  1. Bob wants you to know that this is not his most flattering shot. Plus his owner HATES her htc phone and is desperately waiting for work to give her the new Iphone Shiny Bob with weight on him
  2. Maybe give him one leaf of Pennywort a day, it is excellent for human arthritis. You may even have some growing around your place.http://www.thegarden.../tag/pennywort/ Oh my goodness, I have that stuff growing like a weed here. We have been looking for a poison to use on it before it starts invading the horse paddocks. How interesting, I will look into that more! I am on the Central Coast?
  3. Thanks guys. Ness I will order some of that tonight. I've got him on a human MSM/Glucosamine/Chondroiton powder and he has been a little better this weekend. I am fairly certain it is arthritis. He's just such a sweetheart. We went out last night and I had the young girl next door dog sit for us :o I just adore him, he is the biggest sweetheart
  4. Hi, He is fantastic! Absolutely adore him and he is no trouble at all. Pleased to report that his ribs are now starting to get a covering over them and his coat is looking really shiny. He has given me two heart attacks though. About two days ago I was bringing horses out of house paddock and he did zoomies in the house yard and one of his legs gave out on him Something similar happened this morning, he went to come up the stairs to me and his front leg buckled under him and he fell onto the stairs Both times he has been OK afterwards and is weight bearing but I am wondering if he has arthritis? Just wondering if I should add something to his food to help out a bit? I have MSM / Glucosamine powder here and I've found that helps my joint pain. Or should I be getting a vet to give him a course of cartrophen? He's just such a sweety and seems to know this is home now :) We haven;t been able to teach him bad habits and get him on the lounge or bed yet
  5. PM the member SAS who does work with rescue great danes and ask if she would mind sharing one of her booklets with you. They have a fantastic guide to separation anxiety and how to deal with it. It should help and there is no special equipment needed :)
  6. Gb, are they still looking? I know of a pug X in Somersby looking for a home. I can send you some details on FB
  7. Sorry, meant to update. He is going really well. Completely fine with the cats and it's like they don't exist, he ignores them. To be safe he is crated at night but he seems happy with that and the crate is HUGE so he has heaps of space He is getting fed twice a day, this morning roast chicken and some pasta. Tonight will be meat and kibble. He is still thin with his hip bones jutting out, so will be happy when he has a bit more weight on him. Have been adding a bit of egg to his kibble and have some tins of sardines also. He had some teeth removed so don;t think he would go too well with bones? We don't feed them a lot here because one of our guys will food guard and it was so hard to completely clean up any scerrick of bone from the yard He still seems lost. He likes to spend the days outside on the deck and will quite often go to the gate and just stand there staring. I think his misses his old owner. Hopefully he will settle in more as time passess.
  8. Jilliby is in NSW. Unfortunately the owners won't listen
  9. There is a husky in Jilliby who is chained 24/7, so disgusting and the talk of everyone on the community because they all feel so sorry for him He's on 3 or so acres and they have built a house yard with colorbond but this poor bloody dog is still chained to a kennel in the front yard. He can move about 3 or 4 m around the kennel But no cruelty cause he has shade, shelter and water :mad
  10. Thanks guys. I will rework the diets a bit and try get something workable for all 3. I am feeding Holistic Select senior at the moment. I've fed TOTW in the past and like this so may swap back. Will check out cost of Ziwipeak but imagine it is going to be waaaaay too exxy My mally x is getting some Megaderm for his skin so have added a little for Bob also. The other thing that RSPCA told us was that he only recently got desexed. Not sure if that will have any bearing on his personality, but he has shown no dominance issues at all He's racked out asleep in his crate, so sweet
  11. I saw him yesterday and what a doll! All the dogs were going off and he was just laying quietly in his kennel He looks such a gorgeous boy
  12. He did tolerate Pepe going into his crate today and sitting next to him so I think it is only when he is asleep he gets cranky? Honestly it is something we can easily work with by crating when we can't supervise closely. He is fine in the crate, he just took himself back in :) My guys get kibble and dog roll. Sometimes they get eggs if the girls have been laying well. I am thinking we might starting cooking up chicken, rice and veg and serve that with kibble? They said he was very under weight when he arrived and they have started to put some weight back on him. He also had flea dermatitis over his rump but that seems to be sorting itself out I feel so sad for him, I think he is missing his human. I wish you could take them to see their old owner in the hospital / nursing home I think he would like that
  13. New collar, new coat, new bed :D OMG his collar was so full of gunk when I undid it I think he might have been wearing that for quite a while ....
  14. He's going really well. He seems a little confused about where to be and what to do. He seems to want to spend a lot of time outside, but it is too cold!!!! So he has been inside with a fire going all day. He slept really well last night and went out for a toilet break this morning. He is very house trained! No issues with the cats at all, only the occasional growl when someone goes near him when he is sleeping. It seems mostly contained to Pepe How much food does a greyhound eat? I asume that becaiuse he weighs around some weight as Charlie (29kg) that he would eat roughly the same amount of food. He's obviously not been in a house with sliding glass doors as he has donked himself twice walking into them So far, absolutely no trouble at all to have around
  15. I hope he sticks also, he seems a lost soul. It's almost like he is looking for his old owner who I understand is in hospital and no longer able to care for him. I am not sure of the full circumstances, but I wish his owner knew he was now OK and safe He seems to so far only have an issue with Pepe, our small dog. But only when he goes near him when he is sleeping. To be safe we are going to crate him overnight and when we can't watch him like a hawk. We had roast lamb for dinner and he was so gentle the way he took left overs from us :) He's got a new coat, new bed and seems to be settling in. He's a lot warmer than he was last night and has a warm fire going near him Apparently his old name was "dog" so he is now Bob the dog
  16. He's here at my place :) Settling in OK but not sure if he will fit in with everyone. He just growled at Pepe when Pepe went up to sniff him. Will see how we go over the next 24 hours He is uninterested in cats and had no interest at all in all the chickens who were running around
  17. I tried calling rspca with not a lot of luck Called, finally got through. They said they do not know his history and that he was fine when walking past a cat and didn't react when cat hissed at him. Then I started to ask more questions and was cut off somehow and they haven't answered when I have tried calling back This house is so small that I could not separate him from the cats at all, there just aren't enough rooms here. I might go down tomorrow (working today unfortunately) and meet him. GB does he still have it in him to chase the cats?
  18. Oh and els pointed out we have heaps of rabbits around. Sam, my italian neighbour, would probably cook him rabbit stew if he started picking off the rabbit population
  19. I just need to make sure any dog we take is good with cats. I work from home so they are all indoors together most of the time and when I am not home, they all tend to stay indoors. I won't ever take on a new one if it could possibly endanger the existing ones. I will call them tomoz and see if they will agree to trialling him. My two boys are fine with any other dogs, so he only needs to pass the cat test, and be OK seeing horses through a fence :)
  20. I dont have much info atm on his background, but he should be too rickety to cause much trouble. His listing says ok with cats and dogs This is his adoptapet write up: http://adoptapet.com.au/animal/animalDetails.asp?animalType=3,16&statusid=3&regionID=7&task=search&tpage=1&animalid=295631 OK with cats? Is that the green lisiting and how is that tested? He could possibly live out his days here. No heater, we have a wood fire Els has always wanted a greyhound and we have soft spot for the oldies
  21. He uses the rescue dogs as sled dogs. Perfect environment for them as they get loads and loads of exercise :) If I recall he takes dogs to one of the poles for racing, North I think? I'm fairly certain he has rehomed dogs as I've dealt with him over the years.
  22. A piece of crap is being generous dogmad and yes she lied Karma's a b*#ch. Luvmypet thank you for posting the happy ending, thank dog for Nicole & Scott and DRN. +1 you said everything i was thinking I have a soft spot for the oldies
