  1. yes when my pup was teething i was struggling to get him to eat, once i realised he was actually teething i started to soak his biscuits in water before feeding so they were soggy, once i started doing that he had all his dinner no problem
  2. dude i have no idea im in the same predicament, my dog was desexed at 4 months also and he cocks on everything (not inside either) he is our only dog. It has gotten to be quite embarrassing as whenever i take him to someone elses house he goes around cocking on everything outside even their furniture :/
  3. hi im looking to walk daily in the arvos too, with my koolie x, if anyone lives in the rochedale area maybe we could walk together...its more fun when im not alone :/ but ill try to do it anyways
  4. i do agree its the owner not the dog, but from my experience the pple who visit dog parks are the people who dont walk their dogs and just let them go crazy for 'exercise" and think the dog is just being "playful"
  5. looks exactly like my boys bff charlie the kelpie beautiful little thing, someone with no clue about working breeds gave up on this one so sad
  6. do you feed him a bowl of dog food for dinner every night? just an idea...dont. instead of feeding him dinner take the amount of biscuits he would normally get and use them as "training treats" everytime he looks at you or responds just a click (if you have a clicker) and he gets a biscuit. do not give him any other treats..that is all he gets. it might take a few days of ignoring you, but he will eat when he is hungry, he will not starve himself, and will soon learn to eat he has to obey.
  7. i could be interested, i live in brisbane with my coolie x
  8. all i have to say is do you do time outs? do you have a crate or a room he normally goes in? In you're situation soon as the dog put his mouth on me i would say "to bad" or any word of you're choosing and give him a time out, only has to be a coouple of minutes long. then if he reaffends when he comes out he goes in for longer, same with the barking straight into a time out. Saves you having to yell over him, or discipline any other way, its a calm punishment and the pup will soon learn he doesnt want to be doing that. i would also teach him leave it and try saying leave it initially then if he doesnt respond comes the "to bad" and his time out, he'll soon learn the pattern
  9. yes that sounds a scary experience...I have a medium sized dog, but i still worry when he plays with the bigger GSD's and mastifs etc. What i do when he plays is basically follow him around, soon as the other dog looks like its excitement is too high (high excitement leads to aggression) i pull the other dog off, if the other dog keeps coming back i do body blocks..as in I get between the other dog and mine. by this time normally the dog loses interest or the owner calls them off...else we leave the park. Sounds like you're situation was scary enough, but if the dog wasnt in attack mode as it approached i think I would have been more inclined to grab its collar and drag it bak to the owner, than to pick mine up. Just some ideas for if you ever find yourself in another situation like that...hope you dont though Hope you and you're little friend dont lose any confidence next time you go to play. :D
