  1. I do believe jazzy4 has left the building. Permanently it seems! Good.
  2. This post is really quite disgusting. I am amazed you are not ashamed and embarrassed, regardless of whether you participated or not. The fact that an animal is vermin or a pest is no excuse for inflicting cruelty, something you are apparently endorsing. Just appalling.
  3. Stop me if I'm wrong someone, but I cannot see where the story says, or anybody else (except Sandgrubber) says, they will be put to sleep. A red herring surely.
  4. Sandgrubber said it was a bad news story and seems under the impression the dogs are going to be put to sleep. That appears unlikely to me (even if they are still awaiting a home) because they are safe with a Victorian rescue.
  5. Umm...why does it seem likely? Aren't they safe with a Victorian rescue?
  6. So glad these old darlins have been reunited. Think they should revert to their original names though, after everything they've been through.
  7. It sounds so snug and comfy that I wouldn't mind bunking in with your dogs myself!
  8. I am amazed that anyone would allow a dog offlead in an inner city street. It's just asking for trouble. Even out in the sticks in Canberra it can have tragic consequences - I once met a woman whose normally law-abiding dog had been run over and killed after it chased a kangaroo through a park and across a road.
  9. If animals can get under the house at all, flea-bpmb under there as well. That was the source of my dogs' flea infestation some years ago - problem instantly solved.
  10. I got this model for half price too but I don't think I'd have bought it if it had not been on sale. It's pretty good but not as powerful as my 10 year old Wertheim vaccy with a turbo head. It goes like the clappers and I reckon the carpeted areas of my house look much cleaner after they've been Wertheimed compared with a Hoovering.
  11. Hi Lily My desexed female Golden Retriever was diagnosed with bladder stones about two years ago, aged 7. A feature of her condition was struvite crystals in the bladder. She has been on Royal Canin Urinary ever since (both wet and dry foods) and the problem has not recurred. My vet said she would have to remain on this food for life, as the next step would be surgery if the crystals recurred. Fortunately she likes the RC Urinary - and doesn't the name makes it sound sooo appetising!! I also have another Golden who does not have the condition. When I sneak her a bone or other treat I make sure the other is distracted somewhere else around the house or yard with a game or a good brushing. It's a pain separating them but it becomes second nature afetr a while! I'm surprised you were only prescribed the dry food as the canned RC Urinary is exactly the same stuff except for moisture and texture and we were prescibed both right from the start. Cheers.
  12. Magnificent! Those pack pics are gorgeous - seems like he's always been there. From the earlier pics posted I thought Mack looked like a German Shep cross, but now he looks 100 per cent Belgian Shepherd - is that what you reckon Cathy?
  13. Dying to see the new pics - hope you're onto it, Julzic!
  14. Thanks Persephone and The Ark. It's funny how warming Snowy's breakfast and hiding her pills in it became routine. When I get up now I still have this vague feeling there is something I should be doing for her!
  15. Thanks Baifra. And I do love the golden oldies in your signature pic!
  16. Dearest Mack - what a heart breaker. Thank you to everyone who has helped this special boy. Cathy, I know you will ensure his remaining time is the happiest and most comfortable of his life. Thank you for that. Is he a Shepherd cross?
  17. A welterweight of Boxers A silence of Basenjis A swag of Kelpies A loyalty of Australian Cattle Dogs A dillybag of Dingoes A bargeload of Schipperkes
  18. An elegance of Afghans A nakedness of Cresties A shagpile of Pulis A guffaw of Golden Retrievers A Mensa of Border Collies ETA: Afterthought: A conglomerate of cross-breeds!
  19. My dogs had an infestation many years ago - nothing worked until I flea-bombed UNDER the house. Bingo - problem solved and thankfully, it has never returned!
  20. Thanks DM - almost got her breakfast ready this morning. The vet had said I would know it was time when she went off her food. Well, she never did go off her food but was clearly getting more uncomfortable. Among her many endearing qualities I will always remember her hearty appetite!
  21. Thanks Kelly_Louise. I can certainly feel her absence tonight.
  22. Thanks Fiona - I'm trying hard to be brave!
  23. Dearest Snowy was put gently to sleep this morning, four months after being diagnosed with lymphoma. She was a month shy of her 15th birthday. Her origins were very humble - she was a pet shop mongredoodle bought by my sister in Melbourne. Snowy lived in a very dysfunctional household for 12 years with a number of other dogs who bullied her, and she spent most of her time cowering under my sister's bed until she came to me. She was loved in Melbourne but her life was far from ideal. When she came to me she was wary of my two big sooky Goldens until she realised they were not intending to have her for breakfast and she ended up enjoying their company and having some great games with them. More than anything she loved a walk and she had heaps of them here. I know her last two and a half years were the happiest of her life, and that is a great comfort. Our beautiful Snowy Chloe / Snowlene Jolene. We love you girl and we'll never forget you. Wait for me over the bridge! XXXXX
  24. Me too. Did she mention clothes? No matter how careful I am, I always look like I have been rolling around on the carpet within a few minutes of putting something on. But I do love my dogs and I wear my permanent mohair look with pride!
