  1. If a dog bit me and it was at fault, I wouldn't tell anyone. I couldn't live with myself if a beautiful animal had to be put down because of my stupidity. You take your dog out in public, if you have not worked out human nature by now you need to look at yourself not everyone else. I wont encroach on someones personal space, I wont go near a dog in a cage, but if a dog is out in the open unattended and I can read the body language positively.............well, if you don't like it, stay home.
  2. I think it is polite to wait until someone is around before touching their dog. I would suggest dont leave your dog unnatended if you are that concerend about your dog. The Royal Show is (or was) a pretty open area with the dogs sitting about 2 feet from the public walkway As I show at the Melbourne Royal I know the set up very well. Unfortunately I do have to attend the ladies from time to time and if the person I asked to watch my dog is distracted, like untangling another dog caught up in the tether, it does mean my dog is left exposed to people like you who have the hide to think it is a petting zoo and you can do what you like. Extremely rude behaviour. I just loooovvveeee Greyhounds too, so watch out next time, I may be patting your dogs while your doing your business!
  3. I think it is polite to wait until someone is around before touching their dog. I came back to one of my dogs in it's trolley going off it's brain, because some numpty had decided ( while I went to the toilet ) to come under my tent, wake my dog up and proceed to stare it in the face and crouch down to get a closer look... I didnt go under anyones tent, if I see a dog sitting alone unattended, in a public arena and showing good body language, I will go and say hello and give it a pat. If I see a dog sitting outside a supermarket, I will say hello and give it a pat. I apologise if people think thats wrong.....but ill probably keep doing it.

  5. I think it is polite to ask if there is someone around. Years ago I went to the Melbourne Show and they had Great Danes there. There was a dog sitting in the boxes they sit in and there was no one around, so I gave him a nice chest rub. I turned to walk off and someone grabbed my shoulder, I looked over my shoulder to realise it was a pig paw sitting there, apparently the Great Dane hadnt quite had enough of the chest rub.
  6. Thanks for the reply. The area is shaved. There does not seem to be any obvious redness or swelling. It was done on Friday, would over filling still be present, the limping is worse today. Could there be any permenant damage from over filling?
  7. Would there be any outward signs of infection.
  8. I am just after some feedback on what could be wrong. My girl had Stem Cell Treatment using donor cells on Friday on her elbow, today she is limping quite badly. She was limping on Saturday and Sunday but it seemed to be getting better, but today it is obviously worse than yesterday. We rang the vet today and they said to try Anti-Inflammatory’s for a couple of days and then if it is not better to book her in. I am going to book her in for Thursday regardless. She has Stem Cell treatment before and limped for maybe one day. Does anyone have any ideas if this could be considered normal, or what could likely have gone wrong during treatment to cause damage?
  9. Were the xrays done at your local vet or a specialist? My first lot of xrays were done at the local vet and nothing showed up, it was not until we went to the specialist that the ED was clearly visible.

One of my two is that the Vet so much, one year they sent us a Christmas hamper for being one of their top customers.

    Sbt With Lumps

One of my Staffy girls had something similar when she was a pup, we took her to the vets and got an anti-histamine shot etc, the good news is it never happened again. You mentioned BARF, so thought I would just say my Staffy's dont do well on Beef, they eat Roo and Chicken but have a bad reaction to beef (Not lumps though)
  12. She is 4, way too young to be suffering so badly form arthritis, but thats how it is since we didnt pick it up early enough.
  13. Here is my girls operation from a about 3 year ago: LINK for a fragmented coronoid process. As the problem was not diagnosed properly for probably 4 months after I first noticed a limp and asked the vet what to do. After the operation I was told she will also develop bad arthritis, which raised its ugly head about 4 months ago. Since then I have tried Stem Cell Therapy with no luck, which I may give another go as her limp can get quite bad at times.
  14. I assume cardboard juice and not plastic juice bottles. My two Staffy's have not taken a chunk out of their Hurelys or their Hucks. The Bumi has not been so lucky, the end has been chewed off.
  15. I dont understand the "outside dog" concept, if people want a dog to be an ouside dog, why bother getting a dog. My family have always considered our dogs part of the family, hence allowed inside or outside as they please. I think when someone says "my dog is happier outside", it is likely because the dog has not really had much of a choice form early on and is now used to being outside. I am not trying to be critical, I am looking for genuine answers as to what purpose a dog serves just sitting outside by itslef 23 hours a day. So, going back to the original post, why do your friends actualy want a dog when the it is not allowed inside and the kid is too young to be outside with it, they are probably better off waiting 4 or 5 years.
  16. I use Jointguard and am also looking into fish oil, I have ben trying to find fish oil with vitamine E but cant find any at the moment, I may have to resort to Viramine E tablets. I have stayed away from her Pentosan injectons as I wanted to get some sort of neutral baseline, but I have her booked in for a Pentosan shot tomorrow. What is IV Stem Cell treatement, is it something that needs to be done in conjunction with the original stem cell injections or is it a different method and can be done seperately?
  17. Can I enquire what method you had done? A PM is ok. Sorry, I havent been back for a while. She had donor cells injected into the problem area, I am not sure of the technical details and am not sure of the differences in treatments, but would welcome information as I prepared to give other methods a try.
  18. My Staffy had Stem Cell Therapy on the 21st of December on her elbow. From my side I have to say I havent seen any great improvement, the big test will be winter when effect of her problem becomes more pronounced but even now her limp is similar to what it was previous to the procedure.
  19. One of my Satffies is a notorious head butter, she doesn’t mean to she just gets so excited and wants to get as close as she can. She has hit me a couple of times, once in the nose which hurt but not broken, once her tooth caught my cheek bone as her mouth was open when she jumped, a bit of blood, a black eye, but lucky it was me. We have to be extra careful when friends bring their kids over, she loves them so much but the excitement could result in the above. I keep my dogs behind a fence for most of the time, but let them out for a play with the kids under close supervision. The kids just love the "head butter", when she calms down, she is just the most gentle beautiful girl, I would hate to see a similar dog put down because of an accident.
  20. Would they be inside or outside dogs? I wonder how would these breeds cope with the heat of Deniliquin. I know one of SBT's would really struggle as she really feels the heat, my other one loves the heat so may cope fine.
  21. My two get Kangaroo or Chicken BARF for dinner. I cant feed them Beef as they seem to start reverse sneezing constantly after eating it.
  22. Thanks for the reply, it puts my mind at ease with my girl having the procedure tomorrow.
  23. Are there any negative side effect to the donor cell method, such as rejection of the cells or the possibility of the donor cells carrying some sort of disease that could be passed on.
  24. It is possibly something that they haven’t thought of or don’t recognise is occurring. One of my Stafford’s started getting really distressed at times, to cut a long story short, she is terrified of the wind, because it makes the door slam shut. We also could not work out why all of a sudden she would not go out to the sunroon in the mornings, which is their room, worked out eventually it was the hot air baloons.
