  1. The youngest is 6. Unfortunately I dont have enough time in the mornings thats why I take them at night and at this time thats all the time I can give them during the week. For me to give them at least half hour in mornings I would have to be getting up at 4.30am and I aint getting up that early. The weekends are different they get a lot of exercise.
  2. Peibe Can I ask how much Ivermectin is being used and how often? Mel
  3. hi dogmad I have 3 dogs and they all get a 15 minute walk after work on their own for 3 or 4 days a week and then they go for a big run on the weekends. during the day, at the moment, my mum is home most part of the day and is usually outside with them, so I would say they most likely are not bored. but hey I could be wrong. i have checked out the thread PRS advised me and have found some good info.
  4. Do a search on this forum for the word 'caprophagia' and you will uncover many threads with very interesting information and advice. Thanks for that.
  5. Im not 100% sure if its her own poo but am thinking it is. I too think that she is doing it as she is lacking in something in her normal food. Good I can let my parents know that its not just my dog. Thanks guys
  6. Why the hell would my dog eat dog poo? and quite often. My parents have seen her eating it at least once a week. Can anyone please explain. thanks Mel
  7. 4Paws could you please post a link to the site you ordered them from. I too am finding this very expensive for 3 dogs around $45 - $50 every 3 weeks Thanks Mel
  8. Sorry I havent replied earlier. my mum uses Ivermectin pouron (not injections) and coats the infected area (not whole body) with canola oil (must be a vegetable oil) which helps suffocates the eggs. She also doubles the dose. She has not lost a wombat ever in the 20 years from overdosing. I have personally seen the improvements and I am talking about severe cases with thick crusts built up on their bodies bleeding and pussy and their eyes closing up. Improvements before 2 weeks. Foxes usually get it from wombats (although foxes originally gave it to wombats). Do you have wombats in your area?
  9. Hi this is a good story... Jeep is still with you Is he is usual self now, does he seem healthy and happy? This is what I want for my girl, I want quality. I have had xrays done - nothing showing up good luck with Jeep hope he continues to do well Yes jeep is still with me and he is still his usual self, healthy and happy as well...........which is good and bad :D no its never bad.
  10. My mum deals a lot with sarcoptic mange on her wombats. At the moment I am at work but I can post some info this evening. Mel
  11. Glad to hear that she has a diagnosis and you can work on her treatment from here. I did a little reasearch and it sounds like it can be eventually controlled with medication. Good luck. Mel
  12. My boy Jeep was diagnosed with this a few months ago. The lump was on his sheath and I had it removed, but I wanted to make sure that this lump was a primary and not a secondary, so I had his chest x-rayd to see if there was anything on his heart and also had an ultrasound done to check his spleen area. These came back clear and it looks as though I had caught it early. They can metastisize (reoccur) so I do have to keep an eye on him. What Luciens Mum posted pretty much sums it up. Dont panic too much yet (I know its hard), but get in and get the x-rays and ultrasounds done and go from there. Once you know either way you can work out what you want to do. Good luck and hopefully they caught it early. Mel
  13. I remembered that my mum had a wombat come in who had symptons of the head leaning to one side and everytime he walked he would only walk around in circles and only one way. He was later found to have a perforated eardrum which affected his equilibrium (sp?) He hasnt had a knock to the side of the head or anything??? Mel
  14. Sorry I havent even heard of it, but would be interested to hear from any others that have experience with this. I wish you all the best with it.
  15. Thanx staffyluv, I have been reading your thread on Ollie in the last couple of days. He is definately one brave dog and I wish him all the best. Do you have any links on Holistics that you could recommed to me for reading, as I would like to start treating him this way. The type of sarcoma he has is a malignant skin cancer (phase 1) which starts out on the surface of the skin. I am just worried that it could be a secondary tumour so he is now booked in for x-ray on his chest to see if it has affected his heart/chest area, then he will be going for an ultrasound after that to check his spleen area. This type of cancer mainly affects the heart and spleen. Occurs mainly in male dogs with light pigmentation/hair and exposure to UV light. The vet also said that in most cases the disease can matastise so I have to check him quite regularly for any lumps or unusual skin spots. I cant put sunscreen on him as he just licks it off and I dont know what else to put on him.
  16. Was he holistically treated for the sarcoma or other issues as well. Did you get him checked for any other sarcoma's as my vet said its possible that it could be a secondary lump (the one we cut out) - he doesnt believe so but there is that possibility that there is another one and I would like to find out if there is.
  17. Last tuesday Jeep went to the vet to get a lump cut out and today the vet rang to tell me that it is a Cutaneous Hemangiosarcoma. It looks like they got it all and I am now just researching a bit about it. He is going back on saturday to get stitches out and the vet is going to talk to me a bit more about it but I just want to hear from anyone that has/had a dog with this and how they are going, like diet, treatment ect Much appreciated. Mel
  18. The trusty water pistol hey. Thinks me have to get another one of these and give it a try.
  19. I didnt take Kira for a whiner. Isnt it bloody annoying.
  20. Jeep has always been a bit of a whiny dog, but over the past month it is driving me nuts. For example on the weekends I will take them down for a swim in the lagoon and from the minute he gets into the car until he gets home he does not stop whining and its a really high pitched long whine, even when he is swimming he is still whining, its driving me insane and I dont know how to stop it. I do know that he loves to go out whether it be for a walk or swim or a drive in the car and he gets really excited. I am thinking this is an excitement thing, but not sure. Any ideas or has anyone else got a dog that does the same, need to do something before I strangle him. Mel
  21. I know exactly how you feel. Me and OH did that with that with our four until I couldnt stand it any longer. It became so unpleasant. Up until recently I would take one dog OH another and walk around the block in different directions and meet up and by that time it wasnt so bad. I was also using a prong on maxi (actually walked him on his own for quite a few months while training with the prong) and then gradually introduced lara who's not a puller. After a few weeks of this I could actually walk lara and maxi together from start to go which was really good. Good luck Mel
  22. I had my prong come off twice but had the martingale collar on as backup. It only seemed to come off when there was extreme pressure placed on it....maxi being stubborn as usual.
