  1. Of course he will! It's a very far off day though Maybe 2015 Which sounds around the time Ruby might get her first Open pass
  2. Even trainer/ behaviourist? Oh well there's always plan B: get filthy rich, quit the rat race & become a dog trainer! I think behaviourists with a vet degree can earn some more (think they have a special name, someone help me out!) but I wouldn't expect to retire early on a trainer's wage. If you run your own business you might earn a bit more? If you can get in with a government agency or similar that handle service dogs, I believe there is more money in that.
  3. Unfortunately, most of your average dog jobs are quite low paying.
  4. Busy? Pfft I know what busy is like lately, too!!!! P.S. Yaaay!
  5. Thanks, she did good I didn't get to see much of Mason, I was flat out last night! Speaking of automatic sits disappearing Doing fast pace in the ring with Millie coming into an autosit, and she just couldn't get it out of her head thinking I was asking her to drop instead Repeat a few times, a drop each time. I think we've been working on drops in fast pace lately So I know what I need to work on this week I've actually got a few things to work on with Millie, finishes are one of them! Talk about crooked lately (whoops, this is the WA thread, not the training one, oh well, sorry non-obedience WA folk!!)
  6. How'd your job interview go? Wanted to wish you luck last night but hardly had time to scratch my bum!
  7. Yup yup yup! When I am nervous, my dogs either lag behind me and look worried, or they are majorly distracted by everything around them. I went in nice and calm last night and Ruby didn't show her usual distracted behaviour she has been exhibiting in the ring lately. Now if I can just keep control of myself in the upcoming lot of trials, we might be in with a fighting chance with our first Open pass at some stage because her other exercises are looking good
  8. That's ok, we'll keep her here Obedience gurus, when is our next Sue H obedience seminar?
  9. Where is this through? NDTF or somewhere else?
  10. Friday 4th - Obedience Saturday 5th - Agility and Jumping Sunday 6th - Agility Games Monday 7th - Agility and Jumping Teams I am entered every night except for Sunday, but will probably come up anyway and float about between the show rings and agility like I've done the past few years Come and say hi on Friday or Sat night on the lower oval! And bring your cake :D
  11. Wouldn't go on if they paid me! And dog acts get mocked all the time from what I've seen Watching people get mocked, yeah, that's entertainment
  12. If you were told that by a vet, it's probably because they need to sell their quota Just like when the vet nurse said she'd give me an information booklet on why my 6 month old pup should still be on puppy food until she's 2 (), and handed me an Advance Puppy formula brochure. Ermmm, yeah thanks but no thanks, of course their own brochure is going to talk up their own product on why it's best!
  13. 7.30pm, but earlier if anybody can to help set up
  14. While it may work for some, it doesn't work for everyone How much did you give? Labs are a pretty big dog compared to a Cavalier. My girls get the equivalent of 5 pieces of tinned pineapple per meal. Perhaps it was not enough to be noticable? It took a couple of days to "kick in" too. Or you could just have a very determined sh12 eater! I do believe this is the case because she KNOWS she is not allowed, but still does it! By 5 pieces, you mean you give like 5 whole pineapple rings to a Cav per meal? No, not rings, five of the little pre cut wedges of a ring. Thank goodness for that! Cos I'm thinking if it takes that much to put off a Cavalier, I'd be going through a few tins a day with Labs!! I used crushed pineapple and gave a few dessert spoonfuls plus some juice for a couple of weeks and it did no good. But I might try again, I'm tired of it working for others and not me

  17. That is odd! Mason liked both of the ones at Rubystars house and he loves his one As you saw, one of mine was very loved, the other not loved at all. Glad Mason picked the unloved one to have a chew on at my place (though my foot didn't like it!! ) I think the unloved one has something to do with the fact that the ends are closed over and solid, very little of the good stuff exposed like the loved one! Which does suck a bit, that's money down the drain!
  18. Hard to say, it is just a marketing term. My dogs did well on Nutro, but it does contain wheat. I switched to Black Hawk (no wheat, articial colours or flavours) and they do much better on it (which for me equates to smalller #2's). I was going to try Black Hawk, but I think Nutro worked out cheaper ;) And it's already bloody expensive I changed to BH because it was cheaper than Nutro (which my dogs did well on) but seemed similar ingredient wise, they do well on the BH as well, the lady here sells it for $90 for 20kgs, I usually only get 10kgs at a time which is $48. I swear I saw the price quoted higher for 20kg! If it's that price then I might switch. Where do I get it again?
  19. Oh dear, then she really is a lost cause ;)
  20. As in the yakult stuff or something else? This sounds like something I might want to try..
  21. You've just described my Ruby. She knows she is not allowed to do it, so doesn't while I am watching, but the second my back is turned.... !!! She will indulge like Millie's backside is a Mr Whippy machine All efforts to change this have failed, which have included pineapple and kelp powder added to both their food, switching to raw diet, giving her a good telling off..... next I might douse Millie's droppings in tobasco She doesn't eat her own anymore, at least not from what I've seen, she now eats Millie's. Millie tried it once after watching Ruby I am guessing, but one telling off and she has never tried it again. She didn't look convinced when sampling it either, unlike Ruby who gulps it like a delicacy!! So don't fear, you are definitely not alone!! I just think some breeds are more prone to it than others! I'm sad to hear Setters do this too, as that is a future breed choice of mine ;)
  22. I need to buy the 15kg+ bags. 2 Labs and all I got Nutro on special for $20 off per bag so bought 2 bags. I might try Black Hawk at some stage. Well, my dogs will, not me!
