Well done guys!!! Would have liked to come down and watch, but I must be getting old, too tired to make it especially when I know I have tomorrow night to go still
-
Wow good girl Em!!

Well done Tassie and Rory!! Don't suppose you got video?
-
Way to go Chloe and Peppi!!!

Just watched these, FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! I love watching breeds you don't see many of doing sports and she looks fab!

One more video, Millie's Novice Agility debut. No pass, we fluffed the weavers (expected!), but my brag is that she stayed with me the entire course

This is Millie's Open obedience round from Friday night. On a decent pass until the Distance Control :) Few things to work on, but overall I am happy with her It was her first official Open trial (having done one NFC round 2 weeks ago).

oh and we don't have to worry about the prizes, we didn't call ourselves Lab Tested... And Failed for no reason!

That's all well and good, but for newbies like my team who have never entered it before and only have the CCC to go on for experience, it wasn't completely clear for newbies. It just read $44 per team. Doesn't worry me, it's just the fact that I made a mistake on my entries when I tried sooooooooooo hard not to, disappointed me and having asked around, it seems I am not the only newbie to have interpreted it incorrectly as well

Agility and Jumping teams - at the one and only one I entered earlier this year, it was one fee which included runs for the entire team in both agility and jumping. Assuming that is how it worked every time I sent off our teams entry for the Western Classic with one fee, to be informed that I had entered both agility and jumping but had only paid for one, so I was asked to choose which one we wanted to enter. Turns out, it is $44 to enter your team in the jumping event, and another $44 to enter your team in the agility event. The ad in the Canine News said $44 per team, so no wonder I got it wrong. Asking around, turns out I am not the only one unaware. Only those who have been entering the teams event at the Classic for donkey's years probably knew I don't think I'll be doing teams at the Classic again, the price is a bit crazy Especially since I am one half of the team of 4 running both dogs, so it gets pretty damn expensive!!

Yeah there's video. I'll get some videos up today. Looking at the video again, she actually did spot the dumbell, but wasn't convinced it was the real thing because of the purdy shiny thing out there So she went to investigate the shiny thing, realised it was nothing special, came back and got the real dumbell, and presented nicely! I don't blame her for being thrown by the shiny thing and double checking it wasn't what she had to bring back cos it was in the direct line, while the dumbell was over the far left under the ring rope! The throw was ok, but the thing bounced and rolled as it landed, grrr!!!

I think it deserved bonus points also, but the !@#$ took 4 points off!!!!

Agreed I am currently trying to find the energy to go and wash a horse so I can drop her off at the trainer. I had a pretty good night Banjo was Best of Breed Kelpie and was a very good boy in the ring Abbey got her first leg of ADM and was spot on through the whole course And poor Jenna unfortunately had no brain Not that I can complain since I had no brain in JDM with only a couple of dog in between my JDX, AD and then JDM runs I slept in til after 10 today Gosh I needed it. But it wasn't solid sleep through til 10 unfortunately, but it was nice to lie in with no pressures to get up anytime soon. Not sure if I will come down tonight or not, pretty tired! Will see how I'm feeling. Still got Monday night to go! But we're only entered in the jumping teams, not the agility, we didn't realise it was $44 EACH run ( not combined like it was for Cloverdale) so after only paying for one and being asked to choose, we chose jumping but I would have loved to give agility another go. Oh well!! P.S. Well done Banjo!! See, you didn't need my girls up at the ring last night afterall

Maybe they were serving free booze up there last night

Well done Nicole on the 2 Q's! I'll watch the videos soon Seita, congrats on OC leg #2!! She'll have it in no time!! DSO, that is awesome about passing the ringwork, bugger about the stays!! ness, bugger your girls didn't get passes tonight but it sounds like they did well!! xena98, congrats on Gabby's Open and UD wins!! Phew, did I miss anyone? How did the WA crew get on tonight? Think I saw bedazzled gain a placing in something?? I posted this in the WA thread, but thought I'd post it here too. No Q brags but my girls were good!: 4 runs at the agility trial tonight, no passes, but some lovely work Millie did me proud in Novice Agility, all she missed were her weaves (got a refusal first try, repeated, then she missed one weave near the end), but she didn't blow me off on the course which she has started doing lately and her contacts were lovely! Novice Jumping for her, got a refusal as she blew me off for a second to stop and sniff the ground ;) and one knocked bar at the end, otherwise another nice round for a dog who has had very little training go into her Ruby was one knocked bar off her JD title, but I'm not phased because that means we get to do Novice at the State agility trial and not scary Excellent just yet! For a very tired puppy dog, she then finished off with Open Jumping and nailed her weave entry and did all the weaves first go We still can't do the distance part but oh well She went round with enthusiasm and a waggy tail despite her droopy eyes all night. Cheers to my girls, you did me proud this weekend regardless of no Q's!!

I'm officially KNACKERED! I don't think I'll be getting Ruby out of bed anytime before lunch tomorrow She's had a big day! 4 runs at the agility trial tonight, no passes, but some lovely work Millie did me proud in Novice Agility, all she missed were her weaves (got a refusal first try, repeated, then she missed one weave near the end), but she didn't blow me off on the course which she has started doing lately and her contacts were lovely! Novice Jumping for her, got a refusal as she blew me off for a second to stop and sniff the ground and one knocked bar at the end, otherwise another nice round for a dog who has had very little training go into her Ruby was one knocked bar off her JD title, but I'm not phased because that means we get to do Novice at the State agility trial and not scary Excellent just yet! Millie's coat looks like that when she is having a major shed. If you can pinch at those lighter spots and pull out clumps of hair, it's just dead undercoat. Keep brushing! Once I get all Millie's out, she is back to a rich dark chocolate again. She usually has those patches around October-December.

I did that a fortnight ago, but entered NFC. Did heelwork with Ruby then left to jackpot

Congrats to all the WA obedience trialling DOLers for last night! Between us all I think we managed some very nice rounds! Special well done to mirawee and Mason2009 being their first trials and doing really well!! ;) Thanks Ptolomy And gosh I hope so. I could use a kid who makes all the training worthwhile in the end! She had some nice scores last night for her first Open trial, just a shame she bombed on the distance control (and not on the bit I thought she'd fail! Usually it would be the sit to fail on, not the down ) Millie was a good girl last night. My brag for her was there was a little hiccup with the retrieve over solid jump, and she still managed to pull it together. I threw a crappy dumbell, asked judge for rethrow, he refused sent her, she saw a shiny object straight ahead, went to it, realised it wasn't what she needed to return with, backtracked, got the dumbell, and still managed to straighten herself up on her return to come back over the jump to present in front And while I was debating with the judge for a rethrow, she sat there like a good girl, instead of prematurely leaving for the dumbell which she sometimes does Ruby put in a decent effort for her heelwork. Not at the level I know she can do, and what she was giving me a year ago, but it's slowly mending itself. I just wish I could figure out what I did to break her over the past year ;) Once we can fix it she'll be giving Millie a run for her money :p

I'm so tired! Late night, up early for retrieving training, and I have to be at agility in a couple of hours! Not sure I can squeeze in a nanna nap or else I probably won't wake up! Drove past the K9 around 12.30pm and there are already gazebos set up on the lower oval for tonight. You guys should have set yours up, what's the difference between them being set up last night and this morning? It's still reserving a spot before gates officially open, so they can't have a go at you if they are just doing the same thing. Anyway, I don't foresee me getting a park on the oval so I will just crate both girls tonight wherever the group are sitting. I don't mind crating so much for agility, but obedience I prefer to use my car. Socialising last night was great We should do it again tonight I need to get to the shops beforehand if I am to supply any decent goodies tonight, but I'm way too tired to get up and go now Is anybody planning on takeaway for dinner at the trial tonight? I'd be in if anybody else is ;)

Yep, LOOKED :D :D Congrats again mirawee and to all the other winners and grinners! I wasn't a winner, not even a pass for either of my girls, but I am still a grinner! Millie bombed on the final exercise, she didn't drop all the way down, but otherwise gave a great round Ruby managed to do her heelwork, though I still can't overcome that distraction she gets on the final straight down the ring back towards where all the people are, she loses most concentration at that point. She stayed with me though :D Then we bombed on stand for exam, she wanted to give the judge a tongue bath :D Very happy with my kids, and a pass will come in its own time!!

Rach you're more than welcome to stay at mine any of the nights you wanna come down to watch.

I think this is why at my first agility trial, I wasn't nervous. Being already in the ring before for obedience, and considerably longer than an agility round, prepares you for the 20-30 secs or whatever you're in the agility ring I was so nervous for my first obedience trial that I forgot to have a jackpot prepared outside the ring, and poor Ruby is standing there still unrewarded while I'm chatting away in my relief for it to be over I remember Ptolomy shoving handfuls of food in my hand to hurry up and get a reward into her Bad mummy I am
-
How are your nerves holding up, Mas2009 and mirawee? I remember the loo was my best friend the day of my first trial TMI? Well my double chocolate chip cookie baking attempt was an epic fail. They are more like mini cakes than biscuits But it's all I have to snack on at the trial so I'll still bring them with a sign that says consume at your own risk. Shoulda stuck to my old faithfuls and not try something new!!!! Brownies or honeycomb slice next time! Though I doubt I will have time tomorrow for agility, I'm squeezing in some retrieving training in in the morning Crazy, yep I think so!!!

I was wondering the same thing about finding out who is in our class and what number we are ... PS hoping crazy dobe is not competing - you know the one... You will get the catalogue when you get your numbers (though last year, they didn't receive the catalogues on time, then when they said to check back later, they had run out again so I paid for mine and didn't get one - should that mean my one this year is free? ) Sometimes they post the catalogues on WA Click, but it appears they do that more for agility than obedience, but it does happen PS I'm sure a few feel that way, too!
