Does Shelley get animated about anything? Maybe to hype her up and get her interested in treats, play the 2 food game with her. Throw a bit of food, have her driving back to you and throw another piece in another direction. Or use toys if she prefers. It should get her excited and want to play/work with you. Ultimately we should be aiming for work and play to be the same thing. Heeling is just another fun game, and you really do need to sound and look like an idiot when you're training

Hard to say, it is just a marketing term. My dogs did well on Nutro, but it does contain wheat. I switched to Black Hawk (no wheat, articial colours or flavours) and they do much better on it (which for me equates to smalller #2's). I was going to try Black Hawk, but I think Nutro worked out cheaper ;) And it's already bloody expensive

I've switched to Nutro lately, in conjunction with raw meaty bones when I get my hands on some, what would Nutro be classed as? Premium or Super Premium?

I'm going to training tonight but only planning to do 7pm-8pm. Last Wednesday at work I was completely wrecked. 6.30pm for setup, 2 sessions, then 9.45pm after packup, was just too much for me to handle. I'm feeling knackered at the moment and missing out on my "night off" tomorrow night cos of the show and go, so definitely not doing 2 sessions tonight!! Wanted a quick nanna nap when I got home but knew that would make me feel worse So I'm trying to stay away! Hope your tooth feels better soon mirawee!

Are you a member of your local breed club (if there is one)? No. I'm a memeber of many clubs, just not my breed one. If you are not a member, why not? Because my local breed club doesn't hold trials that I partake in, I don't show, and to my knowledge they don't hold fun days were owners of the breed can get together like other clubs do. If they held fun days and once I start retrieving I may join, if I am accepted, as I've heard that it isn't a free for all membership - I could be wrong, though. What kinds of activities would you like to see more of in your local breed club? Obedience and agility trials would be good as other breed specific clubs hold these! I'd also like to see them hold fun days for pet owners and those of us who don't show or are not a breeder. To my outside knowledge, the Lab Club mainly caters for show people and a bit of retrieving. If they got pet owners involved, I think it would be beneficial to the breed. Is your breed club involved in Breed rescue? Not sure if they are specifically, but there are plenty of Lab rescue orgs around as unfortunately Labs are amongst the highest in need of rescue

Weren't you happy with my answer on facebook?

Yes, I'm going to have to proof "heeling with butterflies" for Little Em! Dog help us if she gets dive bombed by a bird At a trial held at our club recently a huge flock of corella's landed on the field right near the rings - that would be my dog gone!! Millie =

I've had Ruby stop and scratch at her collar midway heelwork. Mine don't wear collars at home, only when training/trialling or general outings. But Ruby is just spethal, she also stopped to play with a moth that landed on her
-
I think mine get bathed once a year, around Xmas Eve Though I did bath Ruby once before a trial and hair was flying everywhere during SFE But if you're talking from an itch point of view, totally agree, don't need them stopping midway heelwork to have a scratch (which has happened to me a few times!)

I feed breakfast as normal, but don't feed dinner until we get home from a trial. If it's a day trial, I don't feed breakfast and feed when I get home. I also don't do any training with them on the day of a trial, and very rarely do any training the day before a trial. I'll do a few reminder things like SFE's and a small bit of heelwork for attention when at the trial before we go in, but that's it. I think I need to remind Millie about what a DOR is before we go in next

A C/T doesn't necessarily mean end of exercise, though, a release word means end of exercise. If the dog does a lousy or average job where you don't want to reward, release and try again. :D at the wedding statement And whaddya mean first time ever Strauss was a star? I've seen him work his little socks off many times! He worked beautifully tonight I must agree

Now the titre testing may sway me to use Deb again for a session, as mine still need to be titred!

Well I'll get the ball rolling again. Trialling weekend is over but I am still all smiles, I am just soooooo proud of my Millie!!! Her first Open trial (NFC though) and she did beautifully (in my eyes) Trials like that make it all worthwhile Was posted in the Brags thread, but here it is again:

Not Bowen Therapist but you can't go past Deb Nook - she is (I think) $70 initially and $50 after and excellent value for money Yeah I've been to her, she's fab, but want to try this Bowen that everyone raves about
-
I remember the heat too - Ruby was on an awesome score, then proceeded to blow her Q by laying down in the sit stay <-- I literally did that, and probably a bit too loudly so the other competitors heard

Fairy nuff

Awww that's no fun! Can we play guessing games and you tell us if we're hot or cold?
-
Hi guys, I know this topic has been done to death, but can someone please recommend me a Bowen therapist for the dogs that is SOR? Could you also please let me know how much they are. Thanks

You can't do that without giving us a new video to watch

Pretty much. Walk up to the window in the building on the lower oval, get your number and catalogue, and that is it for you! (Lucky you, it's a pain getting the girls vetted even though they're both sterilised!) Walk Mason around to toilet, then put him back in his crate to rest. You don't want him worn out before he goes into the ring! I will probably go early and let him have a look around, if i dont he will be too distracted and unsettled. Will be down on wed night for the show n go. Good idea, I forget you don't train there Bring his cool coat - if it's anything like last year's WC I was wearing thongs til just about due in the ring it was so bloomin' hot!!
-
Can't help but just want to be nosey and see if you've chosen which UG yet?

Nope, just tell the people u can only attend the ceremony. ETA if it was close friends I would skip the trial and attend but if it was not such close friends then I would do the trial. Also have you RSVP-ed yet and now need to change your RSVP? If you have not RSVP-ed yet then that would be ok, however if you have it may seem a bit rude to now change it. No I'll be going. As much as I love trialling and am dog obsessed, I do recognise when a certain behaviour would be classed as extreme (ie. skipping a wedding reception to go to a trial ) Just highly bummed is all!!! Love night time trials Greg is pretty cute. Were did he come from? I saw a very similar puppy yesterday at Croydon. Interesting that you mark touching but not sitting? I thought the same. I would have thought you'd need to teach the sit and the free separately? I do like the fact that you wait a bit before rewarding for a sit so you're introducing a maintain criteria to start with, but then he was freed off without being rewarded for the sit? Just wondering what the reason is, Cosmolo? (genuine question, trying to learn how people do things ;))

Poo. Bugger. Grrrr. Does anyone think it would be rude if I didn't turn up to the reception of a wedding I'm attending that day because there is an obedience trial on that night? :) It's the last night time obedience trial until the end of the year and I'm going to have to miss it!! ;) There doesn't seem to be many/enough night time trials and I missed some already so I'm bummed! I will have only officially entered 2 night time obedience trials this "season" plus 1 NFC trial before having to go back to day time ones, that's pitiful I loathe day time trials.
