  6. marley is now 15wks old, when we are out for a walk there is just no getting his attention, he pulls the lead an sniffs everything (normal behaviour i would imagine) At home when we do lil training sessions he is very food motivated, but when we are walkin he isnt interested, unless he can have it the minute he smells it, he doesnt want to have to work for it..... I have also tried toys an nothing Any ideas how i might get his focus when walkin would be greatly appreciated
  7. I have a 14 week old puppy...... I find chicken necks to small and he finishes them to fast....... what bout lamb bones?
  8. here here I find that roo tails, give marley the runs.... and others don't have a problem with em.... I guess dogs are like people in the way that they are all different
  9. Just wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to be bossy.... and to be rather honest... I haven't had a puppy for about 15yrs and don't remember socialising that one, so I am still learning and I would hate to see them get into a fight so sounds like I just have a crazy noisey puppy on my hands oh well I am sure he can't get much worse than my 3 kids
  10. definately gunna make a play date.. It was all very cute! :-)
  11. oooooh, i've had that surgery, twas a while ago now, it can be really uncomfortable Hope u feel better soon KTB
  12. Haven't used Dencorub, was just wondering, as it isn't just the kitchen stool he has chewed or attempted to chew, and I can't take everything in the house out of his path.... and there are times he just doesn't listen..... so was just wondering if there was anything I could use to deter him, the only other thing is, if he isn't listening he gets a time-out outside, but I am sure he doesn't realise what he is being put out for
  13. Sorry to completely nosey, what is CTS surgery?
  14. where did you get it? it sounds interesting..... Marley gets bored with his treat ball aswell, if everything doesn't just fall out when he rolls it he just walks away....Lazy!
  15. Hi all Today Marley met a 8 month old Rotti...... things went really well, they were very friendly with each other, sniffing then that turned into the pair of them jumping around like they wanted to chase each other and play... (they were both on leads) I have a question though, as I said they were both really well behaved, the Rotti more so than Marley, she didn't make a sound, however Marley spent most of the time barking, not aggressive barking just barking, then bounding around on the spot trying to play then barking... the Rotti reacted by laying on the ground in a drop, then jumping up jumping around like she wanted to play then droping again and so on... Question 1... How do I stop all the barking?? Also when Marley gets a lil excited he gets a lil snappy, he snaps at the air, he does it when playing with me, he has never made contact.... but he was doing it to this gorgeous Rotti, and I am concerned as to what might happen if he connected with a lip or something??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.... all in all it went well though, and I was very proud that he wanted to play and didn't just bark and run away
  16. thanks persephone, i had thought that was probaby why.... He was kicked of couch just after this, just wantd to get the picture... He is gettin much better

  19. I really should get myself together and do more training with my lil man...... he can do sit, stay, and now touch oh and he waits for his dinner, but thats about it...... wizzle that was adorable
  20. I'm in perth, so I don't know who this Mr Linke is, but I read what he said to mean, people are always jumping to the assumption it is a pitbull, when it could have been any number of dogs that look very similar.... I personally honestly believe it doesn't matter what sort of dog you have, it is about the way it is raised for the most part.... I believe some people get a pitbull for the name and they want an agressive dog, and its these people that have given the breed a terrible name... I would also like to say, I have known pitbulls that are the most placid dogs I have ever seen, I have also known a maltese, that most people couldnt get near for fear of losing a finger, and other dogs well.... very agressive anyway thats my 2 pennys :-)
  21. can ya use dencarub? I think i have seen people say they have used it, just want to make sure before i use it, i have a kitchen stool with foot rests that are bout to be totally destroyed
  22. Hi all well I'm not really posting with a problem, just wanted to let people know how today went (in regards to last post) .... ok where to start... we arrived and there was a dog there cavalier x shitzu that wasn't overly friendly to other dogs, didn't really want much to do with marley, that wasn't helped by Marley thinking he is 10ft tall and deciding to bark at him as we got in the door, anyway, they had a sniff of each other, the other dog made a really small attempt to snap toward Marley, and got told off by his owner, at that point Marley wanted nothing to do with him.... Anyway, I asked to the lady about Marley's issue with my girls (well mainly the youngest) she wanted to see what I was talking about and got her to go to pick him up, which he was fine with as always, I explained to her that in every other way he is fine with her, and she just said what most people said to me on here, for her to talk to the dog so he knows whats going on, and mostly not to move him, and to try some of the counter conditioning that was recommended... after we had a discussion, another dog arrived, georgeous dog, deaf.... adult dog, came in casually walked over to have a sniff of Marley, and again he thought he was 10ft tall and started barking at her, she didn't even flinch obviously because she couldn't hear him..... it was a little amusing to watch, because he wasn't sure what to do, he wanted to say hi to her, he was barking and waging his tail then he would tuck his tail and bark, so he couldnt make up his mind... untill she turned to walk away from him and he wanted to chase after her, with his tail waging and barking (tough guy hey not interested till she got her back turned ) anyway all in all I think we have made some steps... baby ones, but steps all the same.... Marley hasn't been around other dogs since he left his litter mates, so I am not surprised he is a little standoffish.... I just hope the first dog hasn't upsett him so much he wont be interested in dogs again, anyway I'm gunna go back there next week and we start some obedience classes in a week or so
  23. Congratulations! Thats excellent, hope my baby is as well behaved soon... How did u get Elbie to like bein outside on his own? Marley will soon need 2 be outside during the day, atm if he is put outside, if we are inside, he stands there an whines an barks an carry's on, he is never let in until he is quiet but i worry bout him upsettin the neighbours
