Can anyone remember if there are any obedience (or agility) trials with entries closing today?
-
Last year's April trial in Bunbury was cold and windy and I was wearing a jacket and leggings under my jeans for most of the day!! Yesterday was a stinker and yep I broke out the cool coats too. Will have to get the clips adjusted so they aren't so tight around the shoulders, then I can consider going into to stays with them wearing them next time :D To whoever asked if any of the dogs had a successful day. Ptolomy and Cider came first in Novice in PM trial (no surprises there!! ), Scoota 1st and Brooklyn 2nd in UD (AM trial), and Millie came 1st in Open in PM trial (huuuuge surprise there!) Ruby was so close in morning and afternoon trials in Open, so very proud of her!!

Well I only have 10 seconds of Millie's winning round, the memory card ran out! Bugger I have both Ruby's rounds, might put them up later. While they were great rounds in my eyes compared to what she has been giving me lately, it isn't a great example of an Open round to other people so was a bit wary of putting them up. On tonight's training agenda after watching videos, drops in heelwork! They are still very shoddy. She drops a whole body length in front of me because she can't help herself and takes a couple of extra steps after the command :D I gotta say, it was a bit weird, and a bit teary, handing off my special girl to someone else to take into stays! But Millie hasn't been handled by anyone else so turns out it was better for me to take her in instead of Ruby. But what a great experience to get both kids into stays I was gobsmacked! Thanks bedazzled for taking Ruby in for me! Even though the little bugger couldn't hold her sit stay (which I thought she would, her stays have come a LONG way since this time last year when she needed light entertainment ringside to keep her upright ) I'll stop by Coles and pick up a cake after work cos I don't have time to bake Or maybe more of those yummy mars bar cookies :D Well done again with Cider! You really won the lottery with getting her!! Oops, long blubbeing post, shut me up now :D

Congrats on the ADM title!!!!! Awesome stuff! Might sound weird, but I am actually much more pleased with Ruby's work yesterday over Millie's, even though it was Moo who got the pass. Ruby worked beautifully in both AM and PM trials, while Millie's ringwork was mediocre. But I am oh so happy with both kids, between them it was a great day out and worth the long drive there and back! Oh and it was sooooo hot!! So I'm doubly impressed with the kiddies They've come a long way

Colour has nothing to do with their shape. It's just a colour. I guess it might appear that way if a certain kennel breeds a certain type and they just happen to breed more of a certain colour, and that's a kennel you've looked at to give you that impression? I was surprised to see a choc guide dog around my area

I picked mine up from the bargain bin Nah in all seriousness, my choc is a rescue so more than likely BYB. Chocs are cute but I definitely prefer the yellows. I don't own a choc because I wanted a choc, I actually wanted another yellow puppy, but Millie needed a home so the rest is history

A double trial is a lot to ask of novice dogs but I just can't help myself and usually enter both I need to send entries off, I'm not currently entered in anything at the moment except for the upcoming state agility trial. I want some more CDX passes though so I better send some obedience ones off I don't you worry Beth there will definitely be someone there to video you :D When's Daisy's next trial? How is her leg going anyway?

Well done xena98 and your kids! Good girl Gabby with 2011 Open State Champion!! Happy retirement Ness! Congrats TSD on Ziggy's JDX placing!! Yuuuuuge congrats on beautiful Soggy's novice win! She surely is something special :D And I would pinch her if I ever got the chance :D And good boy Scoota nailing your cones, TWICE!! I am so, sooooo happy with my kids. Firstly, with Ruby, many of you might know what dramas I've been having with Ruby lately in getting her to pay attention in the ring, and her SFE. And asking her to trial during the day is usually met with a "pffft!" But today she worked her booty off! We got through to Distance Control with some very lovely work getting us there, and a nice blade of grass distracted her so she missed her sit Then in the afternoon trial, on such a hot day, Ruby came out and gave as much as she did for the morning trial and managed a pass in her ringwork! Millie's AM trial got off to a distracted start so I pulled her out a few seconds into it. Almost scratched her for the PM trial to focus on Ruby who was sitting on a pass, but in the end decided to go in. The round was painful. She got off to a distracted start but pulled it together, but getting her to focus in between exercises, OMG it was the hardest work I have ever had to do in a ring. SOMEHOW, we managed to pass the ringwork, and come out sitting on 189, equal score to Ruby! So I now had 2 dogs on a pass for the stays! bedazzledx2 kindly took Ruby in for me while I took Millie. Sadly Ruby dropped in her sit stay But Millie was a very good girl and nailed both her stays, her first ever OOS stays in a trial! So Millie got her very first CDX pass, and 1st place to boot!! :D So it's a very happy, and sleepy, household right now! :D

Agreed. Mine are VERY lazy. Sleep allll day, even if I am with them. They don't hassle me for anything but breakfast and dinner, and once it's had, they go back to sleep Well you did choose a working breed!!!

That was my first thought OzJen, don't know where you are meant to find a wealthy guy sorry. Mum told me I should start looking though Come to the next BnS, you are certain to get hit on by a fella... but I can't guarantee he will be wealthy, nor have any potential....

Love it, even if it is just a joke My kids are stars

I know I've asked you before but I forget... how do you tell who has posted the most in a thread, RV?

What are you trying to say?!
-
HMM I think the cost is too high :D I agree. If u had a wealthy guy rs u would need to spend time with him which would mean less time for dog stuff Says who? He'll be busy earning the millions. Plenty of "me" time available!

Just get yourself a wealthy partner ;) Do you happen to know where I could find one?

14th April :D Rubystar Maybe you need to think of it as a holiday with your kids. We have a lot of fun , usually end up clothes shopping and as I said the boys get on so well that it makes life very easy. We have a bit of a routine, share the cooking duties, although Bedazzled is a much better cook than I am - so I usually organise the dog treats. I drive, Debazzled navigates and it works really well. The difference this time will be ..........a third dog , so instead of hiring a 4WD we have had to go for a Van, we are on different flights, so hopefully everything will work out OK. Its something you should put on your todo list, its kind of addictive in a way, meeting new people, watching how others do things and if your dog does well - its the icing on the cake. If all else fails - there is always the nice cheese, the chocolate and the coldies in the fridge waiting for us when we get home Yep I do agree, and would totally do it regardless of trialling outcome if I had the mula, but I am just totally cashless for this sort of thing and can't imagine a holiday on the cards for a loooong tiiiime. Boo Besides the no cash, I have no annual leave available because I keep using it all on study leave!! Woe is me ;) I would have the dilemma of which dog to take. Millie would be better for the competing side, but Ruby is a muuuuuch better travelling companion Tash did ask if I wanted to share a room for it but I don't think I'll make it this year It definitely is on my to-do list one day, maybe try and get it to coincide with something else to make it a real holiday :D I went to a trial end of last year without competing with the dogs, just brought my chair, and drinks and nibblies! I had the BEST time!

Ours hasn't happened yet, but the thought of spending $1000 to get to one trial is a bit and puts extra pressure on to not look like we have never had a training session in our lives and know nuffing The fact that we have a lot of fun travelling together, the dogs get on well and we WILL find the closest liquor shop will mean we will enjoy the trip Whenever we have gone away in the past we have always had a great leadup, done all the distraction training which at least meant mentally you knew you couldn't have done any more - not this time!!! Are you talking about the Sydney Royal? When is that? I would love to go to the Obedience Nationals in Brissy this year, but like you said, the thought of spending $1000 for a trial and then blowing it doesn't sit well with me! I am used to blowing trials, and I still have fun because it's a nice day/evening out with friends, but I think I have convinced myself there is no use travelling for a big trial until me and my dogs are more experienced Shame really because the nationals this year would be fun!

I used a cardboard box for a Lab puppy. I think there might have been a few teeth marks, but it definitely wasn't destroyed. Just get a thick one perhaps?
