  1. He did not have the runs this morning or last night but I did realise this morning that his poo was green. He has had his surgery today though. When I asked the vet about the runs that he had she said that if it only lasted the night it would of been something he ate. I will mention to them when I pick him up that his poo was green. I didn't mention that this morning. Thanks Guys.
  2. I have been at work so I will be taking a look at him this afternoon. The vet advised me to not do the chicken and rice tonight and keep him on the dry food and see how he is in the morning. If he isn't better this afternoon I will ring them again. Its not constant runs but yeah I will keep a close eye on him thanks. Chicken and rice I might give him tomorrow night. But He will still go to the vet if he has the runs for a check up! Poor little fella.
  3. I just spoke to my vet and they recommended just keeping him on the dry food tonight since he is getting desexed tomorrow. So I am hoping he will not have the runs so he can be desexed. I am considering changing his diet.
  4. Thanks LC, So just normal cooked chicken?
  5. Yes I bath Jet before going to the vet. He is going to get desex tomorrow so I bathed him on sunday. I do not give Jet a flea treatment before the groomers he just gets his monthly one when needed.
  6. Last night was the second night I had been up most the night with Jet having the runs. Before last night it was on Saturday night. I am now really curious what in his diet would be causing this as it has never happened before. He sleeps in his crate so all I hear is him whinging and scratching so I take him on lead outside to do his business and he tries several times. To start off with his poo's were brown half firm and half runny and then eventually they turned out green. I feed him a chicken neck in the morning, yesterday I gave him a bone to chew on and he loves them. In the evenings I feed him Pro Plan puppy. I am assuming it must be the meat. So today I am only giving him Pro Plan and see if he improves. Am I doing something wrong with his diet?
  7. There was another thread about this somewhere but normal sunscreen has too many chemicals or something for a dogs skin and you can get special dog sunscreen from most pet supply stores or vets.
  8. Jet is on PRO PLAN puppy. He has never had a problem. ETA: I find that availability for it is really good too. As well as price wise.
  9. ...Jet 1. Jet was a Pet Shop Puppy - Before I knew anything about puppy mills or became a member of DOL (which I am now addicted too!) ... I layed eyes on Jet. I'd wanted a puppy for a while but never pursuded it. I knew he was the one for me. After alot of convincing of my father (I was living with my parents at the time) he finally caved in. As he said, I had a look in my eye. Love at first sight. No Regrets. 2. A Mummy's Boy - He gets excited every time I come home. He loves his cuddles & won't have a bar of OH if I am there. I guess he knows his Mummy will always be the sucker for him. He gets his own way alot I am trying to be tougher but those puppy eyes! Whenever I leave him in one side of the house with OH and I go somewhere he isn't allowed, he will cry his little heart out. He always gets up and follows me everywhere.. and I mean EVERYWHERE. If I move to the other side of the room so will he! 3. Injured leg - He is still only young but after only having him for a short period of time, he hurt his leg. The first opinion was that he had done something major and would be in pain for the rest of his life according to them. My heart broke. For the next 24 hours I was devasted and couldn't stop crying. The second opinion was that it was only a muscle now he is the strongest little fella after it healed himself. 4. Tennis Balls - He loves his tennis balls. Everytime I go outside he runs to get his tennis ball runs back to me then runs out the back. Indicating he wants to play! 5. Ladies Man - for the human and dog kind. He attracts them! One visit to the vet and he had all the vet nurses making a fuss over him. 6. Beach & Water - He loves the beach, and water. He will go swimming, sometimes a bit too far out! Chases the hose! I am glad I have a water baby. 7. Serial Chewer - When he was a bit younger he chewed.... phone cable, nearlly all my shoes, bug zapper cord, stereo cord... and alot more. 8. Mix of Everything - We were told by the Pet Shop he was a Fox Terrier Cross... Several people comment that he has Corgi or/and Border Collie in him. I have no idea what to say when people ask for the breed. Obviously he is larger than the normal Fox Terrier! What do you's think? 9. Food Driven - He will do anything to get food. Teaching him the "leave it" command has been an issue Its a plus when training in every other way. Several times we have caught him with his head in the bin! 10. Sleeping - He tends to sleep in weird positions Butter could melt in his mouth.
  10. Some of you have gorgeous photos... Jet has a few things like some of the others my turn
  11. I will not forget He is such a joyful thing and smart so hopefully he will learn in no time.
  12. Okay thanks You make it sound alot eaiser.
  13. Ok thanks for the advice. I will give it a go tonight. I won't forget to treat myself with chocolate Should I have treats for him too?
  14. He is a fox terrier cross. Alot of people think it is either collie or corgi or maybe both that he is crossed with. He already had a shell pool yet he was still getting hot. He doesn't even physically nip me and It seems like he is not actually going to. I think he uses it as a warning. I did not know that shaving him would be a bad thing. It isn't that short that he will get sunburnt. I would prefer not to use a muzzle. I do give him a brush as often as I can. I will try to do it more often and also to touch his feet and show him the clippers etc. I will have a look into that kikopup too thanks. Picture of his cut below.
  15. Oh ok. No this is the only time he tries to nip me.
  16. It wasn't straight after when we came home though and I tried again last night I will try to gradually introduce the clippers thanks. With the "feet" command. Do you just pull his feet onto the object and give him food? I was trying to teach him to shake and I had treats he didn't care for the treats he was trying to nip me again!
  17. So I took Jet to the groomers last week. The heat over the past few weeks had him struggling so I though this would make him a bit cooler having a bit of a shave and it is making him better. When we first walked in he was hiding behind me and acting quiet scared. I assumed it was because he thought it was the vet. I left for about two hours and returned and they were having trouble keeping him still so I went to hold him while he was being shaved. He was very afraid and kept attempting to get away. He has had a bad experience in the past at a vet who I refuse to use now after finding another vet who didn't make Jet agressive towards them. This first vet gave him his first vaccinations and one time Jet bleed. The lady at the groomers suggested to get out the clippers at home and just show him and turn on the vibration and place the vibration on his back while rewarding him. Is this the right method to do? Is there anything else I can do? Also when she went to clip his nails he would attempt to nip her. I again think this is from a situation in the past where Jet had injured his leg? I went home and started touching his feet and massaging them as I heard this helps, he tried to nip me! This is the only time he has ever tried that. So I sat down and watched Cesar Millian on Foxtel the other day. He was with a girl whose dog would bite her when the dog was being brushed. He solved it by when the dog was agressive he would do a claw like hand on the side of her and would say "uh uh". Should I used this method when he tried to nip? Any help would be appreciated.
  18. Cory seems to breathe alot faster and harder when he's sleeping/relaxing too! Will watch this thread with interest. I usually release him from the crate if it's really loud, to let him get a drink, and he does drink alot when let out, so assumed he was thirsty?? Jet does the same. He will then drink a heap of water.
  19. Thats a great photo, i think the bins add a little extra!
  20. To stop the barking at home, my trainer recommended getting either a spray bottle or a water gun filled with water and squirt them whenever they bark.
  21. My pup is now 9 months and still has the odd accident. It is hardly ever but still happens. You just need to be persistant.
  22. Great Photos! They do grow up fast hey. She is so adorable! I also have that red foot print Tag for Jet, off ebay?
  23. I am not looking at starting until in the new year and Jet is 12 months at the end of January
  24. I am thinking in the new year of either doing a more advanced level or obedience or even start off with agility for Jet. I just have a few questions. Jet is nearlly 9 months. He has done puppy preschool and he is now onto his first course of obedience. He is doing very well and I am very impressed by his improvement. I am enjoying taking him too every week. Is there an issue since Jet is a cross bread not a purebreed? Since he is a small dog is that an issue for agility? My current obedience class I don't think offers much more than the current level of obedience, so does anyone have any reccommendations of somewhere I could take him? I am on the southside of Brisbane, Logan area. Sorry I don't know much information about it at all. Thanks.
  25. The above I agree completely with. Just be careful with what dogs you pup may socialise with until she is fully vaccinated.
