  7. I have a Canon 60D. My first ever DSLR and before that I used the SLR my Dad got for his 21st birthday (but he made me give it back when I moved out of home at 21, so it has been a while and I am very out of practice) I'm using a Canon 50mm lens. I had that exact combo for 12 months and got some really awesome pics I love from it Here is mine for today 13/12/12
  8. Yeah lots around Midland  I'm happy with Mexican if that's ok with everyone else?
  9. If it's ok I'm going to attempt this too. I think shooting every day for 89 days will help me get the hang of my new camera, I would really LOVE to stick to it - I don't have a great track record with photo challenges... 12/12/12
  10. Sorry, hijacking a little Thinking of getting the 60D, would DWI be the best/cheapest place to go through? Mine came from DWI at the time, they have pretty competitive prices. :)
  11. I just got my 7D and was shooting in overcast conditions at about 1730 - I had no problems. :) I also used my 50mm 1.8 and was really happy with the shots, if you want to see them I put them up in my deciding which camera thread here: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/244394-starting-again/page__view__findpost__p__6050544
  12. So I already had my first play! We have beatiful photo conditions - overcast and wet Here are my first few fav shots: All with my 50mm 1.8
  13. Yep the warranty card says Australia and New Zealand Only! If anyone is looking for a 7D PM me and I can email my receipt - some JB Hi Fis will match!
  14. Yeah I used one in Vic for some dog show pics and it literally captures every footfall!!! I never used all those modes on my 60D anyway, they just got in the way. So that's not a problem for me at all, I realized I need to get some CF cards though!
  15. Wow look at all the training forum puppies expecting puppies next year!! We might need a thread just for training forum babies! :) I will be happy to indulge! I am really excited at having the chance to raise a litter and share lots pf pics! Who knows we might see a puppy pop up in the 2014 goals ;)
  16. Well done Ptolomy and Scoota! Your much braver then I am ;)
  17. Thanks guys, I'm going to pick up my 7D soon I ended up buying from JB Hi Fi but I have to go into the city store to pick it up. I was guaranteed the camera is Australian stock and if you do some googling you can find out JB's Grey import business venture folded. I was really happy to get the 7D for $1250 locally - plus I have it right away and have no need to stress about the camera being held up in customs/not making it to Australia etc. Now I am up to shopping for a new lens... I'm torn between the Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM, the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM and the Canon EF 70-200mm f4L. It was my telephoto that was stolen, so I don't have one to use and I do have a wide angle zoom that I'm borrowing from a friend, but it's a standard kit lens and I was planning on buying my own upgrade at some point anyway. Do you think that no IS on the 70-200 will be a big issue?
  18. Camera Paradise has the 7D for $975 (Plus $75 postage) so in theory even if customs checked it because the goods were under $1000 no need to pay GST right?
  19. I had a 60D Ness and really liked it, my main reason for wanting a 7D is more frames per second and the better AF :) Plus I figure I should make something good out of the situation by getting something new and shiny :D
  20. Has anyone price matched JB Hi Fi? I found this Image of receipt was inserted here - but it was huge so I have deleted it. and another receipt for JB Hi Fi for a 7D at the same price, for Australian product and being able to get extended warranty that's pretty good if I can get them to match that right?
  21. Im interested in coming to dinner too :) Im not too fussed where, the place that's most convenient for everyone suits me Unfortunately unless the dog meetup is on a Wednesday or Tuesday or in the evening I'll be working.
