  1. What the judge asked for at the Wei national is a very uncommon and detailed particular request - that's why it caused such a stir and lots of talk. We are also talking about a specialists ring/show. In an all breeds show "a loose lead" is just that. Some judges will only ask for a loose lead, not also ask for a "walk". I have often heard, "take your dog on a loose lead". For instance a GSD running ahead of the handler can still do so on a loose lead. Besides, once the dog is ahead of the handler, it would throw its gait off terribly if it wasn't on a loose lead.
  2. Im so sorry to read your story, please don't blame yourself. RIP Phoebe.
  3. yes, I've been buying it from there for a while - it used to be $1 per kilo and then the next week it as $1.50 per kilo - how is that for a price increase? I understand that it is minced chicken frames. It is not always available when I go to purchase it, but I have a feeling it is bad management on the part of that particular store. It is always very fresh, but I freeze mostly what I buy as I buy a weeks worth at a time.
  4. So cute, thanks for the photos and well done on the results.
  5. Hi, I agree with all said above. My understanding when a judge says, "walk on a loose lead", is that they want to see the dog gait at a trot, naturally on a loose lead. They do not want to see the dog being strung up, which will alter its movement (often done intentionally by a handler). A trot is the gait that most judges use to assess movement, so I believe most want to see a trot on a loose lead. Not many will want to see a true walk, it does happen but is most unusual.
  6. Gr Ch. Kalaska Aussie Boy, (Samoyed) was BIS today.
  7. I have rolls and rolls of photos - pre-digital - for this exact reason. I am so thankful we now have digital photography and know immediately if we have snapped a good pic.
  8. That's kind of you to let them know. There could be many reasons, they may have even selected the wrong photo for uploading, afterall it is only a click of the button.
  9. So nice to hear you enjoyed it - that is why we here are all hooked on our hobby, enjoying a day out with our beautiful dogs sounds like heaven to us. Once you start going to shows and your eyes are opened to so many beautiful breeds, all looking their best, it will make your decision even harder. At least there will be knowledgeable people there who can help you to decide which is the right breed for you. Good luck
  10. Bait pouches are a necessity, I refuse to ruin my good clothing by putting food in the pockets etc, it's just gross. A check chain should do the trick, correct and release, rather than a paracord which just chokes the dog to hold his head up, while he resists. If you dont know how to use correctly, ask someone who has done some obedience. Sorry if to you it goes without saying, but from past experience I've realised and been surprised at just how many people DON'T know how to use them correctly, even though they put them on their dogs. Also the ridiculous lengths of chains that people put on their dogs, they make them in different sizes for a reason.
  11. Read Dancinbcs - very carefully, it is an excellent and informative post. Essentially most dogs dog not go much earlier or later than one day either way from conception - the thing is we don't know exactly when conception takes place, hence people end up talking about these big discrepancies.
  12. This is all so terribly sad, I can't read the posts without crying. And really am quite lost for any words. Jed, when you are well again, please know that I am just one of many praying for your healing and strength to deal with your terrible loss.

I'd much rather have a dryer with a longer hose than a stand.

Don't forget those of you who feel you are experiencing different levels of power on your dryer compared to others with the same dryer, they need to be serviced and if you are noticing a drop in power, a service and some new brushes will see it come back to the origial blasting power it had as new. It will also extend the life of your dryer. Service it before it "dies" completely and you will be amazed that it will keep going and going.
  15. Mercedes, how long was it that your dogs were missing? Any more updates on this girl?
  16. I've admired her before, she is a stunner, so beautifully balanced. Congratulations and hope there are many more wins to come!
  17. Excuse my ignorance, but if there are no regulations - if the dog sires a litter, doesn't that in itself mean he is old enough?
  18. How frightening for the dog and owner,to in a strange place and losing your dog. The owner must be frantic. I hope she is found soon.
  19. That was a great win, Congratulations
