I would hate to have been manipulated by a breeder in this way; i like to think that purchasing a puppy is a team effort where open honest communication is exercised. Gees...call it how you like - I dont see it as manipulation at all, but gentle persuasion. Yep, seeing as you dont know the whole long and lengthy conversations that entailed beforehand I guess its easy just to assume there was a lack of communication. gentle persuasion would require the buyer to to be fully informed. based on the information above, i would call it as manipulation. if it was something different then, by all means, describe it as it was. If a lie was involved, then i would still consider the buyer was manipulated. I don't call it manipulation wish someone had done this for the working line border collie i brought when i moved out of home, i chose the pup that came up to me and wanted to play and go etc. 2 years of hell before he went back to a farm

I'd say cost is a big issue. I sometimes only enter 1 of my three dogs as i can't budget all three and i can't do this every weekend either Rising fuel and travel, Rising entry fees though (i am sure we all understand why they go up as well) I haven't shown my dogs in a few months due to being pregnant though showed a friends pups. I also find it hard when being one of the last breeds judged if i take my kids as we have nothing for them to do at our grounds (no idea if any other grounds have playgrounds or anything either) and they get bored and frustrated. Looking at getting back into the ring gues we are lucky here as we have night shows or the heat would turn me off as well
-
Booker is entered too MG Just come down and give it a go, if Gibbs plays up in the ring it isn't the end of the world! Plenty of naughty show dogs out there! Booker is naughty No one expects puppies to be perfectly behaved. How could cute booker be naughty ;) now if you had of said wolf or kelari i'd believe you I took a pup in the ring for the first time at the royal in the puppy class. I could barely get the dog to move or stand still lol and i hav had experience showing my own pups. My vey first show with no training was the rotti specialty with chandra i went in walked to where they pointed held dogs lead walked when judge told em to move dog lol i never even stacked her had no idea what that was or baiting when they said no baiting lol

I haven't bred yet but with my three dogs, my maiden bitch was chosen for me and her personality suits us to a t, she was returned to her breeder for 2 litters. I chose my second pup from her litter at birth from a picture, went and visited at 6 weeks (looking for show pup) breeder said these are the ones we are watching i kept getting drawn to my picture pup siad to breeder if she turns out i want her but i trust you. I got my girl, just something about her i was drawn to. Second litter i wasn't getting a pup but kept watching one male, he was the breeders pick and he stayed with her then came to us at 6 months again personality fits perfectly

Thanks MG. I am keeping a very close eye on zac the older kids have a very mild cough which i believe is more just from the cold they had. But yes poor zac isn't a happy camper and neither is his dad who coughs so much at night he can't sleep.

Teaching Drive In A Dog With None

No this isn't my dog i show him for the owner. He doesn't run any better for her or her partner he is just as slack as we thought he might work better for a male or something. On show days he doesn't get fed or fed the night before still doesn't really work. When i work him at his house he is all go go go i actually tape my shoulder as it is injured but as soon as he leaves his property he has no interest. I will try all these tips thankyou and thankyou for explaining a flirt pole we use them at specialties :D after hearing that i would start taking him to random places/parks, and just playing and offering jackpots, when he starts to feel comfortable, introduce one or 2 commands, then back to fun, fun, fun. would only take 5 mins, then back home. teach him when we leave the yard, we are going to have fun! slowly build the amount of commands/duration and eventually try a ring run-out, then jackpot? this is just what i have been doing with my girl in new places as she has similar issues. its working well Thankyou krustie I will try this :D -
luvmyrottie you have been given some good advice. if you pop into the rotti thread there are lots of breeders that would probably know the lines of your dog and be able to tell you whether or not they are slow maturing.

Ok what is a flirt pole??? He is regularly seen by chiro and bowen as that was my first thought. he is very lazy lol will work for food for about 30 seconds then is over it lol even the ultiamte sausage only gets attention for a few minutes he is in love with a woolen mit but again loses interest i can rev him up with it get him all worked up go to run him and he shuts down. i help with his mum and sister and i know the father they all have drive i wish his sister could share hers as she is go go go. -
Awesome! What breed is Gizmo? Didn't know you had an oldie, emery? Or maybe I did? Can't remember Gizmo is my mum's papillion, he is the boss of the rotti and staffy and boy do they know it he'll always be a family dog though as mum got him when i was 11
-
I am helping train a pup who is so slack lol, he has no motivation not interest in food or toys i tried today. he is 7 months old. Is there a way i can teach drive i want to get this dog reved up so he will run and not lag he is a show dog. how do i do it?
-
yayay gizmo is 15 this year and he is really slowing, he needs a jolly good grooming from winter he is so matted in spots and he has turned vicious so i can't do it off to vet but worried being under due to his age but i can't let him be as he is, he is deaf and going somewhat blind, and he walks stiffly but he is still the boss lol
