  1. I know how naughty was I But when she did it I just shrugged, smiled at the judge, then called her to heel and kept walking when she was done
  2. There's no denying I play favourites Ruby is my special girl, even though she does my head in sometimes!!!!!!
  3. Wow awesome Ptolomy, another almost perfect score! You guys are on FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!! :D I'm a happy little camper Ruby fiiiiiiiiiinaaaaallllyyyyy got her first CDX pass today! We've only been trying since last July She keeps failing one exercise, a different one each time the little bugger! But this arvo she pulled it together for me! Solid on her stays (except for an itch in the down stay but she stayed put good girl) We could see the dogs through a window in the out of sight stays so I watched Ruby like a hawk, she didn't even look tempted to drop in her sit stay :D She scored 189 - but with her mummy forgetting to make sure she did another wee just before entering the ring caused us to lose 10 points when she decided that squatting for a wee on the right turn in the heelwork was a great time to go So with a full 10 points blown there, we ended up with 179, the only qualifier, so therefore first in the ring  Go Ruby!!!!!!!!!!!!! The girls each have a 1 pass towards their CDX now. I'm wondering if I should start placing bets who will get their title first
  4. I have a huuuuge soft spot for yellow labradors, I don't go gaga over the blacks (and chocs) like I do with a yellow. Just personal preference, nothing to do with being superstitious or perceiving them as aggressive. Just think yellow is pretty :p And photograph so much better
  5. oh my goshness, why did I click on this thread? Doesn't help my puppy cluckiness A new pup is a few years off for me, but I'm thinking if I get myself a little Pap then it won't count as it's so small and cuuuute and I can still get my planned pup in a few years time :p
  6. Poor Scoota ;) Hope you get the help you guys need and he is on the mend again, very soon. :D
  7. Well the tip was for bedazzled's broken scent, but you are welcome to it too So if caffy can fix a DOR in one evening ---- caffy, can I please hire you sometime? ;)
  8. Nawwww she's so cute with her first birdy I love seeing photos of the retrieving dogs! Here's another couple of photos of Ruby from the weekend.
  9. Ari, you're such a porker Glad to hear James' tail is back to waggin'!
  10. May I suggest Rexona? It won't let you down.
  11. Thanks for the descriptions, fetchindawgs. It's nice to hear them described because it starts to make more sense for me reading about it after having watched most of those runs
  12. Sorry Boxagirl have no idea as mine always have a cold bloody tail in this weather! J This is what the net says The cause of limber tail is not known although it is thought to be associated with hard workouts (especially in underconditioned dogs), heavy hunting, and swimming or bathing in water that is too cold or too warm. Some owners reported that they grab the tail as a means of correction. Tail conformation (high set or very active), gender (males more frequently affected), and nutritional factors have also been suggested as possible causes. Ongoing studies suggest that limber tail is associaed with muscle damage in the tail with dogs examined early in showing elevated muscle enzymes eg., creatine phosphokinase. Or visually, it looks like a broken tail. The tail sticks out about 10cm, then just drops to the ground.
  13. Or a spare handler when you get through to stays We need rent-a-handler!
  14. Well done xena98 and Gabby!!! WOW is all I can say, you are inspirational
  15. Thank you Saint Caffy - do I need to point out tomorrow I will only have 4 days to get a splat ??? Do I need to bring anything..................like a shotgun?????? No shotgun...just a nice, quick foldback drop. Shhh, still haven't taught Snazzy a DOR, but we like to keep him in a state of surprise Share the knowledge, please Oh wait, we need a snappy foldback drop first... I have some homework to do
  16. Just wanted to share a photo that someone took of me and Ruby this morning doing a few practice retrieves. Hope she doesn't mind me sharing the photo, I think her name is fetchitup on here Thanks for taking some photos for me I love this photo because Ruby looks so happy and pleased with herself after a successful retrieve, and I look quite happy with her, too
  17. What do you want? An instant splat?? I love the way Brookie does it, stops on the spot and just goes down. I've got a serial stepper in Ruby, and if Millie is in the right mood, she skids into her down that I swear she would end up with grass burns on her belly! 101 ways to do a DOR, as written by our dogs!
  18. Soggy debuting in Open this weekend?? Can't help... you know I have a dodgy DOR x 2... and currently I'm just happy if they actually drop
  19. As Mason2009 said, Ruby has had cold tail. Twice actually, within a month or two of each other! And hasn't had it since. I was glad I had read about it before she had it, because it's enough to make you think they have broken their tail!! So it saved me going into a panic It looks so sad, doesn't it! But I can't say it lasted for 2 weeks, a few days, less than a week at most. I didn't give Ruby any pain meds, she didn't appear to be in pain, I just let her have a break from training. She was fine I hope she doesn't get it again, the last time she got it she had been sitting in the car with her tail in the same position for a few hours. She spent most of the weekend in the car so I hope it doesn't come back! We have 3 obedience trials on the weekend
  20. Did anyone get Mason and Cider's rounds on video?
  21. There is a camp toilet and you can always take your own camp shower. Camping isn't my favourite thing, but it's an experience I am willing to endure for the enjoyment of retrieving!
  22. Have fun although I have to say camping would be my worst nightmare, especially with a farty arsed dog Pleased to say her bottom behaved There were killer moths about, though!! Ruby had her revenge by eating this massive one that fell into the back of the car where she was
  23. That's a brag in itself RS doesn't come without training! Wish I could convince Millie to wait until told to retrieve, though She's better with the dumbbell, but is a shocker for the dummies
