  1. Glad it wasn't just me..... ;)
  2. IM glad this thread has been revived, I was wondering how the ones who had installed it had found it to use, I cant speak highly enought about it, I just love it, so easy to use, I dont do much at all in PS now. Just curious, for anyone who uses lightroom now that used PS before, do you do much stuff in PS now??
  3. I so know the feeling, I have taken quite a few pics today and porbly half of them that I thought look great on the camera look really shitty when I see them on the pc, so annoying!! CM, lotus looks adorable, fab shot!! Bec you husband looks like a honey!! Oh am I allowed to say that?? Great shot! I always say im gonna take more human shots but I have no willing subjects atm. ;)
  4. Thats great!! I think I asked in another thread but haven't gone back to see if you answered, what camera do you have your pics are always so clear and sharp!!
  5. Me to wish we lived in Brisbane! Not sure why your doing a course because your photography is always just amazing?? Hope you can post some of the pics after the shoot!!
  6. Another cutie, with amazing eyes!!
  7. Heres two from me today, our little friend that we are puppy sitting for a couple of days, he is such a lovely little dog, he is a SEDA pup his name is Sonic!!
  8. SBT your last two shots were great, I love the one without the flash the best!! are you doing your black frames in PS?
  9. jrm, Im with Bec, your parrot does look like a poser Huga, your little one is adorable, those eyes are just beautiful!! Lucianne, I agree with Macka, have a play around with some shots, see if you can get some subjects, if your Brothers and sister are willing, get them pulling funny faces and have some fun with it and remember to move your subject and your position to alter the light source. When I first started out I always used to take heaps of photos and then id look back on them and realize I didnt even move from my position once. If you are working with smaller subjects get down to thier level, or put them up to your level. If you camera has any modes on it you could try these for something different, most point and shoots have a portrait mode. Have fun and look forward to seeing some of your pics soon.
  10. Awesome shots Ripley, the little bird is so cute, and the car soooo shiney!! PC, nice horses glad you joined the challenge!! Just a quick add on to the raw chat, if you use light room you can import your raw files strait in and then once you edit they can be easily saved as jpegs, LR is so simple to use!!
  11. With the inside one of TJ, I lightened it a bit, it really should have been lighter but I had the Ex comp on -0.7 whoops! I used a preset in LR and gave it the aged look, also vignetted white around the outside. With all the outside ones, All I did was a tweak of temp, exposure and black, also vignetted black around the outside and a little clarity as the 50mm tends to soften the outside of the pic. The great thing I find with light room is the ease of editing with the sliders, its fab!! I thought there were a few goodies so I posted them on FB, if anyone wants to have a looky they are here, http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=155985
  12. Ohhhh So many great shots here today, I was looking forward to getting home from work to check out this thread, It inspired me to go pick up the camera and take some snaps, Im just uploading them now. Pandii, I use light room for editing, I also have CS4 but dont use it much since I discovered light room, it is just awesome!! Ok here is mine for today, a few more than one but I couldnt choose,:D They all taken with the 50mm, shutter speed 100 iso 800 inside and 400 outside, a little editing in LR I think the caption on this one should be "im so over this" and two of my big boy cause he is soooo bootiful!! Think Im going to have to find some willing humans to take pics of although Id rater take doggies than human. :D Whoops just checked my ex comp and it was on -0.7 I guess it didnt hurt, I just forgot to check it.

  21. Oh Hes a cutie!! Does he have a sore eye? or did you catch him in a wink??
  22. Hey Pandii, I found the easiest way to start in Manual is to have your camera on one priority mode at a itme instead of trying both together, So I think by memory your pentax had tv and av mode, put it on av mode and set your apeture and let the camera choose a shutter speed for the shot. so if you are inside have a play with your iso, I usually go around 250 - 400 depending on how dark the room is, practice on the kids, the av mode is how wide the opening in the lense is so you choose that and the camera will decide how fast to take the pic if that makes sense. have a practice if your shot is white then the opening is too wide so back it off a bit and remember that the smaller the number say f2.8 the wider the apeture. Just as an example the apeture setting on my Schnazer shot was f5.3 but my iso was only 100, if I had my iso higher I wound have had to change the apeture to compensate. I just read back what i wrote and not sure i even understand it all Maybe i should leave it to the pros!! ash may be able to explain in more easy to understand terms?? But for me learning to shoot in full manual took a lot of time and even now I still choose one or the other depending on what i am shooting. Hope this helped a bit!
