets last night with a 5 month old joey that was hit ,The people knocked on our door 10pm distressed (young boys) Our rangers are good here but this one was still hopping. So off we go doona in hand to catch roo, into dog crate & of to vet . It was PTS as it snapped its major leg bone but atleast it didn't suffer. We have had police come out & shot big roos with bones hanging out going crazy around the road & our ranger is able to shot them as well. We also do pouch searches . We stop within reason ,

I would never feed hills but that is my choice due to the high wheat & corn & that being a known breed issue Diet very much comes down to what people want to feed, what works well for there breed, growth issues & the dogs in question. What works for one may be awful for another. There is no perfect diet but there are plenty of diets that work well for many dogs without any issues at all Have you followed the diet sheet the breeder recommended for both dogs ??

On the news tonight they where warning dog owners who swim or the dogs swim to be on the watch for Bull sharks after 4 juvenile ones have been caught Maylands & another area where higher risk. I have never seen sharks there although it is common knowledge they have been seen & spotted but the Biull shark wouldn't be the choice of shark to meet ,nasty buggers

Poor Old Staffords Being Dragged Around In The Heat
Dogsfevr replied to jadesamara's topic in General Dog Discussion
No dog should be walked in that heat but people do. many may take a dog out for a quick toilet break which i have no issues with but a walk beyond that is stupid, not only the heat on the feet but the obvious heat exhaustion risk. The sad reality is some people lack common sense . I remember a lady on TV whose dog was rushed to the Emergency vets saying how she couldn't understand why her little shih tzu collapsed whilst on a walk in 40 degree heat ,serioulsy how stupid can you be . Maybe contact your local radio station or paper & ask if they could remind people about the heat risk to dogs being walked in the extreme heat -

I have cool champions & the chamios ones & find them both excellent. I like having the option of the lighter chamois when needed & is easy to use in the ring

Minis are normally "everyone" dogs ,all ours are certainly active .We do occasionally get some pups that we now will be more laid back but generally speaking they are very sporting dogs provided they have been encouraged to continue that way. If the other dog was older & the mini wasn't encouraged to be more active then she has been trained into a routine You say the daughter since the other was PTS is now spending more time with the mini ,did she not before?? How old is daughter?? How involved will she be with the new dog?? Who will be the main care giver long term?? What is the nature of the mature mini ,does she interact with lots of young dogs,is she playful or more happy to just be people focused??

I haven;t used a giant but do own one but last year was the first time they measured my wires which are both max height ,have used those crates for 4 years with no checking . i would say you you wont be allowed or they will do it under the giant breed requirements

Seriously are you kidding or simply have no clue. Megz i have found the snake chains not to last like they use too for the price especially the fine ones. The thicker are just to chunky. I use the fine link now & they have lasted well

What are you using now ?? The good brands in Australia are more than suitable for 2 mini Schnauzers & as Becks say the faster they go the hotter blades get so you will need to buy extra blades to do the job.

Dogsfevr replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry but this is so not true & i do wish people would not make such claims when they have no idea about the breed -

Want A Dog, But Need Help Choosing A Breed.
Dogsfevr replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
I wouldn't be concerned about small because big dogs have there own pitfalls . I own both big & small .(7 kg up to 42 kg) i would suggest heading off to a dog show & seeing the breeds -
Sighthound doesn't equate to cat chaser. Any breed of dog can be a cat chaser more so than sightnounds. Sighthounds don't chase anything that moves . i now many sighhound breeders who also have cats & no issue
