  1. The collective noun for a group of Labradors would be a "party". Not only due to their life is a party attitude, but a lot of them are kegs on legs Can't have a party without a couple of kegs apparently!!
  2. Our generator is being used to keep the fish alive as they need oxygen in their water. We have already had about 150 die Still no power at home (luckily I am at work) Anyone know how long power needs to be out before you can claim from WP? I have some horse vaccinations in the fridge which are likely no good now (and aren't cheap!) as well as food etc. I did know, but have forgotten, but what I do know is that WP are a biyatch to get it from. You do an online claim for it, then they don't pay you because they state the power wasn't out for that long! Happened to me during that last big hail storm we had, power was out for over 12 hours which means I could claim, but they haven't paid me. They didn't pay Dad either so he chased them up and they swore it wasn't out for that long, he fought with them and got the money. I just can't be arsed chasing them up, but I did lose a freezer full of my own meat and the dog's meat.
  3. I didn't get to see the news footage, bummer! The most "damage" I came home to was next door's palm tree had yet another dead branch in my yard. I am throwing them back over. Speaking of palm trees and neighbours, can anyone offer any advice on what I should do? They have this palm tree in their front yard on the fence line which overhangs my backyard, and it must be that time of year that those berries start forming because the branch bit has opened up now, exposing berries that I am sure will ripen and start falling in my yard in the coming months. Now we know Labs eat anything and these berries have caused nasty blockages in dogs (some resulting in death ), so how would I approach the subject of having them removed with neighbours I have barely spoken to? The most we've said is Hi on passing, and I'm too shy to approach them about it :D The tree is too tall to take a normal ladder to it to hack the berry pod down. I spent several hundred dollars getting a palm tree in my own yard removed before I moved in to ensure the dogs could not ingest any of the berries, and now I have the neighbours one to worry about! I HATE PALM TREES :D
  4. I missed all the storm action! The rain hit my place while I was either at work/on my way home from work. I went training as well, even though I couldn't be bothered cos I have heaps to do at home, and the power was out so we had to squish 20 mins of training in before it was too dark! Turned out ok though, should only be doing that amount anyway!
  5. Anymore rain there at the moment? Anyone going to risk it and go to training?
  6. Are you serious!? Geez one weather extreme to the next! Still dry in the city.
  7. oooh I hope there is rain! I'm in the city with no window so I can't see Bucketing down here in Kalamunda! I'm off in 5 mins so if rain is coming, it better hold out just a bit longer as I don't have a brolly
  8. You there Friday or Sat night???? I will need a detailed description, oh unless of course you will have both doggies I'm there every night. Competing each night with both dogs except Sunday, but will be dogless on Sunday when I come up to float from the showrings to the agility games. If you can't locate me based on my dogs, I'm short, long darkish hair, or just ask someone else from DOL ;) Anyway, you're on my facebook, just go and look at my photos
  9. oooh I hope there is rain! I'm in the city with no window so I can't see

  11. Does your hubby also have a hand in who gets employed at the new store? My Dad would be very keen on a Bunnings job!
  12. Either the depth of the hole isn't deep enough or the size of the plug is too big for the size of the hole. Can't be anything else My unhandy brain was thinking along the same lines I'm another Bunnings addict, after making fun of my family for being addicts in previous years. I guess when you have your own place you soon discover the joys of places like Bunnings and Ikea I remember the exact moment I knew I was growing up... I was standing and admiring a table runner at Ikea
  13. I almost hit one the last time I was there, stupid girl casually strolling through the carpark with her dog running ahead through it. What is wrong with people?!?!?!?!?! I gave her the filthiest look, but I should have wound my window down and said a few choice words to her. I hope the little dog is ok. Some people don't deserve to have the love of a dog in their home when they don't leash at appropriate times :D
  14. Wow look how happy that dog is, and wonderfully talented! Yup, inspirational
  15. My inspiration for teaching Millie to heel was Patty Ruzzo's DVD Competition Basics. After teaching Ruby with no clue what I was doing, I enjoyed every minute of Patty's DVD One of us can loan you a copy if you don't already have it My next pup, I will be doing more things stationary before I even think about heeling off (well, that's the plan, doesn't always work ). I'll leave those more experienced to tell you their ways in more detail, and I might learn something too for my next dog
  16. How about teaching her some tricks indoors? Mental stimulation can be just as much, if not more, tiring than physical stimulation But I'm in the frame of mind of bugger that too, it's too hot to do anything but laze around! (and it's even too hot for that!)
  17. Phew tell me about it....barely dropped below 27 for most of the night I had the aircon on last night til about 3.30am. Would have left it on longer but thought of my power bill It's on now and doing SFA of a job in this humidity! In my office its so friggin cold that you wouldn't be aware of the temperature outside, but as I'm working from home today, I can surely feel it!!!
  18. That is great! What a lovely friend
  19. I can understand  Big opportunity, hope it goes well
  20. Oh wow, congrats!!! Is this the first step? So if you pass this, what is the next step? Best of luck!! ;)
  21. Never heard them described like that (by anyone else) but yes probably, they are quite well known up there, because of his age I think. He has just turned 13 and they went to pre trial this term. They only had 2 weeks together down there I heard they were quite the superstar little team ;) :D
  22. Joelle, so sorry to hear of your loss  Was this the same superstar son/dog team at obedience Monday nights or do I have you confused? Hugs to you and your son ;) RIP Jakey!!!
