  1. These people are friends of friends and at that stage that the news went to print the cause of the fire was unknown. The paper have been blasted about reporting something that has not yet been established. But they dont care. It was lucky the man was still awake. so glad the kitty made it. When we were told what happened it brought a tear to my eye. Good on the firies and ambos for helping to save the kitty
  2. Ams have no weight restriction, BUT they do have an ideal height. And height and weight must be in proportion. If the breeders have the interest of the breed at heart then I hope they are breeding to the standard. Not always the case of course.
  3. - had to yell out to Mr.Poodlemum & tell him this - we both had a good laugh - thanks! ;)
  4. Wow where are the 24" Am staffs? 5 inches above standard height for a male. Maybe one will turn up on sunday
  5. I have only seen two blow flies so far. Both buzzed in when I left the screen door open.
  6. Actually I have always wondered how long it is before a fly dies after they have been eaten, if they havent been crunched first. Do they go down buzzing and die as soon as they hit the stomach acid? Or do they kick around for awhile? hhhmmm.
  7. Cant help on the dogs health but I do know it is harmful to the flies. Its kind of like.... death
  8. In my opinion food aggression can be brought about by a number of circumstances. In my opinion the least of which is inherited. But other people could have other stories to tell.
  9. Very small Bulldogs and a Terrier breed of sorts There aint no pug in there well not unless a lacemaker snuck one in
  10. You know what I wish.....?? I wish people wouldnt let their children or themselves for that matter approach a strangers dog like that. What would you of done if the dog jumped off and bolted across the car park? What would you of done if the dog displayed aggression at any stage and latched on to your daughter? Why is it that we try and try to educate people on not touching other peoples dogs. I wish people wouldnt leave their dogs on the back of utes like that. Sorry rant over.
  11. The entry form or the entry fee? If the latter, it's sensible. sorry should be entry fee
  12. Morgan and the tringle Ok so it is not quite a zoomie pic as such
  13. I dont send away for my numbers return unless of course it is an ag show where you get passes and need to send away. I just pick my numbers up on the day. I certainly miss the NZ system where you get your numbers returned to you AND a reporting sheet which shows the numbers in the breeds for the whole show. The price of the envelope and postage is built in to the price of the entry form. Sending out a reporting sheet is a compulsory requirement for the Clubs. Exhibitors can also request (within reason) if they could have a certain breed on first or last, depending on there being a specialty show on at the same time or they may be showing in two groups.
  14. YES, I can picture these beautiful photos in a nice white frame up on a wall. Actually I can too ;) Or maybe black n white on a canvas? Thanks I asked hubby to take the photos this morning and he said yes, the only problem was that sport was on this avo and I had to drag him away from the superbike racing on tv.

  18. We have owned quite a few top winning Bulldogs back in NZ. Our main top winning dog we never made up to a champion until he was 3 years old. Before he turned 3 he had not matured and although we showed him often I would never expect people to pull their dogs out just so we could make his title up. After we titled him AND he matured he was one of the most titled Bulldogs in NZ. While the NZ Grand Ch system is hard to obtain, it is also a very political system and very unfair. For a dog like ours who was a true example of a beautiful sound dog who amassed over 100 challenges(not points, just challenges) and 3 Specialty Best in Shows but because he had not obtained 3 All Breeds Best in Shows he could not be awarded a Gr Ch status. Have we ever pulled our dogs out of the ring just to let someone else win.... No. Given that the judge on the day is judging the dog and not the handler, a dog must win on its merits as being a great example of its breed.
  19. If the dogs in question were seriously aggressive ST the puppy would not be alive right now. That has already been stated. I hate the fact that there are off leash areas. No dog alive today has 100% recall, 100% of the time. Clearly these dogs were not under control and there is no excuse for their nor their owner/handlers behaviour. And yes there are always lessons to be learnt. Some the hard way.
  20. Sorry this has happened to your puppy. There is no excuse for any dog to do this. It is a pity that the photographer that was with you didnt take photos of the dogs after you rescued your puppy so at least you had some proof as to the dogs that did this. Just a question. Firstly you said they were Bullmastiffs Then you said they were Bullmastiff crosses. Which do you think they were?
  21. Big statement. Prove it. Souff Well I can to a point I have done a huge pedigree research on one of our Bulldog bitches and alot of her ancestory after the first world war and before and after the second world war were inbred dogs and also very very closely linebred. Because of the wars there was not alot of stock to continue on with hence the very close breeding programmes they worked with. Granted it is only an example of one breed. But the lines behind the pedigrees of our bitch would appear in many pedigrees of todays/yesterdays dogs eta what I meant is that the early caretakers of the Bulldog certainly did inbreed. Whether this has caused health issues now is not founded.
