  1. for my 2 belgain shepherds 1 is 27 kg and the other is 29 kg . i buy 10 kg chciken frames , 2 bags of beef brisket bones , 3 bags of turkey necks , 1 5kg of chicken mince and 1 5kg of roo mince , 4 cans of sardines , natural yougurt ,egg and rolled oats i don't feed vegies at all no pasta or no rice . for breakfast i cook up rolled oats the night before then i use a fork and crumble it as they dont like it clumpy lol though that i put yougurt and sardines they love it . for lunch they get a chicken frame eac and also a beef brisket bone for dinner they get a turkey neck eac maybe two depending on size of the neck , and 2 cups of roo or chicken mince i also get liver once a month i really hate handling this lol but they do get it. and i vary the mince so they get chicken 1 week and roo the next . i also get lamb shanks when i can get hold of them . my dogs have a very natural diet and its very easy and cheap to feed i always get comment on how soft and shiny my dogs coat are and they have lovely weights too .
  2. well then , i think you would be set for belgains , just aussies you need to reserach on , have fun finding the right dog isnt easy
  3. If you are getting a belgian or any breed in that fact i think it also depends on how much training , i have a working like dog here and even though he was a horror puppy , i put the time and effort into training him , if you not going to train a dog and leave it for long periods of time then of course there goes ur garden and holes in ur yard ect . i also found from my experience of belgians that like human company alot they don't like to be left alone for long periods i'm a stay at home mum and they spend all day with me , but i have a friend who works who has a 3 year old same age as my boy and he is very naughty until she gets home . you will get alot of opions on here but these are only opions , take it all in maybe talk to a few breeders don't rush take your time , i love working lines but i like high drive changeling dogs , but yet again that's what i like in any breed
  4. i think you need to get witch one suits you best , like any breed a belgian may not suit you . i would go and meet so aussie and then decided from there i personally love belgians and i had 3 currently two atm i have tervuerns , you need to do you reseach when buying one , lines maybe pick one from working lines i have 2 belgains here one is calm nervy boy , he was a show dog most of his life , and my other boy comes from working lines he is outgoing loving with alot of drive . like most people have said get the breed that suits you , its very important that you get a breed that suits you . there a saying someone told me and its very wise and ture , you dont get what you want , you get what you need good luck
  5. hi im not sure how she went , but i cant pick them up i dont have a car she wont surrender , the dog witch is making it hard and i think its unfair for the dog , i told her i would take the kitten and have him desexed and find him a home . there is probley more to the story u never know at this stage i really dont care about this lady i care about the animals . i dont think the rspca can take them with out her surrending she was going out about something like that .
  6. thanks heaps will give her there number

  8. summa would go to my neighbour , jasper would be kept by my mum , and the horses well mum would take them on lol . the cat would go to a freind and the rabbit i have asked mum to contact a rescue so he gets the right home .and if zoey comes back i would hope mum would keep her if not i would understand and she would go back to the breeder who looks after her dogs like family
  9. Comfortis is a top product i use it on all my dogs , i had majour flea promblems winter of summer and one of my dogs would loose his hair no matterw hat product and even loos weight dramatical due to fleas and the dermitists used Comfortis and he is back to his heatlhy seld know i dont have a promblem with fleas . you state she washes her dogs they stuff could be washing off , and when it rains and the dog gets wet it washes off this is what i found as my dogs are mainly outside well a few months back they were lol .
  10. Hi all , my mum use to breed and show rabbits we use to get the ones that she wouldnt keep she never sold out to breeders or pets they got skined and feed to my dogs , when she left it i took one some very large standard rex i couldnt kill the babies but the adults i did , but my dogs got to enjoy them so much we were had no food for a while and the dogs decided to break into my tin shed long story on how they did that and killed my 2 bucks went down with a fight anyway i gave them up and sold the rest , my dogs were healthies ever when they were eating rabbit they would get rabbit twice a week and there biscuits and were so fat .
  11. No offence to you, kat99, none taken i didnt word it very well , i have tervuern belgains and looked wisely into breeding lines before purchasing one i have 3 and all are great for kids only one was small though , i had a mal belgain and a gronedale as well but they didnt suit my male enviroment to hypo and full on as i have young kids so i do recomend terveuerns depending on lines , also i think a older dog would suit as normally is what you see if what you get , what if you rescued one from a pound or even got ur daughter into foster careering until the right dog came along you never know one that you would care for could be the match ?
  12. have you consider a belgain they are great , i had a female she was quite a small size like a small bordercollie my 4 year old could handle her , there great for agilty and bond greatly with there owners .
  13. gosford grooming salon great with dogs would highly recommend them
  14. hi , my belgian boy did this as he cant see out the fence , what we did that minumised the barking is when he ran up and down the fence barking we would get a plastic container and put a chocker chain it and though it down , if he automatically stoped i would thougha peice of cheese or something he liked down and praised him, when he stoped at that i would repaet though the container on the ground and say no/stop if he stoped i praised him with food again, he doesnt really do it anymore ocassionally he will esp when im out and hubby is just home but all we have to say i stop and he does. goodluck
  15. hi everyone , thanks heaps for all the advice , funny enough i thought it was strange 14 days i asked her and she said yes 14 days and then gave me a piece of paper and it says the same odd , he wound looks clean and i think one stitch has come loose but no weeping or anything . the last male dog we had was 10 days after and they took the sack off with jasper they left the sack is this normal or do different vets do different procedures ? they did say small walks on lead witch we did today , and i have given him a kong and we played a few games around the house where he had to find the food hehe and we also taught him today to open doors with a bit of rag on it lol . he is know sound alseep . he is 3 years old even though very quite he is very highly active dog if not kept stimlated
  16. i could be wrong but im sure its okay to start them at 12 weeks old my breeder advise me to start treatment at 11 weeks and that what we did alhough at that age he was very confind to house and yard and paddack so i felt he was safe .
  17. hi all, On Thursday my male Belgian shepherd got desexed .I'm having trouble keeping him confind i let him outside, but once he starts barking at people walking past and running up and down the fence , I bring him indoors and he will lay down , but he is so hypo and is mouthing me a bit (unusal behavouir) he is scratching trying to get the ball , stealing my sons toys . any ideas help please he looks depressed . it now has being 3 days will be 4 days tommrow she said no activity level for 14 days until the sticthes come out how do you keep a young working dog quite and calm .
  18. a big thanks to cointreau for kindly offering to pick up my boy after he gets done tommrow . it is kindly apprecaited

  20. mine were walking at 8 weeks at age across to paddack and back 1 lap around whne they were full vaccainated 25 to 30 minutes around the block , it also depends on your breed as some of the large breeders you have to be careful how much exercise you give them ,
  21. i was just reading these long two pages hehe , i try to give my dogs the best diet every they live pretty much on a natural diet of raw meat and vegies mixed though it now i was reading someone posted about vaccines 1 of my boys are vaccationed another is over due my like 12 mths and i have him booked in for thursday to get done is it a must to gte done to prevent diseases and that ? or is it toxi to there immune system ?

    Leonberger

hi all i have being thinking of getting a giant dog it has being between the bermese and the leo but after reading up on the leos , we have discovered that this guys seem best suited to our family home i have emails many nsw breeders with no replies . but have had 1 reply from a nz lady who has being of a great help i'm looking at getting one next year or the year after we were looking at getting one this year but that fell back at this stage as one of my dogs went missing two weeks ago and hasn't being found so , i think next year we might leave it too as i'm hoping to find my girl and have all my dogs bond together . i have young kids so need a quite and gentle breed and also have horses but i'm a active person who is a stay at home mum who wants a dog that is still fairly active but not nutty lol and loves water and ball games but this all comes down to training as well , how do they adapted to city life i have a huge yard massive fenced all the way around secure colour bond fencing and also have 25 acres across the road where i keep my horses and the dogs are allowed off leash while feeding eth horses twice a day . i'm still doing research but would love to meet some breeder dogs .
  23. My first dog was a cattle cross shepherd with some bully . he was a big learning experience he was aggressive , what i learnt was fear aggression got him from the rspca i had to learn quickly about obedience got bark busters in witch helped me heaps he was always aggressive towards bikes and people he didn't know but we got though life and sadly he passed away at 12 years old . then i had a cattle dog pup best dog i ever had easy to train , i loved him to death but later found out he had a heartmumor and lost him . then after that i wanted a large dog and fluffy one . so that's when i got my first belgian i started with a ex show dog 4 year old was advice of the breeder i taught him to sit and shack and we did some tracking with him too and i still have him and he is nearly 10 years old and then i got my first belgian puppy , jasper he was picked on temperament gentle and quite we had our bumps but he is a very well behaved dog but yet again it comes down to training on him . I also had a working dog belgian that was going to do agility with but didn't get that far as she has gone missing . i think any dog can be a first owners dog if they do the research and meet the breed or even take on a older dog for the experience before taking on a pup . At the end of the day it all comes down to training as well, the breeding lines . if you are not willing to put in time and effort in a pup / dog then you should think wisely about being a owner they are a life commitments and its just like having kids
  24. i was adviced by my vet to get some arthritis stuff for my old boy what does everyone , use and how good did u find it ?
