  1. oohh All good ideas, better than a friend of mine suggesting 'Salad' I like Cleo, goes well with Caesar. Not sure on how to add a photo sorry, otherwise I would for sure
  2. I have finally got my little fella a mate, another cavalier King Chales girl. She is 12 weeks old and I cannot think of a suitable name for her. Any ideas?
  3. Good morning all! I live in the Ballarat area and have a bag of the above mentioned food that I only purchased last week and have only used a handful of. It is the four meats - Chicken, turkey, lamb and ocean fish flavour. 2.27kg bag. My dog does not like it and if there is any body in the local area who would like it, you can have it. Let me know if interested
  4. What is the product that you use from the homeopath? I would love to use something natural on my boy rather than antibiotics when he has an episode. He is currently on metron for his latest bout of diarrhoea which he has had for over a week, only beginning to clear up now!!!!
  5. You are absolutely right there. Very good point!
  6. I think i know the trainers you are referring to, they are mine as well. They went through so much research and medical treatments & tests.... it was horrible So sad, so its obvious by the response that I have had that the disease exists in Australia. I dont think it is widespread. but none the less it still is amongst us!
  7. Very helpful information thanks guys.... :D
  8. Ok so I am naive and had never heard of any here. Its quite sad really. Thanks for the links, going through them now
  9. Wow, its obviously kept very quiet isnt it? I hope so DOL'ers can come forward and share their stories. Would love to hear from somebody regarding it
  10. Thats horrible!!!! I was hoping that nobody had heard of it here, as it seems to rife in the UK and USA
  11. Just a question out of curiosity..... Does anybody know of any cases of syringomyelia in the cavalier king charles spaniel in Australia? The idea just popped into my head while I was reading a new book called 'For the love of Ollie' Such a devastating disease
  12. To follow up, Just took my dog to the vet to be checked, just to be on the safe side. Going to wean him off the cortisone and change his diet over to royal canin intestinal to see how he goes. His stools are still a little loose, but improving. The vet seems to think he has an intolderance to the protein in food. So hopefully all goes well
  13. If I were to use a raw diet, then what would this encompass, He already eats plenty of chicken necks with his kibble. Are the vegies raw also?
  14. I also read that long term cortisone use can cause pancreatitis. But what is classed as long term? My dog has been on the drug for just over a month now? I have given him some ensal to alleviate the diarrhoea, but he is still moping around and sleeping too much? He is eating the chicken and rice ok though, so he still has an appetite. Do you think its worth a trip to the vet?
  15. I think this is rather common, and although there are a number of theories behind it, I dont think that there is an absolute conclusion as to why they do it.
  16. I have a little fella who used to suffer regularly from IBD, but has not had an episode in over 12 months....Until now!!! In the last two months I have changed his food over to the Black Hawk, which he seems to like, but I am again having trouble with diarrhoea, and he has had it for the past 3 days and is very listless. As a result I am thinking of putting him back onto a prescription diet for good to save any future hassles. I have previously used Royal Canin Intestinal. Does anybody know of any other suitable foods that I can try, he was not a fan of the Hills I/D at all. Any help is appreciated
  17. I am forever having his heart checked every time that I am at the vet, and so far so good..... But these checks are only done with a stethoscope, not ECG. I just want him happy and healthy
  18. No it wont fade, and if you are interested in showing then this is not the breed standard colour, there should be NO white on a black and tan. If you were only buying pet quality then its a personal decision. If it were me, and I were purchasing the dog at a high price with pedigree papers then I would not buy. If I were only paying a few hundred with no papers then I would go for it. I guess it just depends on what you are using the dog for. Go to the Cavalier club of Vic website, they have the breed standard colours listed there
  19. I was almost going to take him to the vet today, but thought I would try him with his best mate, and he came to life........ He was normal. He is also still eating so I was not particularly concerned that he was physically ill. Since coming home he is back to sleeping..... His friend is also a cav and they get along famously, yet he wont get along with any of my partners dogs in the same way. He will acknowledge them but not engage in play.
  20. \ Wow, really? I thought the ban was Australia wide.... Such a beautiful looking dog though
  21. With the fantastic temperaments that goldies have, I think they will be fine!!!!!! Male or female
  22. I was wondering if dogs suffered from depression in the same way as humans might? My little fella seems to be sleeping excessively, and he appears to just mope around the house looking bloody miserable... If i pick up a toy he may come to life. I do have a busy schedule with work and uni and probably need to spend more time with him, but as he is indoors he is always around me, and he usually comes to work with me so its not really that often that he is alone as such... The only life changing scenario that I can think of it the fact that I moved house about 4 months ago from acreage to a suburban setting??? But being a companion dog (cav) he is happier inside following me around anyway, although he did love the open spaces of the country. Any suggestions are much appreciated
