Keep The Light Shining For Jed - Previous 9pm Tonight
MsKatie replied to wolfgirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Candle lit here and will burn to guide you all through this - and know that you are never alone When you walk Through a storm Hold your head, up high And don't be afraid, of the dark 'Coz at the end of the storm Is a golden sky And the sweet silver song Of the lark Walk on, through the wind Walk on, through the rain Though your dreams be tossed And blown Walk on, walk on With hope, in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone Alone Walk on, walk on With hope in your hearts You'll never walk, alone -

Adelaide K9 Force Seminar - 8th May
MsKatie replied to MsKatie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
x 2 Good work ness!!! I would love to go along to another workshop with the kelpie - I think she would work really well if I could harness her drive - plus I know there are a few people who would like to have attended............... So Steve - what dates have you got free in about 6 months?? Aw shucks - it was nothing -
I have a Mazda 6 hatch that is usually OK but had to fit stuff + dog in it yesterday and really missed my old COmmodore wagon with roof racks - just a tip - bloodhounds do not really fit in the front seat of mazda 6's

Excellent cassie - Rosie and I are going to work on her issues too - have ordered some tugs from Paytons so hopefully can get her working for those And as for Earl - still trying to work out what motivates him - the idea of the hunt thing was interesting - not quite sure how to stimulate that though

Hi HollyE - welcome to the thread - next meet is June the 6th - will go and update the title now

Need Advice In Creating A Stress Free Bath Time.
MsKatie replied to iheartmorrison's topic in Puppy Chat
We used a squeaky toy and 2 people for earls first bath - one to distract him with the squeaky toy (he loved trying to grab it out of the water) and the other to actually do the washing - we use a jug to scoop water on him. He now tries to follow the kids in when they go for a bath - he likes to eat the bubbles Interesting though that that kelpie doesn't like baths at all - i think she has less grip with her little paws than he has with his big bloodhound flippers - plus she is a more nervous dog in general -

Have just ordered Rosie a medium crate from K9 Force - I thought a small would be too small for her - so I can put the two of them in there at night and really have peace -

Another great thing to come from the workshop - Earl slept all last night in his zipped up crate - without a sound except for his snoring My first ever crate trained dog - YAY!!! -

Lots to think about from todays workshop - I actaully found myself looking at Rosie (the kelpie) when she brought her toy over to me - and thinking of ways I could use that to get her working in drive - she is definitely more orientated to interactive tug toys than she is to food The dogs all behaved very well - and Earl will have his crate zipped up when he goes to bed tonight - which will mean I get a full nights sleep without worrying if he and Rosie are going to have a scuffle I am feeling more confident and will be asking Steve for advice if any questions come up It was great to meet new people too ETA - and thanks to Steve for coming - and for the fantastic leash for Earl - and a HUGE thanks to ness for organising it all -

I shall be up at the crack of dawn making salads (No room in the fridge to store them *sigh*) but won't be leaving home till 8 - can always take Earl for a walk and set up my crate if the rooms aren't open - or find out where ness lives and go round to rev up Kenzie *L* ETA - I have a whiteboard - and a couple of whiteboard markers -

I know - didn't think about this when we traded in the Commodore wagon with roof racks for a Mazda 6 hatch and then bought a bloodhound -

Well - Earl has the front seat in my car tomorrow - only way I can fit him and everything else in - hope it doesn't give him an inflated sense of his own importance -

I'm getting there early to get lunch sorted out - am leaving home at 8 Trying to sort out how to fit - 1 whiteboard - lunch for 20 people - 1 large crate - 1 large bloodhound into a Mazda 6 hatchback - Earl may well end up sitting in the front seat -
Very late notice but there is a K9 Force seminar in Adelaide on Saturday - could contact Steve and see if you can still get a ticket I have also heard good things about Mark Singer - Justice Shades is one of the Adelaide DOlers who has used him

I have a K9 soft crate so at least if Earl eats his way out of it I can tell Steve its because his product is defective - not because my dog is feral I hope so - but at least if there is lots left we have willing mouths to eat them :D -

I don't feel so bad now huski - I have bought Earl a new chewy toy and a squeaky duck so hope that will keep him busy and content in his crate - we will probably all be very over the squeaking of the duck very quickly though ETA - must remember the drool towel -

I'm worried Earl will eat his way out of his crate - or carry on while he is in there - or just generally be the stubborn, large, opinionated clown that he always is and will give both Steve and I the bloodhound equivilant of the finger when asked to do something. That and the worry that lunch will be horrendous and everyone will hate me and wish they had brought their own :D Apart from that I am quite looking forward to the day :p -
I sat in the back of the car for about half an hour with treats and the kelpie - with the car parked in the car port - to convince the hound that it was good to get in the car - and treated him when he did - he is also learning that car trips often mean good things at the end
