  1. Heh. I've often wondered about this. I've read things about Dog Lovers Falling In Love With Non-Dog Lovers and experiencing Woe but what happens When Dog Lovers Meet And Fall In Love but their respective dogs might not get along at all!? In our house, I'm actually the fussy one. OH would let the dogs sleep in our bed if he had his way but I have allergies. They're allowed in the house (we deliberately picked laminate over carpet) but they are not allowed on sofa, day bed or in or on our bed. I go to bed first and OH goes and chooses a dog each night to come and jump on the bed with me. Sometimes he kicks whoever it is out when he comes to bed but most of the time I wake up in the morning, with a dog in my face. OMG, I would have the perfect marriage if only my OH had the same attitude as yours. Seems to me, that in life, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Just out of curiosity, what star sign is your OH?
  2. Lucky you! I clean the house, he would help but given that he works full time and I am at home atm, I make it my task to do the chores, that hasn't made an ounce of difference though. If your dogs mean that much to you and you want them all inside, do it. I can't see how or why people live together when they are apparently at opposite poles, when it comes to pet ownership. It's so much eaier and nicer to love and live with someone who is like minded when it comes to the pets Given that we do get along with just about everything else, if I did put my foot down and had all of my dogs in the house it would spell disastrous, he would be packing his belongings and march away never to be heard of again
  3. Yes, save your energy whilst it's raining cats and dogs; plenty of time to catch up this summer.

  5. That is the only thing that I find totally exasperating about him! I like the idea of having someone that is clean but he is a pain when it comes to the issue of dogs in the house. Much to his chagrin.....my maltese sleeps on my pillow most of the time, he hasn't cracked the shits about that though, surprisingly. He must know that that would be akin to
  6. My hubby is extremely fussy, he loves dogs but is adamant that no more than two dogs are allowed in the house, one of them is my 10yo maltese, the fact that she doesn't shed is an added plus, the other is a chihuahua x, she sheds only marginally. He would never allow big dogs in the house. I opened the front door once and another dog waltzed into the house, he saw red ;) . He made a big song and dance about nothing. The dog was inside for a mere few seconds and was then escorted out, no big deal. If he sees a small amount, and I mean...small amount, of dog hair he will bring my attention to it If I take my maltese or my chihuahua x in the car with me and they leave small paw marks on the windows he points it out to me accompanied by a comment or two. He doesn't like the idea that I give my maltese a tid bit from my plate, he says that she should be eating from her food bowl Please please tell me what your OH is like? EDited to say that I don't let the dogs eat directly from my plate but sometimes I will pick a small amount of food and give it to her directly and she eats it off my fingers in a way that my fingers don't touch her mouth at all.
  7. OMG, that would be a nightmare, no doggy doors here either! Imagine the state of the carpet and the drapes! Where would you start ????
  8. Sounds like the dog has had an allergic reaction to the vaccine; I would have thought that a shot of antihistamine should have been given instead of just waiting it out.....
  9. Preserving th ebloodline when they are from the same litter? I dont get it. They were from separate litters, Steve. The whites are rather scarce in Australia.
  10. A little OT but about 5 years ago I wanted to buy a purebred dog, I was especially after a white one; rang a breeder that specialised in white dogs, she had two pups available, one was the typical colour that this breed comes into and the other was a white. She was charging $1500 more for the white and emphasised that it would be desexed before leaving her....that is fair enough, she is the breeder and it is her prerogative, I don't believe in early desexing....she went on to say that the reason for this was to ensure that it wouldn't end up in a puppy farm, when I questioned her as to whether the same applied to the other pup.....she said that I would be responsible for desexing the other one if I wanted to purchase it; it was abundantly clear that she was more interested in preserving the bloodlines rather than a genuine concern for the welfare of her puppies and wanting to be sure that they did not end up in a puppy farm. Having said all of that....I do think that charging an extra $1500 (total $2500) was a little too exhorbitant.
  11. :D :D OOps, my bad....that post was directed at none other than........Raz, you know - the one that tells me to take a hike yet forever quotes my comments and then responds with typical sarcasm. Stop chasing me all over this forum...please NO, YOU stop harassing me, okay?
  12. Shhhhhhh! ;) For most it appears in code or simply as babble There's a select few that get'ya Only the select crowd understand the Souffle. and no point hitting edit after writing some insulting crap, Moselle. You really need to take a hike. The only reason that I hit the edit button is because I realised that I had quoted the wrong person and I was about to quote you but instead got interrupted by someone at the door so I didn't complete it but had intended to come back later in order to do so. I don't think I was being insulting besides which.....wasn't it you (as per usual) that started it all?

You really need to take a hike. You are so full of it, Raz, lol. Who started the sarcasm but you and yet you're telling me that I need to take a hike? Practice what you preach and go and take a hike yourself.
  15. What do you mean PE?? DOLers are again pointing out the flaws in the RSPCA's work. Some would rather we didnt do that. Souff Souff; you don't need to answer posts for me on my behalf, anyone would tihnk you like seeing your sig. ;) I meant that as soon as The Ark posted something good, she got shut down. All rightie then! I understood what you meant from your post, Souffle. Maybe your keyboard is set to some secret language and only some Dolers can interpret it
  16. 600 dogs..... Have you been there and counted them? Spoke just a moment ago to someone in the RSPCA, he mentioned this particular puppy farmer and told me the figure. Never heard of it until now.
  17. That is a sad state of events RSG. I know that I would much much prefer to buy a pup that was raised as part of the family and NOT in kennels !!!!!
  18. I know where you're coming from TA. It is such a confusing topic, so many comments are made, I honestly don't know what to think. A few posters on DOL are saying that puppy farmers are not going to be affected, only the registered breeders will be affected, I can't see why. I do recall comments made here about laws being too stringent pertaining to anyone having 3 or more breeding bitches, planning permits required, etc etc which I sympathise with BUT I don't see how puppy millers won't be affected? I would certainly hope so. The puppy farms won't be impacted upon because they either exist in locations where they are not policed and fly under the radar or they already have council approval for their massive sheds and the dogs that go along with it. The average suburban ANKC dog breeder, doesn't have rows of DA approved kennels, there's a good chance that the majority wouldn't have a block sufficient to build and have such kennels approved either. The only breeders that will survive this, are the puppy farmers, the back yard breeders and the registered breeders that are foruntate to live in acreage that has exisitng kennels and are DA approved. What the RSPCA wants, would see me wiped out. Read this Moselle. Imagine you have someone on a suburban block, they have three bitches and breed and show a small number of dogs. They have to register as a breeder. Now breeders have to follow certain guidelines which include council planning laws and have to build kennels and have dogs houses a certain distance from the neighbours etc. Some places it can't be done because blocks are too small. So they stop breeding, no choice. So we go onto breeders who live on a bigger block, same rules apply, they register as a breeder, now have to build kennels etc, they have the room, but they don't have the $15,000 or so to do so as they can only manage to cover costs at best. So they stop breeding, they have no choice. On to puppy farmers, they typically live on large blocks, so room no issue. They make good money because they don't have the costs that registered breeders do, so they make a LOT of profit. $15,000 to them can be raised quickly and kennels built, voila, they comply with the council by laws and are registered and approved by the rspca. They keep breeding because they now literally have a license to do so, and since the registered breeders are gone they make even more money because no competition. If you don't understand this I give up, and that is why I think registered dog breeders are doomed, even when it is spelled out clearly no one believes us. Thanks for that explanation. Just one minor thing.....in suburbia, isn't there a rule that people are not allowed to own more than a couple of dogs anyway? I was under the impression that councils did not allow more than a certain number of dogs anyway, even with a permit Is it going to be harder to keep the number of dogs under wraps given that Dogs Vic will disclose such info??? I know that in Gippsland, there is a breeder that breeds LARGE SCALE and I mean HUMONGOUS....to the tune of 600 dogs, kept in small cages.....surely they WILL be affected and esp. under the LIberal party.....the code of practice goes to say that they stand to be fined around $30,000 which is vastly more than the current fine. I just shudder with the thought that such factories exist!
  19. yep, new laws to give them powers where it comes to local plannig, where previously it was the domain of council they'll be able to walk and and shut down every breeder that has a litter on their loungeroom floorSpikes, nothing has changed but it's always been policy of the RSPCA to seize first and ask questions later when it suits them. Surely that isn't going to be the case; what is so wrong with a breeder having 3 breeding bitches and keeping them as part of the family and living in the house? Is this a scare tactic?

  21. 7.30 Thursday nights, right after the 7pm Project. Happy viewing Thanks DR, having never seen the show before I will make a point of watching it from now on and seeing for myself what all the fuss is about, lol.
  22. And that person is quite happy to PM me. Not sure what your preoccupation with me is but I'll be happy when you stop quoting me. How funny that you think it's OK for a guy to show his emotional side for tv but it's not OK for a woman to go hunting with her ferrets. Please go away, Moselle. Not preoccupied with you, I just find it amusing that you seem to have a pencheant for shredding everything that comes your way. Yes, it is okay for a man to show his emotional side; as for a woman hunting with ferrets? it went beyond that as you know! Wasn't just a case of a woman going hunting with her ferrets but the snide remarks and the mockery that accompanied the hunting of animals that I found distasteful to boot.
  23. It's not important enough for me to stick it on my calendar. And I know there are others who dont agree with me and think the shows is great. Good on them . I watched a new Australian film the other night and thought it was absolutely brilliant. There are more people on the internet movie data base forums who think it's garbage. No big deal to me. I dont take it personally - not sure why people who like the show and love Dr Chris are getting their knickers in a twist that a lot of people here are saying the show is unrealistic. If you watch the film critics on The Movie Shw say your fave film is garbage, is that going to upset you? I'm not preoccupied with the fact that you don't like the show.....that is entirely up to you, lol! I just found it amusing that you don't think it is important enough for you to "stick it on your calendar" yet you expect someone else to make a point of reminding you, lol.
