  1. Hope Grumpy is recovering, poor boy. It must be very worrying for you all. A couple of years ago I used the RC sensitive stomach kibble when he wasn't improving and it cleared up his gastro quickly. Mine managed to get bitten on the neck by a spider.....the wound looks gross but he seems in good spirits. The vet giving me a bottle of large antibiotics to give him twice a day nearly gave me a heart attack I knew it would be impossible. Luckily she had a two week lasting injection of the stuff but was reluctant to to offer it because of the price. I chose option two! Hope he's back to normal soon
  2. Dogmad, have sent you a private message on your topic. Kept calling you dogman, sorry
  3. Hey TigerJack, I agree on sizing, I'd go one larger. When I used ours on our boy, the new puppy thought it was a blast and punctured holes in it! Luckily it's covered with a sleeve and I was able to use super strong sticky tape over the holes. It worked
  4. There's another type of collar that I use but can't remember what it's called, sorry. It's a blow up, shaped like a big donut that goes around the neck (you attach a flat collar to it) so it stays in place. Its much more comfortable than the plastic cone, my dog uses it like a pillow when sleeping. It's worth ringing around to try and get one, for my dog, his stress levels went down considerably wearing this one than the one you have. Hope your boy gets well soon.
  5. Having similar problems (even though back door was open), my breeder suggested I do this: Clean up the area as the other posters said. Once that's done spray the area (I spray everywhere inside) with a mixture of lavender oil and water. Make sure it's the pure lavender, not artificial. Then, spray some oil mixture on your hand and rub pup under his chin, around the mouth area with this dilution. Go easy here. The theory is that he won't be able to distinguish his own smell to that where he's been peeing on, so will stop the behaviour. It's worked for us! I'm so grateful! The trick is to do it every fortnight (or when a pee happens) as it does dissipate and the pup does it again. (well, mine did). Although the oil is expensive, give it a go and good luck.
  6. I use Spoilt Dog for my two big hairy boofers and wouldn't go anywhere else. All the dogs, what ever size or breed come out looking beautiful. She makes a point of getting exact instructions as to what the owner wants done. It's a happy, professional environment.
  7. Gawd SB, I am such a doof! Will get onto it now, thanks.
  8. Casowner, thanks for asking around
  9. Sue Brown, did you know d4dogz is based in South Africa? Spoke to Petbarn but they won't send/post to me in Adelaide
  10. Thanks everyone for your replies. Will make some calls Monday.
  11. Have tried a couple of places but they seem to be out of stock with no idea when they'll have more. Anyone purchased any recently? Thanks
  12. VJB< can I ask you where you get the venison ears from? I've tried several places but they are always out of stock. Ta
  13. If you are seriously still concerned get a referral tot he Adelaide Veterinary Specialst and referral centre - 102 Magill Road - 8132 0533. There is a canine specialst there Dr David Davies, and they also have a specialist surgeon there (as well as other specialists). You cant go wrong there. I also suggest a referral to Dr David Davies at the Adel Vet Specialist. He is highly regared.
  14. There's another type of EC that is a blow up, like a giant donut. I just can't remember what it's called at the moment! Purchased it for my boy and he just used it like a pillow when he went to sleep. It's extremely comfortable for the dog and they can eat, drink and see all around them perfectly without feeling trapped. The ProCollar! That's it. Google to see what it looks like, a genius invention. Hope your pup gets better quick
  15. I think the Glenelg Vet Clinic do it also. Maybe worth asking there.
  16. My 2 year old also had an upset tummy that went on for 4 weeks. He had his good days but towards the end we put him on antibiotics for 10 days. Went to the vets several times. I think mine was stress related as he had gone through several medical proceedures over a short time beforehand. As Dagma suggested, he's on the probiotics now (daily) and is much better. I use the human grade one kept in the fridge. Hope your dog gets better soon.
  17. Mixing cooked food with the kibble seems to work for me. Also, if you're desperate try this: Microwave 1 teaspoon of butter till completely melted and rub the kibble through this thoroughly. I've done this once and couldn't believe how fast they woofed down their kibble but it's not to be done too often I'm affraid butter seems to be the only way I can administer tablets when needed.
  18. Now Group *dol* has 225 candles from 6 countries Add another one here
  19. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, wheatens gotta jump up on people. I knew my boys were normal!!!
  20. Guys, how do you wash pups head? My boy is getting a little better with each shower but so far I just wipe his head/face/chin with a wet cloth (no soap). I see pictures of dogs being totally soaped up on their heads/face but am not really sure if I should do this.
  21. Molly & Sheridan, am soooooo glad to hear your wheatens getting up to mischief :D Some people think that I'm such a bad dog owner/trainer letting them get away with murder! Their dogs never counter surf, jump around like a kangaroo and use the house as a running track! But deep down they're such good boys, I've seen it so I know it's true! And don't forget "the look". "You don't love me" look when they're being told off or not taken out....his little heart is breaking into a million pieces. They can be so dramatic sometimes ;)
  22. Since getting my second boy Wally, I've given up trying to keep the house clean. He believes every twig and leaf should be inside with us all. He loves to splash in the water bucket, run through as much mud he can find and get his big brother to chase him, preferably through the house All our friends love our wheatens...at a distance! They're a handful as stated. Took Murphy to see one of the oldest practasing vets (he must be getting up to 80) and he said, "a dog with a personality, how charming"! And by the way, they're great if you need your ears cleaned and have run out of buds
  23. There's a few of us here I've got two full brothers. One is just over 2 and the baby is nearly 5 months old. Ask away, happy to answer where I can. Mine came from a Sydney breeder. Beautiful boys, happy as little pigs in poo
  24. gareth, I will be giving him some probiotics starting this weekend. Tried the yogurt & yakhult but he refused to take it, even mixed in his dinner. My boy has been under a great deal of stress lately with several medical proceedures in a very short time space so we wanted to aviod him being jabbed and poked yet again, thus we chose the antibiotics at this point. It's not ideal, I know. Things are slowly getting solid and he is feeling much better within himself. He's going on Wathams kibble also. Thanks for your advice with the herbs.
  25. My two year old has had this on and off for 4 weeks now. He went to the vets and they said to just feed him bland boiled chicken and rice. He'd have 3 good days and then 2 bad days but I could see his tummy was bothering him. He then went on to have mucus in his stools. Took him to another vet and have put him on antibiotics for 10 days. Things improved except the rice made him a little constipated. Day 5 of the antibiotics and he is back to his happy self, playing and wagging his tail. Tonight he ate the other dogs dinner, mince and kibble and now I can smell the farting over again. Less solid stool this evening. Back to chicken and some rice plus finish the next five days of antibiotics. Keep a close eye on your dog. Look for little signs of him being uncomfortable. With mine, he was a little sooky, didn't wag his tail as often, not so keen to play longer than quick spurts and looked sad when no one was looking at him. Good luck
