  1. Update on Bonnie the little Collie Bonnie is quietly enjoying living in the country, I attach a picture of her taken this morning with her little jacket on to keep the cold off her back. She has good days and bad days but generally she is amazing. Her coat is growing quite long now and is thickening up ready for a Rydal winter I think. Most days she has 2 full meals and anything else that is being offered. If I am running late getting her breakfast she simply stands there staring at me until I get up and get her something to eat. She sleeps on a big fluffy doona in my ensuite having claimed that position and doona as hers. She doesn't play with the other Collies but she is always trotting around with them and is always with me and the pack when I am doing things around the property. The horrible smell has gone now that she is kept clean, brushed and on good freshly cooked meals everyday. She is such a beautiful girl I am thankful for every day that she stays well and happy
  2. These wonderful Gran (& Gramps) dogs are inspirational. We keep saying they finish up giving us more than we can ever give them. They sure are and they sure do, so much more ;)
  3. Don't mess with Gran! is her motto. I love her fighting spirit. No wonder she's doing so remarkably well, in the face of cancer. I too love her spirit . She loves it so much here with the other Collies and inside the house with a full belly twice a day, she is determined that she is not giving it up without a fight, beautiful old lady
  4. I cant believe how well she is doing for someone with cancer and for that reason I never thought I could get some weight on her , she is beautiful and truly amazing There have been a couple of times where one of the other Collies have run into her and knocked her over as they have turned to chase a ball and she has been right in their path, well she goes after them and grabs a mouthful of their fur and has such a cranky look on her face, it's so funny watching her seek revenge
  5. Sorry for the delay but here is a recent picture of Miss Bonnie. She has put weight on and yesterday after she had eaten her breakfast, little Keelie went over to see if there was a morsel of something on the floor and Bonnie thought Keelie was getting something she had left behind and Bonnie flattened her. It was hilarious, poor Keelie was stunned at being attacked by the old grandmother
  6. Thank you everyone for your words of support to Bonnie, this lovely girl is such a beautiful old lady, She has settled in here so well and follows me everywhere. Her eyesight is failing and if I move too far away from her she thinks I have gone and she barks non-stop until she can see or hear me. The other Collies are so good with her, it is as if they know she is ill and only has a short time with us so they treat her so gently. There is nothing wrong with her appetite and nothing she doesn't eat, paws x'd it stays that way for her. I cook pasta, meat and vegetables every night and she just loves the warm meal and also my vegemite on toast which I share with her as she puts her head on my lap when I am eating, so I cant resist can I ;) Its always so hard losing the golden oldies that come to us near the end of their lives as they are such special souls and I know I want to try to make it up to them for the abuse and neglect that they have suffered in their short life
  7. Bonnie is eating everything I am giving her, which is 3 small and 1 large meal a day and this morning I started her on Puppy food just to at least try to get some weight on her as I am sure that she will feel better if we can just to get a covering on her ribs. She slept beside my bed last night mixed in with the sea of Collies that sleep there everynight She now has kennel cough on top of everything else, poor baby
  8. We went to Blacktown pound last Tuesday (her due date) to pick up this poor old girl and was told that a woman from Newcastle had put a tender on her but could not pick her up for a few days. Friday morning we got a call from the pound to say that the woman had taken her tender off Bonnie which meant that she spent 3 more than necessary nights in the pound . She was crawling with fleas and so encrusted with flea dirt that she had to have 2 baths as it was so bad it was taking more than 1 hour at a time and she was just so over it, you could not see the skin on her legs for the flea dirt. Took Bonnie to the vets yesterday and she has a massive tumor in her abdomen and is not long for this earth I am so angry at the treatment of this lovely old girl, she is the most docile and loving creature that you could find and for her to be so neglected and discarded at this time in her life when she is dying is unforgiveable. They would have know that she was ill as she has massive folds of skin that look like bulbous growths from her losing weight so quickly. She will stay with me for the rest of her days and is loving it in the country with the other Collies. She is eating well, unfortunately not house trained but isnt that what paper towel and mops are for. I can only hope that people who had her before get the justice they deserve when their time comes. Judy
  9. Beautiful shots, I am off out in the garden with my camera now
  10. I add 1/2 cup of washing soda, it makes the washing powder work more efficiently and eliminates soap scum
  11. I have a picture in my head of your naughty little boy lifting his leg on each pew and then attacking the shoes of the men standing to watch you walk down the aisle and there would be Jane smiling blissfully thinking 'dog he's cute, I'm so glad I included him in the day' :D ;)
  12. How, what, when??????? :D From a private rehoming listed on a rescue site. Narelle was talking to the rescue about 1 of their dogs and next thing they knew she had taken the private rehoming, a 2yo male with all of his vet work done. Narelle rang a couple of days afterwards and said she was having trouble with him barking.
  13. So sad for one so young, RIP Stella
  14. I will quote you again, you sent this to a group that refused to adopt a pup to you after reading this thread and this was your response to them and lucky for the Kelpie that his carers also read this thread and refused to allow their foster to go to you. "The kelpie from Kurri looks like the only bet at the moment as he is free and really due to our financial situation he really fits our lifestyle & our budget" So you get a Border Collie (not from a rescue group) delivered to your front door and he obviously fitted your lifestyle and budget as he was FREE. You dont even give him 24 hours. He had just had a long drive, is thrown into a new environment and you give him no time to settle in, not even a full day. Lucky for him he had history attached to him so someone, you, whoever contacted the breeder who took his dog back. What would have happened to a dog that had no paper trail, that had been dropped off to you 'ftgh' no chip, nothing and like the Border Collie although he should have fitted your budget and lifestyle because he was FREE (great reason to get a dog NOT ) where would that dog be now, possibly wandering the streets of Bathurst, who knows. You do this to the Border Collie and then you still continue to plague rescue groups and pretend that you have the money to pay for these dogs that you obviously don't want nor are you able to pay for.
  15. So leave rescue alone seeing that you have such a low opinion of us and my head spins but you could never make it happen, 1 too many glasses of wine, yes Oh and by the way Clint would be so pleased with the velocity of his famous quote 'Go ahead, make my day'. You are star born
  16. My life is hardly tiny and I have far more to do than unnecessarily say anything about anyone for no reason
  17. Funny thing is that is what we do act human, we are humans taking care of the abandoned neglected animals left behind by others and we try to place them into good homes and someone like you comes along and thinks it is OK to play with their futures again
