what never ceases to amaze me is how people never attribute their dog's poor behaviour to anything they're responsible for...I have overheard so many conversations where people comment that their dogs are naughty/badly behaved/bark a good deal etc..but never do they suggest that they might be responsible...our two dogs hardly ever misbehave because we spend the time with them and they're too bloody tired to play up!

my two don't just maim their soft toys..they murder them with savage intent..which isn't bad for a pom and a swf!

the exercise he has with you..with/without a lead is a lot more than most people give their dogs..you, like most DOLers, are a credit to dog ownership.

we've decided that when our two go, we won't replace them..they are to us, irreplaceable....that should tie in (hopefully) with imminent retirement. My sister had always had dogs, loves dogs and moves on when her dogs do..but we see our two as very unique and beings we can't replace...

apparently I'm the owner of one of the most ruthless dog breeds known..yes, the fear inspiring Maltese. Fact apparently. Seriously, I can't really take to large dogs, preferring little numbers. I think secretively I'm slightly scared of the larger breeds. That said, I believe that all dogs should be given a chance..they are what they are, often because of how man had made them.

What annoys me is that my two refuse to get a card for their 'dad'..their excuse, as dogs they don't work. How lame is that?? Sorry - Afternoon madness..

the worst thing is when you have three lots of snoring..OH and the two dogs...! But I wouldn't miss that sound for anything because it signals that all is right with my world...

there are no pack issues on our bed as long as OH and I sleep in our appropriate positions...

for some inexplicable reason, my little girl is terrified of 'beards' and more appropriately, men with beards. Doesn't help that my dear, aged dad has a full blown beard!

well that's reassuring...I do know the owner isn't home when the dog howls and that's why I've associated it with unhappiness - but if he's thinking of bag pipes, well I can certainly relate to that! I guess my main problem is I hate seeing dogs getting ignored and I over sympathise...

I’m just wondering if I’m an over-reactor. We have a new dog in the locale, who howls (not barks) into the dark hours...last night until after 10pm. Every time I hear that ‘crying’ it cuts me up and I get so angry at the owners. Do any other DOLers feel as passionately as I do, or am I a bit of a girly sook?

We've probably, (foolishly in hindsight), made our dogs very much one owner dogs - and whilst my dear parents and sister said they would take them, I would have them euthanised if we weren't around...that probably sounds selfish and they'd probably manage, but I'd hate to think of their lives being so disrupted...and I guess my ego wouldn't allow me to think they'd be happy with anyone else...yep, I'm probably dreaming and they'd be fine elsewhere...fingers crossed it won't happen!

Unfortunately, we didn't pick our two...they picked us and let us take them home and love and cherish them forever..which we are now committed to doing.

my little girl has been known to tremble if I don't give her total attention..I or OH have never raised a finger to her (nor would we ever), but she sits by my chair of an evening I have to constantly stroke her...if I stop she nudges my hand....so yep, sookiest of females!

my best to you and also to reiterate, I tell my little uns and others in my life often that I love them..because you literally never know...

whenever I cry my little boy comes and sits on my lap...my little girl, who is supposedly my heart dog, seemingly couldn't care less..especially when's she's eating a nice bone!

That's the most terrible case of animal cruelty I've probably ever heard...shameful!@!@@@@@

Just wondering if your love of dogs runs to a love of all animals? I am in awe of all animals, preferring them to a lot of humans...and I've always assumed that to be a dog lover is to be an animal lover...but is that an assumption - am I wrong? If so, what animals don't you like..?
