  1. Vent away. Yes you are entitled to be disappointed. Can you get any sort of refund, no idea. Beauty is as beauty does.

I have Greyhounds, have bred them and shown them. Same ears as whippets. But my adopted retired race dog, nope, not only does she have prick ears but also a Roman nose. Though at least I knew what she was as soon as I saw her.

As your disappointment eases you'll see what you have. A wonderful friend and pet for your family, and the ears will grow on you ❤️

  2. I would be making the complaint to the relevant body. Don't necessarily weigh the complaint to the money side but more the unethical lack of contact etc. Just so they take notice of the breeders behaviour and hopefully prevent others going down your path. I would engage a solicitor and send a letter of demand for return of your deposit and I would certainly go down the small claims route.

Sorry you are going through this. Oh and I would also let Dogz know about the breeders ethics

Thankyou everyone for your help its much appreciated. Ive decided not to attend. The whole point of me wanting to go was to meet the kbd in person and bonus if they had mals and other spitz on the same day like the old days when each day they had the room with different breeds to view and the breeders would be there happy to answer any questions. I wonder why they stopped doing that daily and only have one day now.

Most breeders are only to happy to talk about their dogs, especially rare breeds. No need for a special room. Be polite, ask if this is a good time to chat and take it from there.

  4. You're welcome @LadeWhanau You have to be a member for over 12 months before you can breed registered pups and will need to sit a test and get a prefix. Of course your pup will be too young for breeding anyway until that time has passed. There are also restrictions on what age you can breed a female depending on her breed. And I think they have to have the relevant health/DNA tests, that was coming in as I was getting out :) Mind you I did all the tests I could including non mandatory ones. Always nice to know what is in your dogs bloodlines.

  5. I've never had an owner send in papers to be transferred to their name until after they were a member of their state body. I have never heard of any one doing this so have never heard of the papers being down graded. And it seems very weird to me. After all if you were going to breed your dog the papers don't matter unless you yourself are registered, then there is a code of ethics etc to be followed.

It wasn't a mistake that the breeder got the papers in their name. That's how it happens in Victoria. Breeder get the papers, then gives them to the new owner, then new owners gets papers into their name. Was the paper blue or orange?

  6. the other thing to consider is some supplements can upset the thyroid. I don't know about Pekes but Greyhounds can be quite thyroid "complicated". I did ask my vet about it but she wasn't sure about it. My vet did try plaque off on her older Poodle cross and it didn't help at all and Polly still had to be put under for a dental.
