  1. So a NIG should get more points but a REAL class, say Intermediate In Group doesn't get any more points, sure that makes sense NOT. At The Rock yesterday there were TWO neuters! OK, it was sweeps and no points on offer but if, as has been stated many many times, your dogs REALLY want to just show, then where are you all? I hear how ALL these people with neuters want more shows to offer the class but am yet to hear of a decent entry when shows DO offer this class. Now some of you are saying you should get more classes, even your own group, and more points! Maybe when there is actually a reasonable amount of neuters being shown these things could be considered. Instead of campaigning shows to put on the classes maybe you should be campaigning the owners of neuters who say they really want to show.
  2. Hi, I dont show a Neuter but was thinking......definately need to get more shows to offer these classes.....but the owners of Neuters need to be a bit more proactive and either petition Club Secretaries and/or join Clubs and give yourselves a voice......then these classes also need to be supported with entries and it might be a good idea if Neuter owners offer to donate the sashes. With the points.......maybe what could happen there is with NIG the winner gets an additional point for every Neuter entered in the Group to a Max of 25 and the same for NIS with the points not accumulating. Just a thought.....
  3. Hi, Orange and white male Pointer........unreg desexed Tenterfield Terrier.......I also handle 2 Vizslas who think I'm their show Mum
  4. Hi, I hope someone told this person off....how bloody rude !!!!!
  5. Hi, I have also seen a lady in a wheelchair show a Cattle Dog the same way........I have also seen several owners for whatever reason who cannot run, use a runner, and the owner sets the dog up then the runner takes the dog and the owner stands in the marshalling area, basically as per the rules.........but from what I have seen there is alot more latitude given to wheelchair handlers.......and so there should be!!!!!!
  6. Hi, This is the main part of the rules for DogsNSW, 12.21 Use of Runner by Disabled Person (3/08) (a) Upon application, the Board of Directors will consider requests from disabled Members to use the services of a runner to assist in the exhibition of dogs in conformation Classes. Such applications must be accompanied by documentary evidence of a disability in the form of a Doctor’s Certificate or evidence of a Disability Pension. When approval is given in such cases, the following conditions apply; (i) the runner used must be a member of Dogs NSW or of another member body of the ANKC. (ii) when utilising the services of the runner, the disabled exhibitor is required to either leave the ring or retire to the perimeter of the ring as closely as possible to the point at which the dog is to be, or was, presented for assessment by the judge and at such times is not permitted to gesture to the exhibit in any way. (iii) in any case where an exhibitor intends to use a runner at a show, a copy of their approval letter must be either sent with the relevant Entry Forms or presented at the Secretary’s Office for the Show at least fifteen minutes prior to the advertised commencement time for judging.
  7. Hi, These rules are slightly different for each state......and for NSW come under the heading of Exhibitors needing a runner ( or something similiar) just go to each State head body....and look up the rules ie DogsNSW......just go through the menus, you dont have to be a member to look up rules, and you should find them in the Show Section. For Dogsnsw.....look up rules for Show section 12:21 Use of a Runner by Disabled Person
  8. Hi, This was on ozshow as well..... breed results will not be put up until the entire Group is done.......must be a secret....LOL
  9. Hi, I feel this rigid attitude of allowing dogs to stand in heat, cold, wet or storms basically not to be judged.......is just another example of controlling bodies really not following or setting an example of welfare for both dog and exhibitor. .........and don't start me on the NSW Heat Policy !!!!!!!
  10. Hi, If you have someone going up earlier than Friday get them to save a space. We got there last year Thurday at lunchtime and got the last spot at the Gundog ring......you'll probably still get a spot on Friday but just not near your ring. Not going this year......this was excellent last year....though very tiring.
  11. Hi, Hunter Valley Kennel Club NSW today - Group 3 Judge Mr G Whitefield NZ - Bracco Italiano - Raki's Place Viva owned by Joseph and Renata Mirto (Hipoint Pointers) went Best in Group. This is the first BIG award for a Bracco in Australia.
  12. Hi, I got mine on line from a shop in Queensland......and I think i found it by just goggling but try www.springer.no then see who the Australian distributor is. They go on the post under the seat....and the arm easily detaches for when you want to go without the dog. If you are planning on doing ANKC Endurance.......at this point in time, they cannot be used.
  13. Hi, We run our Pointer with the a bike.......though our is just a local road which turns into a dirt which takes you to a lookout, so perfect. We use a Sprenger with a harness but also have a collar and lead.......being a Gundog......he sometimes wants to do exit stage left after birds.....so this give a bit of extra control. This is really good fun, but what I have now discovered is our dog he doesn't run nicely beside you but pulls non stop, he doesn't do the bike brakes any good. So now thinking of getting a dog scooter and tugline and doing sledding. Cheers
  14. Hi, You can use the pin on an armband.........this does look a bit neater. Just get some brown elastic min 2cm, put velcro on the ends. Put the clip on the elastic band.......works very well.....and easy to change numbers. Cheers

  22. Hi, There is a very good article on Hendra virus put out as a feature article by the CSIRO....if you google Hendra vrus you will find it. The article state that initially Hendra was call Equine Morbillivirus but with further genetic analysis more appropiately Hendra was classified as a new genus of the paramyxoviridae family of virus'. This famiy has to branches and some of the virus included in this group are Measles, Mumps, Paninfluenza and Morbilli. Hope this helps
  23. I have just heard on the news this morning , that the dog has passed away from this virus...... Yes CC it is cause for concern. Hi, Not sure if that report is correct, the dog was asympomatic and didn't show any sign of illness but had tested to antibodies.......a DPI guy was on the news tonight saying dog will be PTS tomorrow
  24. Hi, This is also a topic in the General Discussion forum as well
  25. Hi Danielle, Yes,and thanks for the extra information. I remember seeing an Australian Story/documentry about Ben Kenean and his wife Jill. Ben was a vet who died of Hendra. They did an interview with his vet nursed who recovered from the virus......I know understand why she made the comment that all she can do is live one day at a time and that she was making sure it was to the fullest.
