  1. I think at first she thought she could do the training herself. She is slowly getting more and more frustrated with him (loves him very much though) I have told her that in getting a trainer she will be able to enjoy him so much more. To give you an idea on the level he is on with her - he walked in the the lounge room whilst she was on the ground stretching and peed on her She has to ask him 3 times to do anything. If she says sit and he drops, she figures thats close enough. Its hard to watch. Sorry this post is turning into a vent! I dont think its the cars are frightening him I think crossing the road has become a game to him in some way. I will check out the martingale collar thanks.
  2. Hi there, Hoping someone can offer some advice. One of my mates has a 7 month old Border Collie. He is super hyperactive. (Against my advice and persistance she purchased him from a byb so no idea if he is just excitable or if he has issues) He is very focused when it comes to tricks/balls/sticks etc but he has been very hard for her to train in obedience. Basic sit/stay/drop is ok but no where near 100%. This has a lot to do with her being inconsistant and not spending the time on it. I actually find it very frustrating and have suggested she gets one on one training. Due to cost she says its not feesable right now. Anyway, he has a major problem at the traiffic lights. She will have him on the lead walking up to the road, tells him to sit. He goes crazy. He is so excited to cross the road that he starts jumping, crying, barking and creates quite a scene. When he hears the button go off to cross the road he gets seriously out of control. The very scary thing is that today he slipped out of his collar and ran across a main road. Im no expert but thought someone might be able to offer advice? (I find it very frustrating when she tells me about her problems with him when I have already given her the advice to get some proper training) Thanks
  3. I only let my dog tug on/mouth his toys. Our trainers have told us this from day 1. Our friends would come around start playfully sticking their hands in his mouth and play hand games with him but we told them it wasnt on. We have our friends kids around at our house and I would hate for him to think it was ok to have a bite on them. I think it would confuse him if it was sometimes ok and others not.
  4. Thanks We got a little black lab named Bella and she is 8 weeks old ...Im so in love already Thanks for all your advice I really am grateful OH thats so unfair NO PHOTOs for us to drool over! Lol Congratulations firstimer I just spied the little muffin in here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=171634&hl= very cute indeed!
  5. No one is expecting you to allow the dog to sleep on your bed so cut the dramatics My dogs don't sleep on the bed, in fact they're probably the only Staffords in the world that aren't even allowed to sit on the sofa. and I thought mine was the only one! No stafford on the couch in this house. No beds either. Mind you it usually means that we are on the floor with him I cant imagine having him outside. He is my shadow that follows me everywhere. Im no expert but all the staffords I have met just want to be near their family.

  13. Oh man I already want to pull my hair out! Can I ask if there is something glaringly obvious im doing wrong?! Firstly my fruit bowl looks like its in a dark room and someone is shining a very bright torch onto it!!! Heres what im doing - Completely dark room Tripod with camera in focus on manual setting. ISO - 400 SS - 5 secs I turn the light off and shine my torch on the fruit. Camera set on timer. Press shutter whilst shining torch on fruit. I feel like the light from the torch takes up the whole bowl of fruit so there is no need to 'paint' The result is terrible! Its super bright. What am I missing?? Can someone help the newbie??!!
