*cries* because her OH has her camera while his is being fixed. I'll get it back over the weekend though I've got lots of ideas!
-
Shell I love the second and third pictures!
-
Huga - I went back and forth over the parts that I wanted to highlight. I was also using a torch with failing batteries - it helped give a softer effect. Perhaps some gauze over the torch might help diffuse the light a bit?
-
Oh yes!! The rear lens cap is in at PC - I just haven't had time to go pick it up. I shall deliver it all to you in the next week or so. I always assumed that Huga had a DSLR!! Her photos are so good!
-
Thanks. He's just some old bum I found laying around.
-
What a gorgeous old man. RIP Sammy.

Aww I took some pumpkin pictures back when I first got my camera. I'll have to try to find the "Still life with Pumpkins" later tonight.
-
No worries - I'm learning too. Quite quickly thanks to Leeshy's challenges! I am a Canon girl so I can't help you with Pentax settings but I'm sure somebody here would if you need a hand to do that stuff.

I set the camera up on a tripod and framed and focussed the shot. I had the camera set to a 15 second exposure and timed to open the shutter 2 seconds after I pressed the button. Once I had everything as I wanted I switched off the light and shone a torch on the subject, 'painting' the parts that I wanted to stand out the most. I continued this until I heard the shutter close and the exposure was over. The way to set a 15 second exposure and a delayed picture will be different on every camera. What kind of camera do you have?

I found this old bloke and took some pictures while he was dozing.

When any breed is bred purely for temperament and working ability the conformation of the dog is looked at less. Naturally the breeding stock isn't the best looking, but the one most likely to produce a perfect working dog. The physical appearance of the dog will of course change away from the desired standard. Most registered breeders will breed for both conformation and temperament, taking into consideration both when choosing their breeding stock. That way the offspring will ideally have both great temperament and adhere to the breed standard. As somebody else said, Guide Dogs for the Blind do buy stock from registered breeders with well known lines.

Couple of ten second exposures. These are old amplifier valves. OH likes building amplifiers the way they used to make them. They not only sound awesome, they look great! The smaller valve was made in 1937.

Love it Terra! The whippets are great too!! I want a stars and moon collar for Dash OMG I just saw the prices! Maybe I'll wait.

Crysti thats a lovely waterfall. Is the mist from the water spray?
-
Still love your work CM - even if you're not happy with it. DA those horse shots are lovely. We need more horse pictures

Last one (I lied.. there are four)

I loved this one with the dark eyes

Coming in for landing...
-
Frozen motion. Series of three seagull shots.
-
I thought this one was cool because of the cyclist coming the other way (the red blur).
-
A couple of panning shots taken at Newfarm this afternoon. I love this one as you can see there is a woman walking on the far side of the bikes but she is walking slower than I panned so she's all blurry. Damn that pole!!
-
Shell that panning shot is great! He's nice and focussed and you can see the movement of the camera.
-
Love the pictures of Scout drinking water!! Gives me a great idea Unfortunately my hose is in pieces *mutters something about that bloody pointer*
-
So when are you moving to the house one street over? I am sensing some tool sharing should happen... He takes it to work every day  Sorry Terra - I hadn't recalled seeing your toothbrush shots before. My apologies if I borrowed too heavily.

Cheers Caz. My OH has a ring flash which is great for throwing light around from different angles. It can make things look really interesting. Unfortunately I don't have a normal flash yet.
