  1. In Melb, we reached our top temperature of 16 degrees at 7am.... all down hill from here... I bet it is freezing at Geelong. Sorry Gumnut, weather radar says temp is 9.5 and pouring rain....sort of glad I didn't go! No, actually GLAD I didn't go.
  2. And follow signs to the show/showgrounds it will be advertised.
  3. very good point Lappie Mum. Just rang Mr Adams, he was very kind. It seems a few entries have gone astray (5 discovered so far) and mine was one of them. My cheque wasn't banked so I gave him a call and not in the catalogue........ so no show for me as I am not entered
  4. I haven't got my numbers yet, hope they are there when I get home from tonight..... Interesting more dogs in Group 7 on Friday than Saturday...
  5. There are 2 types of bike attachments that you can get, I have a springer, there is another one also. They are the safest things to use when exercising your dog with your bike. They lower the centre of gravity and attach to the main frame of your bike. They also have a quick release for emergency situations. Using these leave your hands free to hold the handle bar rather than attaching the lead to your hand and if the dog pulls your bike is pulled over too. They are inexpensive and worth every penny.
  6. Y would you....is a clever name and also, to get the answer to the question, you simply have to look at the dog! She is outstanding...
  7. You don't have to send an envelope at all, when there is a circuit I often just get my numbers on the day. You can collect the numbers when you get to the show. I would probably send ONE SAE and if they decided it bothered them, they can just send back the applicable numbers. And if they were really nice and send them all back, well that would be nice too.
  8. If you have won BIS/RUBIS I dont see why you would want to compete for the other awards. BIS and BISS are the trump cards and the others are interesting and fun but no big deal to me. I also think out of courtesy to the judge and other exhibitors that exhibit should not compete in further competition under the same judge except for things such as brace or parent and progeny. But if it isn't stipulated then it is up to the handlers ethics and we all know that people often do things that others don't think are PC or polite for the sake of a ribbon and bragging rights.
  9. Ellegant Kennels Aussie Shep was Best in Show. Border Terrier was Baby in Show, Akita Minor in Show, Bernese Mtn Dog Puppy in Show. it was a beautiful day ;)
  10. It is wonderful that he is now back with his real Mum. I hope it doesn't affect his temperament in a negative way in the future, but I'm sure that is secondary.... the most important thing is that he is home now.
  11. So Sorry to hear that news, I hope you are able to get a sweet photo of him for a tribute, that sounds like a lovely idea.
  12. More than anything because they humanise their own pets, think they are a gift that everyone else must surely want to share, and that having puppies is easy cheap and fun.
  13. Good on you for being honest and making an effort to find the owner..... wish more people were this honest....
  14. From the initial report, the only mention of the dog being punished for doing his job, is the parent of the child saying " I dont think the dog should be PTS because of this". That is based on their presumption that that would be the outcome of the dogs actions on the job. Who, that is in a position of authority or knowledge of the outcome, has actually said there is a possibility this is the outcome of this situation? There is no official statement in this regard. Most of the contributions to this topic are by people jumping to conclusions based on the word of a person who's house was being searched by police and police dogs, being quoted by the media and reported in a paper. Lot's of room for error there. This is how mis-information occurs, it's just a beat up story by the media. You see they raise interest in their story from many perspectives, I'm sure the dog and child will be fine.
  15. Thats terrible!! You should have brought it to the attention of the show officials... Including all the other things that go with attending, I'm sure it would have cost you way more than your $20 entry fee....
  16. I am on the last Friday so can't go in the sweeps, sounds like a great opportunity though. Just reading the schedule now and wondering if I mis-read it - it says Sweepstakes will commence at 6 pm with the exception of Friday 24th - I took from that NO sweeps were on Friday 24th.... anyone else got any thoughts on this? It's too late for me to enter now even if I could.
  17. What a terrible experience, my heart goes out to you. RIP beautiful boy.
  18. Sanctioned Competitions generally conducted by non-affiliated societies and invariably held to raise money for schools, charities or similar activities. Usually it is in the same format as an Open show - no cc's are awarded.
  19. What a great day for you CC!! Congratulations you must be a very proud breeder
  20. Some clever pedigree names there that made me smile. Congrats to the winners and good luck to everyone going to the Melb Royal this year.
  21. I vaccinate my puppies according to the vets instructions, I have had different instructions each time, it depends on the vaccine they are using at the time.
  22. A really sad thing to happen. It is an accident and not anyones fault. RIP little puppy. I hope they will get a puppy from you in the future and feel happy again.
  23. I am concerned about this post mis-informing people as it is my understanding you are talking about two different vaccine choices, not one vaccine where you decide if you re-vaccinate or not.......
  24. I think OP's money would be better spent on soooo many other things that come to mind.... I'm not sure I will write them there, but just leave it to your imagination....
