    Growling

You know the saying... "Let sleeping dogs lie" Try having some food in your hand when she wakes up and coax her outside with that, once she's gone to the toilet give her a reward and let her back in.
  3. I'd pick something (preferrable not tinned food) say chicken mince and a kibble and stick to it. Keep leaving it down for 10-15 minutes each meal time and if she doesn't eat it then take it away and try again at the next meal time. Eventually she will eat... Once you've got her eating introduce other things (like bones etc.)
  4. I've been tossing up with the Nutro and EP :D I was lucky enough try some of the Nutro and thought it was great... I think that pretty much answers my questions then doesn't Nutro it is :D I LOVE the Nutro Performance haven't tried the puppy yet though.
  5. Miranda, What size breed do you have? I knew you'd have a good answer for me but I was surprised you had changed (do you think you'll change back at some stage)?
  6. Hi there, For all of you that are Eaglepack users could you please answer a few questions for me (I have contacted Amba (EP Rep) and told her I am interested) however, I'd like to see what works for you guys and which type/s you give your dogs/puppies... Which EaglePack? Age of dog? Have you tried more than 1 type from the EP range? If so, why were you more happy with the one you currently feed than the other? TIA Looking forward to your responses...
  7. mimdeledio: I wouldn't like to go stating maximums and minimums some lines are much slower to mature (like mine) (so Sarge would fall into that category since he's related)... You'll probably find that by now he will be finished growing length and height wise but you may notice changes in him up until he hits the 2 year mark. Our Spyder went through so many growth stages (maturity wise) between 14 and 24 months, one day I'd look at him and think yuk! the next I'd think gee you're finally looking good again :) Spyder's around 13-14kg, all muscle and currently in lovely condition (weight wise), I find because he's a big, heavy dog who's really energetic he needs more than the others to keep the weight on. Chelsea is at a lovely weight at the moment and she weighs 12 kgs (for male and female comparison) It all depends on the dog, as long as you're happy with how he feels and looks then you're going ok We must remember that they are a Working Dog so they should be moderate (not huge and not so small they look as they are a Toy breed)...
  8. We feed a diet based mainly on raw but they do get a little bit of dry each day (some will agree and some will disagree) but this works for our dogs...I generally change them over to adult dry when they reach 12 months everything else remains the same (bones, raw meats, vegies, yoghurt etc.) they all get that
  9. It's rare for a Corgi not to be a piggy eater but I have known a few so don't worry, Doug isn't on his own Out of curiosity (just a thought)...does he get any table scraps? Maybe he thinks he should be getting them ALL the time and this may be contributing to his fussy habits. Is he crate trained? If so maybe put him in his crate and give him a lamb flap or something to chew on, this way he can't hide it somewhere outside and may be more inclined to eat it on the spot? There are lots of different things you can try, but remember to try to only give him the things you want to continue him with (like bones, meat, vegies etc.)
  10. Just to add to mimdeledio's post... Some boys (and girls) end up heavier than the standard states...big boned dogs tend to go over, it's all about the individual
  11. Let's not forget that Doug is going through the dreaded growth spurts where he has probably lengthened out and WILL look long and thin. Our 8 month old girl looks shocking at the moment - she's so long and with that appears thin (you can feel her ribs) but she's carrying perfect weight. Don't stress, maybe throw him a lamb flap a few times a week as well, our guys love them
  12. showdog: Totally agree with showdog here...you are letting him dictate to you what he will/won't eat - that's not good! YOU need to decide what you want him to eat and stick to a routine. bikle: you said that he will starve and it's not just as easy as stopping changing his diet around... It certainly is, I've dealt with many fussy eaters and believe me, once they've realised you aren't going to play the game of serving up a smorgess board every night - they will eventually eat! If we have a fussy eater here, they are fed at the same time as everyone else, the same food and if they do not eat it then it gets taken away and they are fed at the next meal time. I had one girl go for 2 days, on the 3rd day she picked at it (at both meal times) and the 4th day she ate it all and never looked back. We feed alot of RMB's (raw meaty bones) so you could try him on the BARF diet - he might do well on it - just experiment. It's really import that you stop allowing him to pick and chose, you're making a rod for your own back and one very fussy eater! JMT
  13. Yes you need to worry - hopefully someone familiar with the breed will come on here and help... You need to find out which specific tests should be done on the breeding pair and then make sure you view the results (clear) before purchasing a puppy.
  14. I don't think they are fat but I'm not all that familiar with the breed either...
  15. Try 3/4 of a cup of dry at meal times to start with?
  16. I'm sure they aren't going to be emotionally scarred by you cutting back their meals...
  17. I think you've been offered some great advice yet you don't want to use any of it? Cutting back the amount may be the only way that they will lose their excess weight. I'd be cutting back on the dry and pet mince and adding more vegies until you see some results then balance it out...
  18. PM greatdanegirl she should be able to help you out
  19. Interestiong I've always been told that some large breeds when fed dry (not soaked) in the summer months can bloat because after they eat the dry they drink a lot of water and it swells causing bloat... Thanks for the other side...
  20. and... what sort of prices are we looking at and what size bags? sorry to hijack your thread!
  21. Is there a rep in NSW or a stockist? I'd like to get a sample of the Adult Performance... and the Puppy?
