  1. I always camp so then Adam and I can both drink... I can volunteer Adam to carry the crates around! He's pretty useful for that! ;) The trick is you have to get him carting stuff around before be buggers off to golf! ;) If you change your mind and want to bring 2 shoot me an email/message and I will help you out! I will let you know! I'll have a think about it and a chat to the ex. If I'm thinking of showing Atlas do I need to put his name on the membership form for DQ or do I just put the dogs I specifically own on that form and nominate the dogs I'm showing on show entry forms?
  2. Another question, on the show dates table what do the letters after the club names mean? KC I take to be Kennel Club but what's AG? I can't seem to find a legend for any of it. Not exactly a new-member friendly website.
  3. My problem with bringing them both is that he can be a little hard to handle (not aggression wise, though he is a bit funny with other large male entire dogs, just excitement wise) and her lead training's not perfect so I think it would be quite stressful to have them both at my very first show! Plus having to lug around 2 steel crates .... Where do people normally stay? Do you guys just camp? CR*P I'm gonna need to get a show suit!
  4. Ohhhh sh*t... maybe I should bring Atlas and show him? The ex is fine with it... Nah I'll just show 1 dog while I'm getting used to it. I'd love to meet you! I will get your number from Craig actually I must catch up with him for a beer soon ;) TeamSnag I have a big music event on that weekend I would have loved to come! But I've arranged 8 bands to play at my local pub so I need to go and kick their butts on and off the stage, damn punks! :D I will definitely come to the next Bundy one though that's a perfectly reasonable driving distance especially if the shows start in the arvo.
  5. Kind of like the lady with her two young girls in my puppy preschool class who, to get rid of the kids for abit so we could all HEAR what was being said by the instructor, told her daughters to 'go and pat those dogs that are tied up over there because they look a bit sad'. The instructor nearly went into conniptions but it's a good thing that she was there and was able to be educated I suppose. I think it's great to teach kids not only how to approach dogs that they are allowed to approach, but when NOT to approach as well
  6. No worries, we usually set up with the Irvings (I believe you know them) OHHhhhh that is PERFECT! Love the Irvings Had the best chat with Mr Irving last Tuesday night. That is really great thanks so much!
  7. Ooh when's yours? I need to do about 2000km in the next 2 months so I'm open to any driving offer
  8. Oh wow that is awesome Erin! I might ring them, the Mackay entry closes on Friday. Pointers Rule: If I get my reg. in time, is there any chance you have room for Luuka and I in your gazebo? If not it's totally fine I can find a spot somewhere, I've never shown before only been to 1 show as an observer.
  9. Ahhhh I see, so the single membership is what I pay every year? Thanks so much ML.
  10. Okay so I'm finally joining up, I want to know - exactly what do I have to pay for? The schedule of fees says "joining fee" and "single" - do I have to pay both those? I don't understand :D I tried to call them but it just rang out. Do I just then nominate a dog on the form? She is already registered with them so I don't have to pay for her registration do I? Sorry, these are probably the silliest questions but I am really confused I would also like to go to the Mackay show on the 13th of March and the Sunshine Coast show on the 27th, any DOLers available to take me under their wings? I don't think my membership will go through in time though especially for the Mackay one so maybe I'll just spectate.
  11. Me too, but mine is only nearly 4 months old A lady at obedience training last night talked me into tracking and said that her Norwegian Elkhound did his first trial at 6 months! That's amazing. So we're going to give it a go. Do I need to buy her a harness?
  12. I know mine are really boring but it's so hard to capture her doing crazy things because I'm always laughing too hard and my iPhone doesn't handle the shakiness!
  13. It is the worst website in the history of time. I too have phoned about it and they told me the 15th of January as well. So I hope it is up this week!
  14. It was sweet until I had to leave him with my ex a couple of weeks ago, now it's sad. But I am super grateful for a "good" breakup with no hard feelings so I still get to go get my BT fix
  15. That's how I feel about Atlas But I think it's because he has always been such an affectionate, snuggly bugger and Luuka is more independent and not as cuddly, she has things to do don't you know!

    Rocco

Serena :D I wish all of us who feel your pain and are touched by your tribute could take just a little bit of what you must be feeling away from you. All my thoughts and love and strength are with you RIP Big gorgeous handsome boy, go play free of pain and weakness forever
  17. Sounds lke maybe the bolded part was what made them charge him, if he'd just been like "shorry offishers" and trundled off they prob wouldn't have given a crap. Just my opinion though I wasn't there.
  18. So dumb. Even though I've wanted to squeeze the beautiful Beagles that sniff luggage at airports I don't even make eye contact with them they're there to do a frickin' job.
  19. Well, I just had some really cool news I phoned the lady who coordinates the dog obedience club to see if PP would be cancelled tonight due to the torrential rain we're having and she said she'd been trying so hard to find my number because she wanted to tell me how much they loved my letter. It was brought up as an agenda item at a meeting recently and she said some members got quite emotional while reading it. I was quite surprised about that but she said that they were actually really disappointed in the original article in the paper, they were misquoted, misrepresented and the photo was really disappointing as the paper had come and taken HEAPS of photos of the dogs doing agility, obedience, being patted and loved and everyone happy but all the paper used on the article was the vice-president looking serious with her dog sitting next to her on the ground. They said that they felt my letter corrected the parts of the article they were unhappy with. So stoked, really has made my day!
  20. Yeah you really need to get a life, imagine wanting someone's "treasured" pet to be safe, and imagine not wanting some poor person to have hitting a dog on their conscience, imagine wanting to protect it from dogs who may not appreciate it being up in their faces. Gosh! (obviously this is sarcasm!)
  21. Took the words right out of my mouth. I totally understand that dogs can be frightened by fireworks and will pretty much do anything to escape, it's not entirely the police's fault and they did spend over an hour trying to catch him unsuccessfully. :D RIP Robby
  22. Here's mine, we've had a lot of rain and she'd been out in it having the time of her life
  23. This boy, who is Luuka's father is the dog that really made me fall in love with the look of lappies: Gr. Ch. Watersedge Alias Aleksi Part of the reason I choose Miss Luuka over the other equally lovely bitch was because her breeder said she would probably turn out looking more like him than the other bitch.
  24. Oh my god I'm so sad to hear this, Rocco1 (the human) was going to take some pics of Atlas and I late last year and though it never eventuated I just loved looking through all the photos of beautiful Rocco I can't believe this, my thoughts are with Rocco's family, furred and skin
  25. I am really sorry to hear this, I'm going through a breakup at the moment as well and although leaving my beautiful boy will be intensely heartbreaking I am glad that my partner and I won't be fighting over him. Ex bought him, pays his vet bills, goes halfsies with the food (I have a puppy too), is registered in ex's name and chipped as well so there's no argument - I wouldn't dream of it - but my ex will give him a great, stable home so I have no qualms about that either. I'm afraid I'm no help at all except to agree with everyone saying that it has to be about the best interests of the dog - do you think your ex will be able to see that logically or is he too upset right now?
