  1. Thanks very much for that. I was hoping it was not just my imagination.
  2. I know what I would do if I got hold of them......
  3. I know that cortisone makes dogs drink a lot of water, but does it also make them a bit hungrier also? My dog was prescribed some yesterday and he seemed to have a hearty appetite last night.... Could be coincidence, but just thought i would ask about Thanks
  4. Boo is such a little stunner. She is gorgeous!!!!!!
  5. I also watch The Dog whisperer.. I like Cesar Milan. I went and seen him when he came to Melbourne last year and it was a really good night
  6. Wow, These photos are so beautiful
  7. One of each would be an absolute dream, but dont think the other half would appreciate 4 of them taking over the house
  8. Hmmm, Blenheim for me too
  9. I think its a great idea, but I am guessing it would be impossible to police.....
  10. A very good morning to you all As I had mentioned in a previous thread I am ready to embark on the journey of another puppy. I am after a black and tan female, and was basically wondering if a specific breeder could be recommended to me. My blenheim boy has has a string of health issues and he is only 2 years old, so this time I want to do my homework properly and buy from an absolutely outstanding breeder who eye and heart checks their puppies. I guess patellas as well.... I am not in a great hurry and am willing to wait for the perfect puppy to come along. So if it is allowed, (I have a feeling its not) can anybody suggest or recommend a particulary outstanding breeder to me, perhaps via PM if its not allowed to appear on the forum. Thanks
  11. I am totally infatuated with the cavalier king charles spaniel!!!!! I own one blenheim and am looking into getting him a mate, perhaps a black and tan girl as they are my second favourite colour.. Was wondering what your favourite shade of cav was???
  12. You said 'stupid me gives in and gives him chicken necks, which he inhales.......' You and your dog are not as stupid as you think. Your dog is trying to tell you something. He doesn't want or like the dry food. Admittedly, dogs should not be spoiled but what's wrong with feeding him the way dogs should be fed? I would like him eating dry as it is complete and balanced. I am happy for him to have half a cup a day as well as his necks, but I want him eating the dry before I re-offer the necks. Today is D day and only dry will be offered until he gets into a routine Wish me luck!!!!
  13. Thanks so much for the suggestions... Plan is to put his dinner down when we have ours, he then has about 20 minutes to eat. If not eaten Ill pick it up until the next feeding time..... I WILL BE STRONG!!!!!!!
  14. Ok Should I do this twice per day? Once I am happy that he is eating the dry food normally, then Ill add a chicken neck or two. Does that sound good?
  15. As a kennel worker I think the funniest thing was a toothbrush..... Also have seen people come in with alarm clocks, portable radios and even a couch When I leave my dog at a kennel I send along his bed, and a favourite toy, as well as his own treats... Thats all he needs!
  16. Good afternoon, I am the first to admit that I may go a little overboard with my dog. I think I have built a massive rod for my back and things have got to change!!!! He goes everywhere with me (mostly), But thats not really the problem. I tend to give into him too easily with food. This is driving me crazy bacause the stubborn little bugger wont eat dry food for me. Stupid me gives in and gives him chicken necks, which he inhales........ Next day Ill try again, to no avail. As I said, Its all my own fault, and I think its his eyes that make me give in..... (Cav) I want to feed him Black hawk, and for the first few days he ate it, and I was rapt, but then he stopped... Please any suggestions would be great. I know its mostly in my head and I know that he wont go hungry or starve himself if I only offer him the dry... But should I put it down for only 15 minutes and then pick it up and eventually he will get the idea that if he does not eat then he misses out? Or should I leave it on the floor all the time for him? Whats the best way to MAKE my dog eat what I want him to eat? All help and ideas are greatly appreciated
  17. I have some panalog for another problem. Does this lubricate the eye really well? I don't think you should use medications that were not first OK'd with your vet. If possibel you might want to consider going to an eye specialist. I had a vet look at eye problem my dogs was having, after a week and it seemed liek things were getting worse, I took the dog to a specialist. Different DX and different treatment and all was well very soon. I think if things with eyes are not going well is is worth the money to have an expert take a look. I have spent thousands of dollars on his eyes (literally) over the last two years, and all of this was through an eye specialist, not a vet. I would not use anyhting not prescribed for the eye without forst consulting the eye specialist. As I had previously posted, his eye doctor wanted to keep going with the current drug, which i am doing, but I was using more lubricating ointments in between, lacrilube and viscotears...
  18. I have some panalog for another problem. Does this lubricate the eye really well?
  19. He was on the cyclosporine for a few months, and while this improved the tear production to around 25, he had very red eyes from using this, hence the reason he was put onto tacrolimus. But I feel I have the same results, his tear production on the new drug is only 15 which is still deemed sufficient.... I know that the others only lubricate, but surely this would also relieve? I dont know....
  20. I have some lacrilube and viscotears and was wondering if i should just try these alone for a while to see what happens. I realise that I would have to apply these more often to keep the eyes lubricated but am willing to do so. Only problem is that his opthalmologist wants to stick to the tactolimus and I am almost certain that this is causing the further irritation
  21. Dry eye is known to be an autoimmune problem as far as I knew.... I guess there could be other factors, but cavaliers are very prone to tis condition anyway
  22. Good morning all, I have a cav who was diagnosed with dry eye a few months ago. He was prescribed optimmune which seemed to burn his eyes and make them really red, where even the maxidex drops never helped. It was assumed that he was allergic to the cyclosporin. Robin Stanley then put him on the new drug - tacrolimus and I still seem to be having the same problem. I have called him and he would like to leave my dog on the tacrolimus, thinking that it may just be allergies (environmental) His eyes are so red this morning, but he does have a few good days, but seems to be having more bad days than anything. I can see that he is very uncomfortable. Does anybody have any suggestions or tips as to how I can better manage this situation as it is driving us crazy... The poor bugger, as I said, seems to be miserable all the time these days....
  23. What will they come up with next. I love my dog to bits but would not buy one of these.....Talk about humanising dogs
