  1. I always use Photobucket too ... being a person who isn't overly computer savvy with the high tech stuff, it's great for me ....
  2. I would love to be able to do stuff like this ... could someone please let me know which is the best software, and an approximate cost? Thanks!!
  3. It would be good to get some Urine Off if you haven't already. We hadn't done any toilet training here for about 7 or 8 years and this stuff is brilliant. If you can get rid of the smell and direct them to where you want them to go it makes it so much easier. It's been really helpful to us.
  4. We have always desexed around 6 months and I wouldn't want to do it any earlier.
  5. The medication is fludix and vetmedin. If its available on prescription, what does that mean, I can get it from the chemist? If another vet has the medication for cheaper, can I ask the other vet to dispense? All I get is a resealable plastic bag with a printed label. Surely that doesn't cost more than $1? I have a mini foxie who has glaucoma (she has been blind since she was 5 and she's almost 9 now). She only has one eye left, and the remaining one which has had sugery needs two different eye drops every day. The vet said they could get them but it was cheaper for me to get them from the chemist so I pay $5 and they write me a script with about 6 repeats. I would definitely be finding out if you can get them from the chemist because there are some great discount chemists out there.
  6. We used to give sardines to our GSDs because it was great for their coat and general health. I think you use sardines because they are an oily fish and while I don't think it would hurt to give them tuna, I don't know that it will be as good as the sardines. Maybe if you feed them outside the smell might not be as bad ... I can't stand the smell of them either. Also ... if you are planning on giving it to a puppy, only use a small amount to start with so you don't upset their tummy. As with all puppies, any change of diet needs to be done slowly. That's been my experience anyway.
  7. That's exactly what we do too. I think it's the best way because ours can detect a tablet about 10 miles away ...
  8. Poor little dog ... they always pay the price for irresponsible owners ... ... lets hope they don't decide to get another one .... RIP little scruffy one ...
  9. We recently lost our boy called Charlie, and we have another boy called Toby. It's true that you really can't find names until you have seen them and checked out their personality. We made a list of names for our new addition, but decided on Toby as soon as we saw him. It fits him perfectly.
  10. I'm so sorry to hear about you losing Penny. It's never an easy thing to go through, and it's a piece of your heart you can never replace. She is probably running free and happy now ....
  11. That is so very sad. My heart goes out to you and I am sending you huge hugs ....
  12. Hugs from me ... :p ... We lost one of our furry family this week too, so my heart goes out to you.
  13. Thanks Bully and Sparky .. I appreciate the advice because I have never dealt with anything like this before. I will check the website you posted Bully ...
  14. Thanks, I'll have a look into that. I've never fed my dogs tinned food, and have always made them feeds with pasta, rice, vegetables and meat (red or chicken). I've used commercial dog biscuits and am looking at possibly shifting to Hills Science. I have never heard about raw diets for dogs though.
  15. Could someone please let me know if there is a diet I can give my dog to take pressure of the kidneys? What type of foods would you avoid, which ones to increase? There is so much info here so I just need a point in the right direction. The reason I ask is because we lost our heart dog this week to renal failure (he was only 10 which is young for a small dog), and I have a dog who is around 2 years older than him and wonder if a change of diet would help to save her kidneys a little, now she is getting older. I would like to take some preventative steps and even though I have always had dogs, this is a new situation for me as I have never had a dog with kidney problems. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  16. This is my first post and I don't want anyone to think I'm a know it all, but please get your little one checked. We lost one of our dogs on Tuesday to renal failure and we didn't even see it coming. He was also 10 years old, and had recently started losing weight. He'd had several teeth removed 12 months ago and didn't eat the amount of biscuits he used to, and considering he was overweight anyway a little bit of loss was a good thing. He had been to have his teeth cleaned again in July (the vet was happy with him), and she came out to vaccinate them all only a few weeks ago (again all was OK apart from a slight heart murmur), and he suddenly fell ill on Sunday night with vomiting. We took him to the vet on Monday morning and she gave him something for the vomiting and also some antibiotic, but he deteriorated on Monday night so we took him back again first thing Tuesday morning. The vet did bloods and a urine test and put him on IV fluids, and by 2-30pm he wasn't responding so we had to make the decision to have him put to sleep. He passed away while I was cuddling him, and it's one of the saddest days of my life. Our family is devastated and we are all still crying, and this is why I am begging you to have you little one looked at. If you can prevent something please do it.
