  1. Firstly, it's a cross so nobody can give an estimate on what it should weight - it depends what it's crossed with. If it's crossed with a great dane then it's gonna be much bigger than if it's crossed with a JRT. Secondly - black ones don't weigh any different to any other colour purebred lab. A lab would be about 5kg at that age but this dog needs to be assessed on the correct weight for its structure.
  2. Sounds like thorough tick checks were done Oakway. It's the first thing people usually check for with rear end weakness.
  3. You can get it online. It's not that expensive and prices will only vary by a few dollars. A lot of produce stores have it too.
  4. Depending on how much hair there is in the area you could apply paw paw ointment - it's a great barrier to stop urine burning skin. If he is laying on his side then just bunching up an old towel and kinda supporting his willy with it if possible will help soak up the wee before it gets onto his body.
  5. That's really cool Sam. I never thought of using it during the day.
  6. Tilly is he dribbling urine with the catheter in? Just make sure it isn't blocked if that's the case.
  7. Great news that you found the cause Tilly! Now fingers crossed that he continues to make an improvement. Any idea where the tick might have come from?
  8. Oh yeah they love the towel part huh? My labs throw themselves into the towel when I hold it out for them. The LOVE it! The pointer is terribly traumatised by any water experience that doesn't involve drinking it from a bowl.
  9. There is a different type of diabetes called "insipidus". It is no related to sugar metabolism but has to do with hormones that help dilute the urine. Hope it's nothing at all, or something easily fixed or managed.
  10. Awww those cavaliers are so cute - nice photos. Thanks B&C. ;)
  11. Tilly I bet you've never been so happy to see a "lawn kransky" (sorry for those who haven't seen the advert ) I am thinking of you and hoping this is some mystery illness that he recovers from soon.
  12. No you don't add a degree to an underarm temperature for a baby! Not if you want an accurate result.
  13. More pictures - his beautiful warm expression and him playing on the fort at our new house.
  14. Here is Dash the solid pointer a couple of days past his 1st birthday. His beautiful pointer head is coming on nicely but still has some maturing to do. He is modelling a beautiful collar made by Huga.
  15. The 40D is fine on ISO 1200. My friend Alex tells me that there should be no noise on high ISO as long as the exposure is correct. I believe everything he tells me *smirk*. What do you mean by reach? Borneo sounds wonderful!
  16. And another wedding on the same day. Flower girl and page boy.
  17. Got it!! This was at a friend's wedding a couple of weeks ago. Grandma with one of the flowergirls.
  18. I'm with ya B&C. I just can't upload photos at the moment because this bloody Macintosh thing is driving me nuts!! I've been taking heaps and will post some up soon,
  19. If it's low light and you're taking pictures of animals moving then you might find it frustrating without one. (sorry I saw that you just said "experts")
  20. I got some great paint photos this morning! I had red paint everywhere . Definitely got one to send in. Now onto the freckles... what to do that is creative and different? That is the question!
  21. A lot of Qlders (and northern NSW) go to Ormeau to see Rowan Kilmartin. He's a vetchiro so has qualifications in both. Very good chiro, I wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else.
  22. That just means that the source of the bleeding is further back than the septum that separates the nose. Liz I hope that whatever it is turns out to be easy to fix and nothing too serious.
  23. I used aloe vera for a while - it's very bitter but won't irritate the wound. Didn't work for the rescue lab. I guess the thing is to get to the botttom of the problem before it becomes an obsession.
