When we first got Renae (from a registered breeder), she still had a post puppies tummy, saggy boobies, tattered ears and tail from puppies chewing on them. We just fed her normally and gave her some light exercise (in the beginning). She came good and was able to fit back into her bikini eventually
She's the kind of bitch we love to hate  8 yrs on and I am still not back in my bikini
I never had kids, and ive never been in good shape regardless , getting worse as im getting older !
getting back in shape implies that one was in shape to begin with...if only!

A bit belated, but the best of birthday wishes for Mr Stan....seems to be enjoying himself!

I find this story distasteful on so many levels....

if OH or I go (perish the thought just yet)...then our two 'go' as well..it's stipulated in our Will.

beautifully put!
I always find it slightly sad that I have to continually justify what I feel for my two..it's unconditional love..can't imagine anything much stronger than what I feel when I think of them - but I know most people don't understand...your poem shows you do!

best of birthday wishes and the happiest of outcomes...well saved!

no link included..might help those who may have used them...

worry no more..our little maltese cross would poo tiny bits in, on average, six - eight locations in any one sitting. I think he hates being near his own poo so the minute he offloads a bit he moves away. Glad ours isn't the only one!

can I just ask...ball park figure..what it costs to send a dog to the UK...don't need specifics - are we talking hundreds/thousands....?

a lovely post to read on a Friday morning..terrific news!
-
the scariest part in all this is that we think we can reason with our dogs...and that they will understand, for instance, the concept of five minutes...I hear myself doing it...'look, if you eat this worming tablet, we'll think about a nice treat later on'....scary!

these are the postings I love best of all!

absolutely nothing for you to reproach yourself for..you have taken every step required to help this dog...now time for both of you to 'recover'.

Isn't that called child labour...one thing to condone such activity, another to post photos of it! ( )

I am so sorry for you Tikira and for your little boy.

I don't have children and yes my dogs are very important to me. I don't want to get into the kid vs dog in a burning building debate because I have been there before. My dogs are my world because really I don't have much else. Not that I feel "wo is me" but I don't have any family so they make ME happy. I love coming home to them, I love the fact that they are the happiest dogs in the world even when I just go to the letterbox, yes they are challenging but what would I do without them My dogs are not a substitute for children and to be quite honest that sh*ts me. I never wanted children so how would I replace something I never wanted? My dogs make me happy...and isn't that what lifes all about?
That's exactly how I feel SM :)
I don't have children and don't treat my dogs like children either. My animals mean the world to me and they make me happy, to me that's what is important to me, just like other people's children or oh are important to them.
Thanks for these replies..because they are exactly where I am at..my dogs don't fill a void..they are their own magic.

I watched a news article the other day where a woman declared her devotion to her rats – to the point where she had left her husband (I think). Anyway, she freely declared that she preferred animals to humans. Whilst I don't totally agree with this sentiment, I will admit that my two have never intentionally hurt me...although I can't say the same about some of the humans in my life. I just wondered, on a Friday arvo, where your animals sat in the pecking order and why?
Half way step to being a hoarder IMO. Tends to happen when the number of animals goes up and the other person in the relationship doesn't share the passion. Happens in the dog world too.
I don't think this argument really goes anywhere. I am entirely responsible for the health and welfare of any animal I own that cannot fend for itself. Therefore in terms of priorities, I see to the care and welfare of those animals over and above that of other people. However, I don't kid myself that dogs and people can hold the same place in my life.
Preferences one way or the other seem somewhat pointless - dogs are not people, people are not pets.
I sometimes get the impression that the "I prefer animals to people" brigade think they they are kinder human beings because of it. I don't. Maybe they just need to meet kinder people.
I think that's the rub...I think I moved closer to animals because humans have disappointed me in the past...mind you, I always remember that forum item where people were asked who they would save first from a burning fire..and I guess it would still very much be my husband..

absolute ignorant question..but why are greyhounds muzzled..are they a genuine threat to safety..more so than other dogs? Is this action borne out of hard fact?

You would have to love her to bits...no other approach appropriate..she's lovely!

It doesn't matter what sort of s..t day I've had at work, when I pull up the drive way in my car, my two meet me as if I am at the very least, the Second Coming reincarnate. Lifts my spirits no end!
I get the exact same reaction....when I get back from the letterbox
that's showing off..now I feel very inadequate :)

that's one pampered pooch..but you don't pass 4 too often. Happy B'day.
